John Adams - HBO Mini-Series
I just started watching this today. Absolutely phenomenal thus far. Only on Part 1 of 7. Seeing someone get tar and feathered is just awful. Barbarous.

Re: John Adams - HBO Mini-Series
Cool series. I did not realize how much conflict there was in the early years of forming the government. It made me read more info about that time than I probably would have.

Just finished watching this. Magnificent. Americas story is a wonderous one indeed. I am so proud to be an American. Thank you HBO for making this film. This should be a mandatory watch for all high school students.

There are no brown people in John Adams and the only black people are slaves. So it's OK.Sylvus wrote:But I thought you were against big government education mandates?Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:This should be a mandatory watch for all high school students.

The government can't force his children to be well educated, but they can force them to watch an HBO miniseries.

Re: John Adams - HBO Mini-Series
My desire for students to watch a well done movie about a crucial moment in our countries history versus my fears of becoming a bilingual society is not the same. I'm sorry you have chosen this movie discussion thread to derail and make person attacks on me. I ask of you to rid yourselves of your hatred and preconceived notions and watch this movie. Then return and discuss it, if you wish.

I have watched it, thanks. A couple months ago when it originally ran. I feel sad for you and how emo you are being these days. You should really look into a Prozac prescription and work on turning your emo life around before it's too late. emo.

I do not equate the emo persona to those of a conservative mindset. I find them to be either non political or left-leaning. I thought emo was descriptive of those emo bands, etc. with people who are all depressed about things because they have no real strife in there life, but act like they do. I guess I have it wrong. My apologies, Trollanna.Aslanna wrote:I have watched it, thanks. A couple months ago when it originally ran. I feel sad for you and how emo you are being these days. Wait, you are scared of a bilingual society? Seriously?Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:My desire for students to watch a well done movie about a crucial moment in our countries history versus my fears of becoming a bilingual society is not the same.
What is there to fear, exactly? What if the other language wasn't Spanish -- what if it was Esperanto? Would you still be scared? I just don't see any negative effects from having people speak multiple languages.
Drolgin speaks like 4 languages and he turned out okay!

Okay?? Have you seen how tall he is? He is one of the Muspeli and he shouldn't be trusted. When Ragnarök comes, don't say I didn't warn you.Xouqoa wrote:Drolgin speaks like 4 languages and he turned out okay!

Re: John Adams - HBO Mini-Series
Not at all. I'm afraid of a mandatory bilingual society. I believe there are people who have been working very hard to erase the wonderful foundation America was built on. I believe that there are those who have been working very hard to diminish patriotism and pride in being an American. I fear something like this is yet another device iused by those people. I'm all for voluntary learning of languages. I'm personally working on Spanish. I admire those who speak multiple languages. I think that is fantastic.
Re: John Adams - HBO Mini-Series
What foundation are you referring to? Nearly all of the founding fathers were bi-lingual (at least).Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:Not at all. I'm afraid of a mandatory bilingual society. I don't know, I guess I'd be upset of the government demanded that I learn a second language. Not that I wouldn't love to be able to speak multiple languages. Do computer languages count?
