How to fly model airplanes

My dad flew model planes for years and years, now he designs and builds them. When I was a kid he would take me with him to these contests where hundreds of people would see how long they could keep an unpowered model plane in flight (gliders). Some of these guys were able to get a lawnchair and a cooler full of beer and sandwiches and keep the planes in the air for practically the whole day. Pretty amazing

All i was ever able to do with those things was crash 'em real nice
