There are many things the leader of the free world has done that I don't agree with. I just choose to support my country's decisions once they are made. I prefer unity over division.
You sound exactly like a radical fundamentalist.
Now correct me if I'm wrong here, but are not public schools in the states funded by the government, with government set curriculum? Is not public educated deemed part of the government body? I don't believe this school is a private one, so I would guess that it falls in the former category.Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:I re-read the arlticle, I don't see anyone being punished by the government for their stance.
And a Principals job is to ensure that the teacher does stick to teaching. But the Principal also is to follow said standards, and chastizing someone for critizing a government body and/or having their chance for a freedom of thought and speech is ludicrous. Not to mention he then acts like an ass to the kids and tells them to "Shut their face". Extremely unprofessional and uncalled for.Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:A teachers job is to teach and not impose their beliefs on the kids. I couldn't agree more. I wish we had video tape of this teacher. I'd love to see if he had a lot to do with the way these peoms came out by the kids.
Why am I not surprised you bring up your homophobia again in these threads? A homosexual is deemd a person, and a minority. There tends to be discussions about current events and the like that will bring up gay / lesbian events / activists etc. Also homosexuality should be part of the general sex education to discuss potential risks and how to protect against said risks, but that is another topic altogether.Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:Teachers shouldn't discuss homosexuality in the schools, except, in the future once it's proven, in science class how a particular gene gets fucked up in the womb causing them to be born that way. Just like they used to mention that there is a certain gene that fucked up causing people to be born retarded.
So you support people's constitutional right to free speech unless you disagree with it?Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:Back on topic, I understand what you all are saying about the importance of freedom of speech. I hold it dear as you do. However, I can also understand that principles disgust with the constant bullshit and negativity which continues to divide our country every day.
So if the government decided that everyone must be gay, and also decided you cant complain against it, you would be all for it?Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:There are many things the leader of the free world has done that I don't agree with. I can't believe I missed that earlier.A teachers job is to teach and not impose their beliefs on the kids.
Yes Alanis, it would be.miir wrote:I can't believe I missed that earlier.A teachers job is to teach and not impose their beliefs on the kids.
How can you be such a blatant hypocrite and not even realise it?
Wouldn't be ironic if the teacher in question was a staunch republican and was simply respecting their students right to free speech (eventhough they disagreed with their opinions).

THIS is what happens when people vote Republican.
It will happen on your block
It will happen on your street.
It will happen at your child's school.
It will happen at your place of employment.

Try new Diet Drama. All the bullshit, half the sense!Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:I applaud the principal. I glad he is trying to squash this fostering of discontent and anti-patriotism.
Some of you people use the 1st amendment phrase way too fucking much. You can't just throw that out there to justify everything. Your narrow-mindedness is scary.
You remind me of the "right to bear arms" idiots. Who use this to justify having automatic weapons.
People were responding to the evidence as it was presented. There was no overreaction by anyone on this board, only potentially by an overzealous editorial-columnist. I didn't see a single post discounting the fact that there might be another side to the story. Though that evidence is now highly questionable, we can examine the scenario from a hypothetical perspective, and focus on the issue of First Amendment rights, and how they apply within the classroom. In that hypothetical scenario, your reaction was still the deplorable and highly-un-American:Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:OMG!
You mean there are two sides to a story? You mean people have over-reacted? NO! This could not be!
Common sense > overreacting assholes
Shocking!
Had you prudently stated that there were two sides to every story and that you wanted to reserve judgement until you heard that other side, I doubt anyone would have cared about your opinion. Instead you took the blind-faith-patriotic stance, and made yourself look like a fool. Everyone else had an appropriate reaction to the facts as they were originally presented.I applaud the principal. I glad he is trying to squash this fostering of discontent and anti-patriotism.

I don't think anyone ran in any direction. What people did is defended the first amendment.Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:I'm don't own a high horse, thanks.
I argued the other side, aye. Everyone was willign to take one snipet and run with it. I tried to bring it back in balance. Overeacting is what idiots do when they hear one thing and go running in that direction, as you put it yourself. Too too funny.
