I care. The map is the most important thing of all. These ridiculous polls of x number of people covering the entire country are useless.
I would agree with that map except that I think FL will go to McCain and PA will go to Obama. Couldn't tell you about the rest of the swing states though.

BBC Article: Why rednecks may rule the world
http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/ne ... 600592.stm

Good read, sums up why barring something earth shattering coming to light about Palin (possible) and\or McCain (unlikely) the election is basically over. Of course the dems would have to act on anything that came to light, which they've shown themselves to be nearly incapable of. The things that are out there about Palin, mainly some of her religious views are political suicide to attack her on.

The democrats continue to be their own worst enemy. There was actually a growing chance of me voting for Obama before he showed his true colors and picked Biden. Of course Hilary would have had much the same reaction from me.

The Palin pick was pure genius.

Oprah refusing to interview Palin was a big hit against Obama, turned what hadn't really been a racial campaign into one in the back of people's minds. Suddenly there's an "us and them" element that really wasn't there before, for people with all their teeth anyway.

Really? People view that as racially motivated? I would think with Oprah's first major public support of a candidate being a Democrat, that Palin wouldn't appeal to her because she's a Republican (and a pretty right-wing one, at that).

What about Oprah's endorsement being worth a million votes?

Your compilation actually reinforces the charges made by the McCain campaign. As an ex-US Marine I wasn't ever likely to vote for Obama. But he really sealed the deal when he refused to visit the Army hospital in Germany because he couldn't turn it into a photo op. His true colors shown through for the whole world to see and he was was pathetically ugly and selfish and completely shallow inside.

Lest you think I don't know the facts, think again. Obama and one or two aides would have been thoroughly welcomed in that hospital. Obama wanted to bring his pack of media lapdogs and they were rightly denied from turning the visit into a campaign circus.

Obama went shopping instead. (Probably for a new set of balls since he obviously has none.)

Not that this really needs to be said, but you're a giant fucking moron if you believe that. This nonsense that Obama didn't go visit troops at Landstuhl because it couldn't be used as a photo op has been discredited so many times. It's a flat out lie - not a distortion, a lie - spread by the McShame campaign to convince idiots like you that Obama hates the troops. The press were NEVER invited to come along, retard. It was never to be more than a few of his aids, including a former Air Force general. The pentagon refused to allow the General to go along, so Obama backed out for fear that the whole thing was becoming politicized. Again - NO PRESS WAS EVER INVITED TO GO ALONG. It's well documented, not that documentation matters to morons like yourself. I'd challenge you to take a minute to fucking research it because you might actually learn something, but I know that won't happen. Idiot. I say that as an ex-Army soldier.

You got your response in as I was editing my post to provide a little more info in anticipation of exactly such a response.

Read what I added, and then go look for Andrea Mitchell's description of events. As a member of the press group that was traveling with Obama during the trip, she had a first hand view of what was going on. She's been emphatic that at no time were any members of the press to go along with Obama.

Here's a shortcut for you: Andrea Mitchell describing the situation as it happened

Oh, before you try to say otherwise, Mitchell is widely respected as an accurate and impartial reporter. She's certainly not protecting "her guy" as part of the "librul medeeah." Her description of the events in question have been corroborated by other members of the press on that trip.

Yes, one of the most respected television news journalists in the country is a dolt. She may stumble over a few words in that segment, but the underlying point she makes is not invalidated by it.

If someone willfully chooses to believe documented lies, that's their choice, but it does pretty much invalidate any opinions that person might have on the subject. They can just go back to burying their head up an GOP's ass, just like they want everyone to. Just to be clear, this isn't directed at anyone in particular, I'm just venting my frustrations at the number of simpletons in the world that swallow anything the right-wing spits out without even pausing to evaluate whether it's true or not.

The same day that one of McCain's economic advisors is out there writing an OP ed titled Quit Doling Out That Bad-Economy Line, Wall Street is in full panic mode.

You also have McCain's economic hero Greenspan out there disavowing McCain's planned tax cuts.

I have no idea how this thing is even close. I swear you USAdians will be arguing about guns, gays and abortion while you are in the bread lines.

I'm happy to tell you it's not close at all. The closeness of the race that you see is an illusion based on manipulations by the press and the Republicans. Obama's ground game is massive, above and beyond anything either party has seen in history, and it is being completely ignored.

Xyun,

Don't take this the wrong way, but how the hell could you possibly know that? How could you also know what the grass root Republican trends are? I know you are excited, but until November 4th, all we are going to know is that the media sucks and the polls are fairly unreliable. I still hope for an Obama win, but I guess I am not drinking the from the Obama punch bowl as much as others are.

Obama getting elected might set the tone, reality says the people behind he scenes (Biden, Pelosi, etc..) will be calling the shots. He's a puppet to draw in the young and disaffected. Which means you aren't going to see much change, if any. Unfortunately.

So pick your cup of poison, but please don't think there's going to be a major shift in the short term regardless of the outcome of this election. The long term consequences of either side could be pretty scary too. Bringing in another republican administration is a shitty idea, but it's still better than the alternative.

Ok, time for some reality here. To know where this is coming from, my younger brother worked as a House Member's staff in Washington D.C. for 4 years before going back to Law School (which he just finished), and now he is working for the Obama campaign in Pennsylvania as an assistant director of voter protection. So, he's seen how things work in Washington, as well as has a legal background and the connections that going to a top-5 law school provides, and is now an "insider" in a way. What he says about Obama and his people are that they are the "next generation" of Democratic policy wonks - and this was a big reason Hillary didn't make it onto the ticket (her people were the "old guard" of Democratic policy wonks and it was deemed too difficult to merge the operations and policies of the two groups without ceding control back to the old guard). So saying that Obama is a puppet of the old guard is patently untrue, and Biden was brought on board with the understanding that his people would be ceding control to Obama's... which Hillary's people were unwilling or unable to do.

Now, does the next generation of Democratic Policy wonks mean that there will be big changes? Well, that's for each of us to decide. But Obama's people are not universally the same people who have been in charge of the Democratic party since the Clinton years, and represent a sea change in the Democratic party.

Err, I was actually talking about Palin. I'm actually glad she got picked, as we got an awesome SNL sketch with the yummy Tina Fay and an awesome short film with Gina Gershon out of it.

Dude, the Obama punch bowl has the best punch you have ever tasted. Have a drink because it's delicious. As I've said many times, this won't be close, it will be an Obama landslide. :vv_la:

Just want to make sure I have this straight.....liberals scream to high heaven about wiretapping to try to stop terrorist attacks here, but find it perfectly ok to hack e-mail and post everything associated with it on their site? How do you find the time to be professional hypocrites?

And republicans are gung-ho against gay marriage, but then solicit gay sex from airport bathrooms? How do they find the time to be professional hypocrites?

Anyway Kilmoll, maybe if every single liberal hacked Sarah Palin's email you would have a point. I actually wasn't even aware that Anonymous was considered Liberal, and regardless, they certainly do not represent a large part of the liberal population, and I really doubt most of the liberals against wiretapping support the hacking in any way.

If you're dumb enough to write incriminating emails (not saying they are incriminating, I don't really care enough to read them) on an extremely popular, publicly accessible, web-based email system then you're too dumb to be a heartbeat away from being president (I mean that idealistically; obviously our current president is at least that dumb). Her password was probably one of her kids' names.

That said, it's not cool to hack peoples' email accounts and post them for the world to see, but who ever said Anonymous was cool? Who ever said they were liberals for that matter? They are a bunch of assholes, in general, and there are plenty of those all along the political spectrum.

Are these emails some indication of impropriety like gawker.com seems to suggest? If so, they will probably be made available via the FOIA at some point anyway.
