I like the suspicion of sleeping, either he was asleep or not.

I swear, that sounds like a police state to me. Fuck that noise.

actually in just about every state if not all states you are required by law to carry a photo ID.

*EDIT*
Some states even require you to carry a certain amount of cash or your considered a vagrant..

those laws just exist to give them an excuse to harrass homeless people if they get too close to affluent neighborhoods.

but i thought it was funny Ashcroft wanted to expand the patriot act. yeah that is a great idea.

if Congress does that we are in for trouble. But you know what it wont effect the support for Bush one bit. People just dont understand what it means.

there will be no voice debating the validity of doing this within the Republican party.

Hehe i wonder how much the GOP will be able to raise the next election cycle in campaign contributions. Corporations have seen that doing business with this administration is good for pocket lining that is for sure.

I think we all need to know why the cops asked for his ID look at the age and the time of the action. These are just snipits from the local yocal newspaper.

"on suspicion"

For every entry??

Every police department I am aware of maintains a "media log" for local press to look over every morning. These are rewrites of what some reporter found in the log on the dates given.

They sure as hell aren't charges.

This is a media log, straight as it was given, I think.

A story:

My friend pulled over because he was to tired to drive.
The police wake him up, tell him to get out of the car.
They accuse him of being drunk, and after my friend straight up tells them for about the hundreth time that he was no drunk, they arrest him for about 6 hours then release him.
Car impounded.

I am not saying all cops are assholes. I do respect the job they do, it is just shit like above makes it harder for me to believe they are all good guys.

I got pulled over the other day for not wearing my seat belt. Which was good and all, except for one little thing. I was actually wearing my seat belt. I had out of state tags because I am home for the summer, so I figured I would get pulled over sometime. Oh yeah, it was also 9:30 at night in the fucking dark and the cop was adjacent to my car. How and I ask HOW can someone make that distinction. I will have that fucking thing thrown out of court or the state will burn...

70% of all police forces are just over sized egos tring to flex their muscles to the public. They do nothing but over step their own lines, and file wrongful charges on innoncent people.

I have looked at patrol officers the same way forever. They are just too dumb to get a college education and have to settle for being a cop. And my theory is proved with every run in with them. Even when you walk up to them and ask them a simple question, like directions or what have you, they are really egotistical and act like it's a waste of time to be talking to you. 1/10 of the cops I've met have been good guys, but most of them are stupid fucking assholes with nothing going for them.

That seatbelt law crap is a crock of shit. Oh it's ok to ride a motorcycle without a helmet but you can't drive 2 tons of steel without a seatbelt? Just like all the other "fads" people need someone or something to target as being bad, right now it's not wearing your seatbelt, smoking and being liberal (politically speaking)... damn I guess I'm all three.

Take the words "on suspiscion" out and replace with "accused of" and it makes a lot mroe sense.

Acies,

No doubt there are dicks in the profession, just like every other job ont he planet. As police hold a higher level of authority, they should be held to a higher standard of conduct.

Not that they like hearing that.....

Zamtuk,

I suggest you call the court clerk on that one. Honestly, I can't see why a judge would waste his time putting you ont he docket for something that is obviously going to be dismissed.

The seat belt laws, atleast in theory, aren't about protecting the driver of the car. If it was it would have been overturned the way the helmet law was. Seatbelt laws are still in effect because it was shown in several cases that people were better able to control their car during evasive manuevers and hydroplaning, etc. while being strapped in so they couldn't slide out of the seat. I'm not a big fan of seatbelts, simply because they annoy me while I'm driving, and are generally a distraction for me, but I finally got into the habit of wearing one simply because I don't want to give the police an easy excuse to pull me over.

Gonna go with Raistin on this one. They become cops because they have serious inferiority complexes and try to compensate by being put in a position of authority. The sane ones usually get promoted and therefore rarely interact with the general public.

Policework does attract that type of alpha male personality yeah. Cops have more leeway to boss people around and appear to be an authority figure than just about any other job out there so it appeals to certain people.

I used to be a total cop groupie when I was younger (its a uniform thing) and hung out with and dated a lot of cops. Lots of them were just as big assholes off duty as they are on.

There are a lot of cops that genuinely enjoy the work and like to help people though.

I don't interact much with cops, but I've met a few people that do. They all agree that there's a much higher tendency for the younger cops to be dicks. They often are too eager to prove themselves and are generally bigger cockknobbers. Same goes for the women cops as well, they have an even bigger chip on their shoulders.

Don't take that to the bank. There are dickhead sargents, lieutenants and captains as well.

Kelgar is right, young cops can be a real pain in the ass. They can also be the catalyst for breaking up the bad, bad habits old cops fall into after years of sucking shit from the public. Problem is it's damn near impossible to tell who falls into which category during an interview.

Woman cops are a different breed altogether though. Women cops have to be pushy and dominant or they will get torn apart by men they try to arrest or interact with.

Women cops easily take twice the amount of shit male cops have to take.

To a certain extent, Cops have to be assholes.
Being 'nice' can be viewed as a sign of weakness.. and with their job, showing weakness could easily result in a life threatening situation.

This is too funny. I just got a seatbelt ticket today. I was going to the thrift store which is about a mile from my apartment. I took neighborhood streets but the cop was perched there at the store and pulled me over right in front of it. $35.... I bought a shirt for $2.69 but I guess I really paid $37.69 for it. :(
