Which doesn't mean the PS3 itself is inferior. Just that Rockstar sucks when it comes to coding it properly. If anyone is to blame it's them.Winnow wrote:seems pretty damn clear that the PS3 version is inferior.
It's ok if you bought the PS3 version. Nobody has to know!Funkmasterr wrote:Jesus fucking christ, can we move on now?

It's really strange that so many people and sites dedicate themselves to discovering the differences between the 2 platforms. Miir said no one cared!
Having said that, the differences that I have read about are exactly the same as the GTA4 issues. Given a choice, 360 is the obvious choice. However, if I only owned a PS3 there is no way I would pass on the title. The differences aren't Ghostbusters bad!
The bright spot in all of this is that I hope Sony makes thier next console a little more developer friendly. Studios that are dedicated to the PS3, like Santa Monica and Naughty Dog make beautiful games for the PS3. I wonder why the vast majority of studios struggle?
RDR had a dedicated team for each console as well as lessons learned since GTA4. There has to be a reason they ran into the same issues this time around...

They get more hits on their site if they say X game looks better on X console even if there is no basis to the claim.
Bottom line is that it's the same fucking game... give or take a few pixels.

Re: Red Dead Redemtion
Why don't you queers stop arguing about framerates and talk about this game, because it's pretty fucking awesome.
I find it a little difficult to try and drive a stagecoach or flee a scene on horseback, while trying to shoot people pursuing me. I don't know if it's something I can get much better at, or if it's a flaw in the controls.
Five-finger fillet is a super-easy way to make some money, I've been betting $50 a shot, winning, and sitting back down to play. I went from like $80 to almost $500 last night in a very short period of time.
I'm liking the variety of things you can do. So far I have had a gun duel, driven cattle, broken wild horses, skinned animals, collected herbs, collected bounties, chased and hogtied a guy, in addition to working on the main quest.
I did have one wonky situtation where I was either running or riding through Armadillo (can't remember which) and bumped into a pedestrian, who chased after me and wanted to fight. I kicked his ass with my fists, and then he came back at me with a gun. I shot him dead, and then the whole town was after me. I don't think it was a scripted event, so be careful that you don't barrel through people too much.
Haven't tried multiplayer yet.

Re: Red Dead Redemtion
A friend of mine said he gets into more trouble running into people with his horse than anything the storyline has thrown at him so far.
GTA4, then Alan Wake, then RDR. It's a week or so off until I give it 100% of my attention. However, if anyone sees me online and wants to try some multiplayer, I'll switch games. The only problem us that my mic setup is in the living room so if I'm gaming in the bedroom I can only listen. Hmmm. I may need to find a solution to that problem since it seems I've been in the bedroom more than the living room lately.

Re: Red Dead Redemtion
I don't have any trouble with horseback riding. I can even shoot behind me. Make good use of your dead-eye time. I'm able to blow all types of animals away while riding full speed by using dead eye...the problem is finding the carcasses afterward as they blend into the landscape well.
I think the game may be a little over sensitive of bumping pedestrians. I trampled someone but they came out of nowhere...not my fault! I don't think pedestrians had the right of way back in those times since horses/carriages were a bit more hard to control.
I saved the game and gunned down a whore just to test things out in the city. I immediately started running out of the city..unfortunately on foot. I happened to be chasing another whore who was running from me out of town...having used up my of dead eye ability, I was trying to put a bullet in her leg to slow her down so I could get away from the GTA-like red circle of doom I was in that she kept me in....As it turned out, I was gunned down by some invisible force. I looked everywhere and couldn't see who was firing at me. It must have been someone with a sniper rifle. I don't mind dying but at least want a fighting chance.
Overall, I find plenty of ways to shoot things while still taking the "good" route.
Edit: Falling into water (or jsut walking into the lake along the waters edge appears to be instant death which kinda sucks.

Re: Red Dead Redemtion
When there is a dead body of anything on the ground, there is a little tiny grey X on the mini-map so you can use it to find it again to loot or skin it. I got horse-jacked last night by someone asking me for help. I also had that bitch set me up for an ambush by her 4 buddies....but with the dead eye meter full they paid for that quick.....then I chased that bitch down and beat her with the fists before I knifed her.
One question I have.....where do you get the lasso? I have not come across anything on that yet. The game is a blast so far even though the controls are tough for me to get used to after playing COD 4 for so long.
A little tip on stage coaches and carriages.....tap A on a straight section to get the speed you want, then just hold A and it will maintain that speed and it becomes much much easier to steer it. The horse is kind of the same, but it will slow to a standard gallop.

It's a decent game, the characters are cool and it's pretty darn fun but I'm just not feelin it.... yet.
Try it on the 360! The experience is orgasmic as opposed to just tingly on the PS3. Also, the theme is uniquely American so it may not appeal to foreigners as much.

I saw 2 glitches.
1 - Floating hat.
2 - I climbed on a box and it shot me 20 feet up. Then I fell to my death.

Re: Red Dead Redemption
I really enjoy the themes of the game and the mechanics of GTA 4. Rockstar put this one together really well but there are a ton of glitches in the game that I've personally run into (Carridges and horses half-melded into the scenery come to mind).
I don't believe you need to be american to enjoy this game anymore than you need to be american to enjoy other types of media.
The charm of the wide open spaces and travelling is starting to wear a bit thin already though. I've already started using fast-travel in some instances.

But it makes such a pretty curvy line now.
I finished this game yesterday (story mode but not all the side quests). What a great ending. I found this game a bit too easy though so I'll try putting it on expert targeting mode from now on.

Just wrapped up the single player portion of the game. Man that was a pretty amazing experience. Story was great too.
Re: Red Dead Redemption
I grabbed Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare Collection
So far it's been entertaining. The world is significantly different to be worth of checking it out again. Zombie games are not my thing but its been OK so far. The story is a little less serious. Lots of humor in the game.
You've got to shoot these zombies in the head or burn them. I have some issue with the headshots because it's pretty hard but burning them with a torch isn't so bad although I'm not sure how the torch works yet. I seem to lose it for a bit and then can't use it for awhile.
Rockstar is great at keeping the story moving. The main character's family gets zombified early on and he heads out to find a cure after tying them up.
Solid entertainment with story for those that enjoyed Red Dead and are OK with the zombie theme.
