pile on? I think you misunderstood my posts. Also, I started the "discussion" about him dying here, rather than the CE forum. That one started later.

Brandon Lee didn't hold a candle to Ledger's acting. Lee would've just been another Van Damn IMO, nothing more.

Both men died well before their time.

I don't get the fascination with Brandon Lee. Even as Lees go not named Bruce, he wasn't the best. Jason Scott Lee!

I never saw Brokeback Mountain so I'm assuming you're referring to that movie as Ledger's good acting role. I liked him in 10 Things and A Knight's Tale but didn't notice anything out of the ordinary for acting skills, including his role in The Patriot as well. All good, just not great.

It's not just his actual acting. It's the way he was directing his career. He turned down a large number of teen comadies after "10Things" and was only taking roles that both challenged him and he enjoyed. The Joker was a huge undertaking (pun?) for him. I think his skills have sharpened greatly in the past few years and he was only 28. The sky was the limit for Ledger.

I'd strongly disagree with you there. Brandon didn't want to only be doing action movies like his father - but you can't think that anyone that casts him is going to let him not have a fight scene or two (look at Elvis and singing). Given that Brandon was only in 4 movies, it's impossible to know what kind of actor he'd have been. But there are some great scenes in The Crow that he shines as an actor.

I think the only reason he even got a job was because of his father. Yes, The Crow showed signs of imporvement, but I still think he was only an action star, and never wouldv'e achieved any sort of acting recognition, unlike Ledger.

Sounds like if Brandon Lee was still alive, he'd have a stalker!

Ledger played a fudge packer with lots of dialog
Brandon Lee played a mostly silent joker looking character

Brandon Lee is famous because he died and was the son of Bruce Lee. Ledger actually had a few decent films including one he was nominated for an academy award for. I don't think Ledger had a famous parent so he earned his "fame" and was respected by his peers.

Nothing against Brandon Lee, but Heath Ledger should clearly be viewed as the better actor, even if projecting careers beyond their deaths with the material available.

If you stop with 10 Things I Hate About You, how would you rate the two actor's careers? That would make the level of experience basically the same (going by number of projects). I, personally, can remember barely anything about it apart from being a version of Taming of the Shrew.

Heath Ledger has a song and dance musical number he does in that movie...and Brandon Lee only did one movie? If he did more than one, you'd have to include A Knight's Tale and maybe The Patriot for comparison.

Since Brandon Lee really only played a mute scarecrow looking character, you're going purely on speculation. Health Ledger had tons of dialog in A Knight's Tale. Watch it. Not bad for one of someone's early movies. (as is 10 Things)

I was also including both of their TV shows/appearances. Lee had 9 or 10, including a project he had maybe a scene in that was released around 7-8 years after he died and failed TV pilots. Ledger had 3-4 more projects after 10 things and before The Patriot, which included 13 or so TV episodes.

He also did Showdown in Little Tokyo (with Dolf Ludgren) and Rapid Fire. They were both typical action movies of the day. Well, those were pretty bad acton flicks. He did show promise in Crow, but he was an action guy first and foremost. Ledger was an actor first and foremost.

Well, Chuck has Jesus on his side, and God dosen't believe in Asians (not even half asians) so Chuck wins by default.

That's bullshit, but you do whatever you want and see if I give a damn. The same people whining about shit staying on topic are guilty of derailing just as much as the next person here, it's just that people seem to think staying on topic is more important when it is something they are really into, which is b.s.

You want to moderate me/others for making the random jab or off topic comment (sure isn't midnyte's fault in this case if people are too non confrontational or shallow to stay on topic just because he wrote a 5 word post thats off topic) - go ahead and do it, but at that point im going to go out of my way to make your life harder, to prove my point. I'll protect what matters to me and you do the same.

That's why you solo in the corner of the zone near the elder wyverns where the chromos usually don't hang out. Basically the only place where fear kiting worked better than agro kiting for higher (45+) levels.

One time I got killed by Talendor 7 times while trying to get my corpse back from him. Ugh. And then like two days later I got my summon corpse (or whatever it's called) spell. I loved the market value on essence emeralds. That shit was pretty sweet.

I think you misunderstood me. I wasn't pointing fingers at you in particular, but at any and all who derail or post off-topic in this forum. I wasn't threatening bans or anything remotely similar, but was warning that I'd most likely merge the posts into the already existing discussion. So please, get off your paranoid rocking horse.

The 'Arts' forums have mostly remained free from the shitslinging and rampant off-topic posting, providing us with genuinely interesting discussions from time to time, and I'd like it to remain that way.

I never got the impression there were bannings mentioned nor did I say anything like that myself, I do however have a problem with the same people that will derail anything I start whether it's in general discussion, CE or Audio forums having the fucking nerve to even think about opening their insolent fucking mouths to whine when someone does the same to them.

And the point which you decided to jump in was when fair started whining like a little bitch because Mid made a comment, even though he was making a comment about something previously mentioned by multiple other people in the thread, and it wasn't derailing, it wasn't even off topic.

I blame Winnow for the actual derail...although I was the one to ask where they were at in filming when Ledger died.

I was looking forward to the movie before it happened, and I anticipate the media frenzy at release due to his death being more effective than any advertising campaign that could be put on. If the "news organizations" think they can get more viewers by devoting time to things like this, they will do it x5.

First and foremost, all shooting was done on Dark Knight. Ledger's role was complete. However, he was half way through working on another project directed by Terry Gilliam, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, of which Johnny Depp is rumored to be taking over. They were down to green screen work with Imaginarium, and they're now talking about using duel actors for the role Ledger played. It will be interesting to see how that pans out. Terry Gilliam is pretty hit and miss with me.

Secondly, the Dark Knight Returns had a three phase advertising campaign planned all along. The Joker was the lead in, Harvey Dent was the secondary advertising push, and finally it was all about Batman prior to release. The studio had said this well before Ledger's death in response to fans feeling the sequel was going to be too "Joker-centric", leaving Batman in the background.

Keep in mind that the Joker is sharing screentime in this film with Harvey Dent, who plays a major role in the sequel.
