I have an "almost been arrested" story that's so ridiculous that I know I'm going to catch shit for it but here it goes anyhow.
------
Me and some buddies were 16 (I'm 22 now), and we got our hands on a 24pk of beer somehow and we were drinking for one of our first times ever. (don't all good stories start that way?)
So, we're sitting around thinking we're so cool, pretty drunk off of our 4 or so beers (lol) -- his parents are out of town -- and we decide to call another friend and get him over there. Only two of us had cell phones and we used mine to call him at his house. If you dial *67 it comes up anonymous on caller ID, I dunno why we did that, I think we were going to mess with him for a while or something.
Anyhow, we call and his mom answers. His mom was always a real bitchy woman, like, just miserable. So we ask for him and she says he's not home and she's already getting mad and telling me not to yell into the phone and all that. I happen to be the one on the phone, and I decide to mess with her instead. (dumb)
I go on to tell her that I'm driving and that I just got a hang-up call from her number. I tell her that when I answered the hang-up call that I got pulled over for talking on my cell phone and that I want to know who called me from that number.
She says nobody called and that she's on the phone with her boyfriend and that I need to stop yelling at her. I give her a hard time for a while, saying things like "It musta been one of your snot-nosed little brat kids playing with the phone," and such. We argue.
I tell her that she should pay my fine because it's her fault. She's freaking out screaming at me now. It's all too easy. She doesn't hang up, she keeps going along with it.
She tells me that she's going to call the police and (here's my big mistake) I tell her that the cop's walking back up to the car and she can go ahead and talk to him. I slide the phone across the table to my buddy and he picks it up. I figure even if she calls the police they won't do anything for a prank call anyhow, plus I dialed *67 so I'm safe anyhow.
He tells her, and I quote: "My goddamn uniform pants are too tight and I don't want to hear it." and he hangs up. We all laugh, and eventually I ride my bicycle back to my house (2ish miles?). I got home at about 1:30 am.
Around 2, I'm talking to another friend online who happens to live down the road from the woman we pranked, and he says the cops are there. I tell him he's full of shit thinking my friends are getting him to mess with me and I go to bed.
Then I see red lights flashing on my wall. I look out the window and there's a police car in front of my house. I try to get dressed as quick as I can so I get to the door before my parents get woken up, but it's no good. I'm putting on a pair of pants when I hear pounding at the door.
I'm putting on a shirt when my dad opens the door to my room and asks what the hell I did. I explain it quickly on the way down the stairs to the door and he tells me I'm a moron. (duh)
I open the front door and am greeted by a 20 something sheriff who's a chick, and a hot one at that. Even more embarassing.
She says "Are you Brian?" and I say I am.
She reads me my rights in front of my dad. That's a fun experience. She asks if I know why she's there and I say that I have a good idea. She tells me it's for a "harassing phonecall" and asks who else was involved. I refuse to tell her. She names two of the people who were there and I say nothing.
She asks which one of them I handed the phone to when the lady asked to speak with the cop, and again I refuse to say.
We go inside and I read the statement of the woman who called the cops, in which she said I threatened to "Kick her fucking ass" and "Make her pay one way or another" both of which I never said.
She also says that when the phone was handed to the cop that they had a 5 or so minute long conversation about the issue. I don't remember the details.
She tells me she's going to take me for mug shots and fingerprinting and she pulls handcuffs off of her belt, and asks if I want to make a statement before we go. My dad's sitting across the table while we talk.
I make a statement and deny making the threats and tell her the entire story, minus the beer. I cooperate with her completely, and eventually she talks to my father, shakes our hands and leaves, not taking me with her.
My dad goes to bed without saying a word and I do too. A few days later my dad tells me that she said nothing would likely come of it, and that that lady overreactes and calls the police at least twice a month for stupid things. (speeding traffic, loud music, kids walking by late at night, etc) and that I should stay away from her from now on or else I'll be arrested for aggravated harassment.
Nothing ever came of it, and oddly enough her son -- the friend we were calling -- never mentioned it to us, and we never mentioned it to him.
That's my story and that's the closest I've ever come to being arrested. Looking back, I think it was mostly just an attempt to scare me and teach me a lesson.
