2 Fast 2 Furious.

Before that movie, I had no idea that 100 miles per hour constituted a lightspeed effect.

I love all the old black and white movies with Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Boris Karloff, Lon Channy & JR., and Bela Lugosi.

The only movie that actually scared me though was a movie called Prince of Darkness. Not sure if I would get the same fright today as I did back then though.

Off-topic: I like the cars, specifically the Skyline GT-R, and I was hoping that at least the driving would be good. I've been planning to write up the movie so I'll do it on another thread.

On-topic: Not a huge fan of the horror genre. The movies I have seen have just been stupid.

IT. The acting was really so so, and it did deviate from the book.

Pennywise is still scary as hell.

Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory

Scariest movie ever.

I agree completely. Although since this movie actually terrified me, and I don't particularly like being terrified, I'll have to choose April Fool's Day as my "favorite" scary movie. :D

Scary movies?

Poltergeist
Night of the Living Dead
Event Horizon
Alien

Most modern 'scary' movies end up in the "Hollywood-lame" section, but every now and again, something good surfaces.

Phantasm
Jacobs Ladder

Most everything else in the genre is just stupid, gave up on them long ago.

As far as my favorites, here is a good list:

Romero's 'Dead' series(Night of, Dawn, Day)
Zombie
The Evil Dead
The Stand (can't beat the opening scene)
Event Horizon

Look for the Special Edition of Day of the Dead DVD in August!! Anchor Bay supposedly did an excellent job!

Why doesnt anybody have "The Thing" on their list.
Excellent movie from start to finish. And it still holds up rather well today.

Prince of Darkness I loved when it first came out. Now its flat out bad. Saw it on cable a few weeks ago. Couldnt even sit through the whole thing.

I have been looking for Dawn and Day of the dead in local stores but have had no luck. I found Night of the Living Dead for $5 at Shopko.

I agree with Grizz on the Prince of Darkness movie.... When I first saw it, it scared the hell outa me.

Halloween 1 and 2
Nightmare on elm street (first one of course)
Jeepers Creepers
and the Subspecies movies, while not really scary I thought they were pretty Good.

Dawn and Day of the Dead have been out of production for a while. However, Anchor Bay is doing special edition 2-DVD sets with Day of the Dead being released this August and Dawn of the Dead being released early next year. Supposedly, Dawn has all 3 versions of the film in the set!!! Also, it is rumored that Romero has the 4th installment waiting in the wings called "Dead Reckoning".

IMO Dawn of the Dead is the best horror movie of all time, especially given the budget. I can't wait for the new DVDs!!!!

Pshaw! Day of the Dead is SO the best of the 3 :)

I have it on DVD so it has been released somewhere, sometime. If this is too helpful let me know and I'll vague it up a bit.

Stephen King's "The It". Wouldn't really say it was a fave, but it caused me to destroy anything "clown-like" I had as a child.

Now I'm more of a fan of modern horror/thriller genre (scream series, final destination etc)
