Most burglars want to avoid confrontations.
They don't break into a home to murder someone.
You don't have to defend yourself from someone who has no intention of harming you.

If you confront an armed intruder with a firearm, chances are one or both of you are going to get shot.
If you don't confront an armed intruder, chances are nobody is going to get shot.

So a handgun under your pillow, or in the inside pocket of your jacket, is going to help you overthrow the US Government? I'd be interested to hear some of the logistics of that. A military coup, using the weapons most often employed when committing violent crimes, versus the strongest military in the world (no offense to America haters!) sounds like it'll go over swimmingly.

If you want to have a nice rifle locked in a case in your den - for when the time comes for you to exercise your 2nd Amendment rights - I'm all for it. A Saturday night special is going to do fuckall in your uprising, if it hasn't already gotten you killed when someone broke into your house to steal your stereo.

My ONLY firearm is a 1943 Moisin Nagant. No pistols, no assault weapons. 1 collectable WWII bolt action rifle. Able to kill someone 2 miles away. Edit: my "assault rifle" a AKS (a semi auto ak-47) I had to get rid of because of the cali gun laws. It had a less powerful round but could hold 40 rounds. So it was deamed evil.

San Diego. To be honest, I cant remeber if the crime happened this week or the conviction (on the radio, loud shop = didnt hear some of it). Also note, there were 2 other males living in the house also, who were tied and beaten.

Also note, the second amendment isnt to allow a small minority the ability to defy the gov't. It is to allow the people as a whole to defy an unjust gov't. 13 divisions of the US army cant (and wont) stop an armed population.

I was curious about this since I know that particular caliber, while often employed as a sniper round, is not meant for extreme long range (i.e. .50 BMG).

1300 meters is accurate range, deadly range would be beyond 4 miles. More than double of my evil AKS.

I'm much more interested in a scenerio, any scenerio, where the American citizens would be called upon to step up and actively overthrow our government. How the people would coordinate to take on our own armed forces and win is only secondary. Just give me that much, Noysyrump. Tell me what our leaders would have to do in order to inspire this uprising. Use your imagination. I want to know the justification for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans by firearms.

Also, please ignore the fact that if said government were to do....something, whatever....to piss it's people off so bad, they wouldn't target the registerd gun owners first as part of thier preemptive evil plan, ala Red Dawn.

If your imagination isn't tired out by that point, please explain how Thomas Jefferson somehow predicted the evolution of modern firearms, thier impact on society, and had all this in mind when he drafted the second amendment.

I won't point out how ludicris your argument is. Instead I'll let you do that yourself.

Ive seen a number of "liberal" remarks about how BUSH wants to do away with the constitution, and set himself up as dictator. So lets just go with that.

Election 2008. Clinton wins by landslide. The people cheer in the streets about how we finally broke the mold, and elected a woman as president. Bush drums up some lie about "civil disorder" and calls the national guard up to invoke marshal law. People are ordered to stay in there homes until all is 'under control'. This also pertains to your news media. A news blackout happens. Bush then has his secret service personel and pentagon officials round up your elected members of congress in the ensuing confusion. And puts them all to the sword. He does not lift the marshal law order until all opposition is done away with and he sends out ATF squads to registered gun owners to liberate them of those dangerouse firearms.

However only handguns (and assault rifles) are registered. Not your "hunting" rifles. Once people figure it out, they take up arms and hold those national guard troops hostage until all is set right in the country.

Far fetched? yes and no. But I'm happy with it never having to happen.

No. I'd rather have the ability to stop it, by shooting his weewee off, or scaring him away, or buying me the time to escape.

If he had the drop on me, I aint gonna run off for my rifle. But if I hear him tearing down the security door and have time to go get it. damn straight i would.

I believe he either helped change them, or he stepped up enforcement. His response to questions about gun control really irks me for some reason. It is not that I view it as an important topic to me, but it is the way he reacts to being asked. He claims responsibility for cleaning the guns off of the streets of New York City, but he also says he would not recommend it be done everywhere. Basically, he wants to be responsible for the NYC streets being "cleaner," but he doesn't want anyone to think he was "for" it.

Exactly. I am not a native of Kansas but I live in Kansas - and the Phelps family is detested by nearly everyone that does not share Phelps DNA. As a matter of fact, the Patriot Guard was created right here in Kansas - if you are not familiar with them, they are patriotic Americans (many veterans) who form a line/blockade at the funerals that the Phelps wackos protest. They do this to shield the family/friends/loved ones from the signs, shouts and insanity of the Phelps protests.

On another note, I went and saw Senator Obama in person today in El Dorado, KS. What a powerful, powerful speaker. I believe in his passion, zeal and committment. I hope the rest of America can truly see who will be best for this country - and who can restore respect to us in the international community and who will lookout for the middle and lower class.

Obama speaks here in Phoenix tomorrow around 3:30pm. I thought about going but am not going to make it. A friend is going so I'll get the scoop from him.

And I could link tens of thousands of incidents where unarmed people have been shot by people that ARE NOT LEGALLY ALLOWED TO OWN A GUN. Can you dreamers understand this for one fucking time ever in your pathetic lives? People that are convicted felons are not allowed to own a gun. They still manage to obtain them and keep them and then use them. Tell me what good a LAW will be that makes it illegal for them to possess a firearm when the CURRENT fucking laws that preven them from owning one have proven to not do one goddamn bit of good.

Come on assholes....enlighten me. The people that go through the time and background checks to prove they are NOT criminals to get a concealed carry shoudl all be stripped of firearms that they carry to protect themselves from the criminals that are running this country now just because you morons and your utopian ideas say so.....yea. Fuck off.

Shootings happen in every country and city on this planet....even the countries where firearms are strictly regulated. Controlling crime is not controlling firearms....it is going to take eliminating criminals with real punishments. You murder...you fry. End of story. Then watch the crime rates drop....Until you liberal tree hugging fags come to terms with that, then suck my dick and get the fuck away from my firearms.

The gun fairy drops them off to all good little crack dealers. Oh wait...maybe Smith & Wesson pass them out with government cheese on the first of each month. Stop being a douche. Millions of people are responsible legal owners of firearms and also have somehow managed to contain themselves and not gone around shooting people. Being a gun owner does not mean you automatically inherit a gene that causes you to plot out some way to murder 50 people in a shopping mall. Lets just roll with your delusional theory that outlawing guns will make every single asshat criminal turn them in by some fucking leprechaun magic. You really should run for offce on the leprechaun magic platform...and once you get all guns off the streets, you can work on the drugs, rape, assault, B&E, and the easter bunny next.

MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani ended his GOP presidential race and endorsed rival Sen. John McCain of Arizona on Wednesday.

And sources say California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger might endorse McCain on Thursday.

"This is a man who is prepared to be president," Giuliani said of his "old friend."

Giuliani said McCain gives the Republican Party the best chance to hold onto the presidency.

"I am very proud to endorse my friend and fellow Republican -- a hero -- John McCain," Giuliani said at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley California, two hours before the Republican presidential candidates were to face each other in their final debate before the Super Tuesday contests next week.

Meanwhile, two Republican sources told CNN that California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is in discussions about endorsing McCain.

Of course Giuliani is going to give a ringing endorsement to the current frontrunner. If he cannot cash in on someone else's success, he will cease to be remembered. And that, he cannot handle.

That would be fucking scary! Of course, if much of their(Homeland security) power is diminished by a reasonable president, his role would be as impotent as it is now. :)

I can't imagine Rudy will get a cabinet spot. Cabinet spots require actual... competence. And familiarity with the bureaucracy. I could see him being VP or, like, ambassador to the UN or something.

At least I hope nobody would be fucking stupid enough to give Rudy a cabinet spot. Jesus.

That was the thing that converted me from a registered democrat to a card holding gun toting republican. Guns are our right, to protect us from the government! So trying to ban them really sets off my alarm.

I'd like nothing more than to see you show up in D.C. with your 9mm and overthrow the government. Please, have one of your ignorant redneck buddies film it and youtube that shit.

Actually you use the handguns for close-in ambushes etc, and aquire rifles/assault-weapons etc that way.

Handgun, rifle, assault rifle, all stand up equally well against depleted uranium shells and air support!

I was in the military and after firing surface to air missiles, howitzers, grenade launchers and heavy machine guns the concept of firing pistols and rifles is kind of meh. I have no desire to own a gun. I guess I got that out of my system (along with my desire to ever go camping again).
