ok I figured it out. It's an IE thing, not a windows thing. Tools/Internet Options/Content tab. It's called Autocomplete and there's buttons to clear the existing, as well as turning the feature on and off. Done.

Funny...this really bothered me a couple of years ago. The more active I became in martial arts the more painful my mornings were. Now I'm equally active and haven't had any pain in over a year (knock wood).
