So you are blocking Cart's IPs now?

No holds barred discussion. Someone train you and steal your rare spawn? Let everyone know all about it! (Not for the faint of heart!)

I'm going to hope Cart is having internet problems and has blown this out of proportion. I don't think the VV mods would ever do anything like that to someone.

Nah if they are blocking Cart's IP I doubt it was because of something he posted, odds are it is a problem with his DNS server, or his side.

I do not think the mods here would summarily block anyones IP range, without letting everyone know why or at least a basic outline of why.

Not to mention that any moron can overcome an IP range block. Even Script kiddies

Well, he did tell one of the site admins to fuck himself...

Still, I agree with Mid. I really don't think any of the powers that be would ban him. In fact, they've all pretty much put their foot down at various times in various threads and said that they would not...

Hey dumbass perhaps you like a world filled with bicycle riding, closet perverts, whose opinion sways with popular opinion. But I enjoy diversity in life as well as opinion.

So if you think it is a good thing when someone leaves the boards because their opinion is different than yours or because they express that opinion in a different manner then you sir are a class a fucktard.

You should start your own site, sign up under a miriad of names and discuss politics, sports, religion to your hearts content. Everyone will agree with your insightful banter.

Hell man you could even make some accounts of the female persuasion and have them ask you for picts, agree with all your posts and you could even create a Metanis account and make fun of him.

Call it the Real Internet according to Noel.

Leaving the board for a differeing opinion? Well for one, Cartalas is far too stupid to post anything resembling an opinion, and if Metanis wants to be a baby and leave because he thinks Cart is banned, before its even looked into, well just how is that differing opinion? Serious question. Paranoid dumbfucks.

You guys are so fucking out there that you're letting your stupid fucking politic beliefs cloud your judgement in everything.. step back and see how sickening it is.. Jesus. I gurantee you if Cartalas is banned, it is NOT IN ANYWAY RELATED TO HIS POLITICAL OPINONS. Not like any of you will believe it though.

Why would I want to do that when I can just post here, read and post on cycling forums, spend my free time doing whatever I want, and watch a myriad of people make you look like a fool on a daily basis.

I don't really care if Cart was banned or not. I am pro-banning people who:
  • Continuously buck the system
  • Are disrespectful to the people who provide this board for ALL of our enjoyment
  • Continuously violate one of the few rules we have here (this includes you)
You'll get no sympathy, and no quarter, from me. I have no idea why Cart can't connect, and I really don't care, but I do know that he's been warned on many occasions that his behavior was unacceptable, and he expressed indifference. I find it sadly ironic that he doesn't care about following the rules here, but does care if he can't post here. It's a strange dichotomy.

As far as difference of opinion... I don't always agree with Dregor, Sylvus, Xouqoa, Truant, Kyoukan, Miir, Aruman, Akaran, Aslanna, Raistin, and many others, but the clear difference is that they don't consistently make fat jokes, post off-topic derogatory one-liners in every single thread, and generally make asses of themselves on a regular basis. Cart was occasionally funny, and I have laughed out loud at more than a few of his posts, but Cart broke the rules and knew it. I seriously doubt he's banned/blocked etc, but he sure as hell should have been.

Oh I just want to add that jokes about me cycling get funnier and funnier every time you make one! Keep up the good work. :D

I'm actually curious as to why Cartalas can't get to this site without a proxy. Can you connect to the server at all? Can you just not log in? Is veeshanvault.org pingable? What doess the traceroute say? Is this a dropped route, a firewall block, or an administrative ban from within the forum application? Or none of the above? Inquiring geeks want to know!

This is very unlikely but maybe he accidently turned HTTP 1.1 settings off in advanced options for either ie or mozilla, and turned HTTP 1.1 settings (through proxy) on, which would explain why he could only get through on a proxy. I know I used a proxy once and forgot I left it on - couldn't access some sites like http://www.magelo.com because the HTTP 1.1 setting was off.

There are some new rules going into effect starting soon.

1K Worthiness Poll
-When you reach 1000 posts, an automatic yes/no poll will be posted as to whether or not you should be banned.

5K Logan's Run Rule
-Once you reach 5000 posts, you must come up with a new angle or be banned. (Aranuil --> Noel) (Voronwe --> Liberal Spin Doctor) for example : )

Too many new threads rule
-If you have created over half of the topics that are on the first page of any forum, you will be banned. (bumping threads diliberately to ban Siji who averages about 48% will not be tolerated!)

Kwon Rule
-If viewing a thread that you have posted in requires downloading more than a combined 2 GB of .sig files and animated avatar files, you will be banned.

Cheerleader Rule
-No bandwagoning onto the coattails of a good flamer. If you're going to flame, use your own material or you will be banned!

Did VV ever gets a dedicated box or are they still sharing one, like with a virtual hoster? If it's shared, then I doubt that the VV admins have the access required to block you from the OS-level (like with a software firewall like iptables) However, I thought that the board moved to a dedicated box, so maybe they do have admin access to do that. Hmmm.

Of course it could (at least in theory) be an overzealous DDoS-blocker or some other kind of automatic thing that got tripped off by someone else in the same address space as you has a virus and may be doing something mean like port scanning or sweeping Windows ports for vulnerabilities.

Of course I have no clue, I'm just guessing. But this is pretty much the kind of crap I deal with at work all the time, so it's a bit intriguing.

If we wanted to ban him we'd just go into the phpbb admin and click "ban this user". It's possible that the colo has a firewall script that got tripped for whatever reason, I don't really care enough to look into it. It appears he can still hit the board, so I'm not going to go out of my way to help him out.

Yeah 3 seperate Class c' in different Co Locs al did the same thing at the same time, Yeah we are al stupid enought to believe that.

Winnow,
Give Stephen King his "It's the journey, not the destination" line back. I have never wanted to shove someone's words up their ass as bad as when I finished the last dark tower book and saw that near the end...

When did he write that? I made that line up in a drama post back when I was about to guild hop out of Obsidian Guard in 2000. Thief!

In the final book to the Dark Tower series. He defended his shitty ending to the series, which he knew would upset lots of people, by basically calling them pathetic and saying he doesn't care what they think if they can't understand that "it's the Journey, not the destination".

He actually made an analogy to sex and said something along the lines of - you are the same people who think of sex only as the "squirt" that happens at the end, when that is really god's way of saying that the sex is over.. Or some bullshit like that.

Dude,

You weren't banned. This should be obvious by the fact that you are still posting here.

Hrmm... so, from your description you're saying the server was dropping you, which is a failure/denial at the transport layer, which means the multiple IP's you were using would have needed to be denied.

Ping/Traceroute proves you can move ICMP packets, that doesn't mean you have a TCP route to the server. There's any number of things that could fail and give you these symptoms.

In conclusion, you're retarded or paranoid or both.
