Another one of them puzzle things

No holds barred discussion. Someone train you and steal your rare spawn? Let everyone know all about it! (Not for the faint of heart!)

Another one of them puzzle things

Post by Vetiria »

I don't know why, but I like doing these. Everyone else seemed to enjoy them as well last time, before some person decided to derail the thread, again. So here ya go. Got this one in my e-mail today.

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST

It takes less than a minute.......

Work this out as you read.

Don't cheat and read the bottom until you've worked through it!

This is fun!

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would
like to have dinner out. (try for more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (Just to be bold)

3. Add 5. (for Sunday)

4. Multiply it by 50 - I'll wait while you get the
calculator............

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1753....
If you haven't, add 1752..........

6.. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number ..

The first digit of this was your original number

(I.e., how many times you want to have eat out each week.)

The next two numbers are...

YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it IS!!!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2003) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS. IMPRESSIVE, ISN'T IT?

I remember getting one of these last year stating that this is the only year that this will work. Guess they had different numbers. Damn math people. If they aren't making virus's they are making silly games.

I last had a birthday last year, so

x the number you pick to eat out, is an integer from 1 to 9
y is the year you are born

so the equation as stated is

(2x+5)*50 +1752 - y

expand it out

100 x + 250 + 1752 - y

simplify

100 x + 2002 - y

2002 (the last year you had a birthday) - y (your birthdate) will equal your age.
Notice that if you are one hundred years or older, this doesn't work.

the other part of the equation is 100x, so unsuprisingly the first number of the three digit final result is the number you choose initially.
