- I assume, like Homercles, that she ejected before the ship imploded. There was a very clear scene of her hand on the ejection lever/handle, and all the stuff with Leoben and her mother seems sort of... pointless... if she was a Cylon.
Sure, no human could survive under that kind of pressure (a ship implodes, but a human doesn't only several feet higher?) but I don't think this show has ever been one to meticulously follow laws of physics.
In short, a lot of the writing and backstory doesn't support her being a Cylon, and if she's a human, that death would have been fucking stupid. I'm going to have to assume the raider saved her somehow. I hope anyway.

This episode pretty much debunked my old theory that she was one of the final five. The appearance of a mother makes her unlikely to be one of the original five cylons. Unless it was all a mind game by Leobon, which wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see when she pops up again.

"I'm a business man. Roots in the community."
I love Badger. Having him as Baltar's defense attorney is a great addition to the show. Plus, the character is very manipulative. Did you guys catch the bit at the end about turning Lee and Adama against one another? He's gonna steal quite a few of the scenes he's in, I guarantee it.

I watched all 19 episodes of season three over the past few days.
Having skipped season two, it still wasn't hard to get back into the show.
Some notes:
-Why do they show a 5-10 second burst of what happens in the episode about to be aired right after the opening credits? I didn't know they did that and it ruined an episode for me. After that, I averted my eyes.
-I don't want to exaggerate but the amount of alcohol consumed in this series has to be a record. It beats Deadwood in that department and comes close to beating Deadwood for the number of times Fuck/Frak is said per episode (could be a drinking game!)
That said, the series is excellent. Obviously, I'm hooked. You can sense the "filler" episodes but they're still well worth watching and typically make a statement about a current affair in our present day lives.

Somewhere in the commentary they explain its an homage to another show. I can't remember which one, but I don't think it was something I had heard of before. They took it out for a few episodes (maybe half a season) of Season 2 but added it back. Guess people missed it an complained, but I know they took it out because people complained it was a spoiler. No pleasing everyone!.Why do they show a 5-10 second burst of what happens in the episode about to be aired right after the opening credits? I didn't know they did that and it ruined an episode for me. After that, I averted my eyes.
I personally love it and was upset when I saw the first episide that didn't have it (thrilled when it came back). Most of the shots are so short I don't feel it gives much away, especially when you have no context. For me it starts the show out with a high intensity vibe.
You are doing yourself a disservice by not watching season 2. It was an amazing season even though the last episode made me feel like I got cheated out of a year of the crew's life. Season 3 pales in comparison. It's still one of the best shows on TV, but its starting to feel more like "television" than one long kickass fast-paced movie.

It was a show called Space 1999 I think. I personally hate the glimpses of the episode and close my eyes for them, even when watching the episode again on DVD. Luckily it is easy to tell when they're over by the music
The skipped ahead a year in the end of the 2nd season pissed me off too, but I think it was more because it was so jarring. In retrospect you find out about what happened with most of them during that year anyways, so it works out. But yeah, I remember seeing the "1 year later" or whatever note appear and saying out loud "What the fuck?".

My favorite episode is the one where Lee has to complete a tough mission without Starbuck (her leg was fucked up) and how everyone doubted that he could pull it off like she could. I tear up every time he tosses that lighter to his dad at the end.
Or maybe its the one where Starbuck crashes on that planet and finds the cylon ship.

My fav episode has got to be "Pegasus". Besides having the coolest music in the series yet, the showdown between Admiral Caine and Adama near the end gets my heart pumping everytime I watch it.
Boogahz, that was a great scene. It was so cool to see a ship falling in the sky and then...poof...just disappear.

Yeah "Pegasus" was great. They could have kept Caine around a little longer I think. They initiated and resolved that whole plot really quickly!Kaldaur wrote:My fav episode has got to be "Pegasus". No kidding. Especially considering the death of Caine was the sole motivation in giving Lee a commanding job...which he promptly lost when Pegasus went out for lunch against the Cylons. Michelle Forbes is such a badass, I wish they would have kept that tension between the two commanders going.
Of course, Caine dying put Adama back in command. I doubted the show would have done as well if Adama was suddenly relegated to a subordinate position.

I grabbed the season 2 episodes tonight and will watch them over the next few days. If they're better than season 3 as you say, I need to watch them.Lalanae wrote:You are doing yourself a disservice by not watching season 2. Good news for BSG Season Four:
By MICHAEL HINMAN
Source: TV Week
Mar-21-2007
It won't come back until January at the earliest, but "Battlestar Galactica" fans do have something to celebrate now: A 22-episode fourth season. But the question remains whether this back-nine pickup is good for the show, or bad.
The 22-episode order includes the two-hour telemovie that has been talked about for some time, which will air in the fall on SciFi Channel as well as a direct-to-DVD release, with the other 20 episodes beginning in 2008, TV Week reports. Ratings have been down during BSG's third season, and there was some fear -- especially after SciFi Channel moved the show to Sunday nights -- that the future of the show would be iffy at best.
A pickup such as this can mean only one of two things. SciFi Channel has a lot of confidence in the show to continue another 22 episodes, or this is going to give producers enough time to wrap up the show. (See previous story)
If this order is completed, this will make "Battlestar Galactica" 79 episodes long, if the miniseries and the upcoming telemovie is broken up into separate episodes, moving into the range of a decent syndication package that could be offered to television stations.
The announcement does come just days before the highly anticipated third-season finale of the show. "Battlestar Galactica" airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on SciFi Channel.

I am all for this show wrapping up after four seasons. The last thing I want BS to become is a dead-on-arrival show hanging onto its seventh season. If this upcoming season is going to be the last, I know that the writers will make it the best season ever, and every episode will have me on the edge of my seat.

Im watching episode 6 of season two as I write this. Watching the second season is well worth it. I now see what happened to Starbuck while under the care of the Cylons. (extra scar)...the thing is, if she's a Cylon, implanting something in her wouldn't matter as she's dead now and has most likely been reborn on a Cylon regen ship.
The Boomer/Athena thing is clearing up a bit as well.
Side note: The shaky cam is a bit out of control in season two. The camera motion and zoom in and outs have me a bit bothered. Nice to see that was reduced slightly in season three. i don't mind the technique, just a bit much at times.

Just read that there is a spinoff "Caprica" in the works. Not much info on it out there, but looks like April 2008 according to imdb.

And wasn't that Bono singing it? I read a report today from the director who said they really are Cylons but didn't elaborate on the Starbuck thing, maybe she is, maybe she isn't...
He also said though that these are fundamentally different from all other Cylons and how they were different would be played out next year.

The Season finale, up until the very last part, was good. Nice speech by Lee Adama.
Starbuck could end up being a conscious thing for Lee Adam like Six is with Baltar although he did see a bogey on his radar.
Overall, the last episode seemed rushed. A lot of confusion for sure but the drama seemed to be lacking.
I still have seven more episodes of season two to enjoy. I hope season four doesn't get out of hand.
Since the fleet is dead in the water, I wonder if Starbuck has something to do with the Cylons wanting to get to Earth along with the humans (cooperatively) instead of competing with them...dunno, but something's whacky. The fleet should be destroyed if the Cylons were able to cut the power to all the ships. The power was also restored without the aid of the humans. With all ships losing and gaining power at once, it seems the Cylons are in control of them atm.
The biggest question for next season (if there is going to be a fifth season) is what year will it be on Earth when they get there and can they pump out another 22-23 episodes after finding Earth? If Starbuck knows where Earth is, I can't imagine it taking them more than next season's 22 episodes (plus the two hour special) to find it!

The power came right back on when the four "realized" they were Cylons. Maybe a coincidence...maybe not.
I really loved the finale. I thought the courtroom scenes were great, and Lee's speech is one of my favorite moments from the show.
As for Starbuck...she came and went on Draedus, so who knows if she is actually there.
Tigh as a Cylon...that's irony for ya.
10/10, can't wait till next year.

When they first jumped there weren't any Cylons there. My guess is that the Cylon fleet set off an EMP pulse then jumped in. Once their jump was completed 4 of the final 5 knew who they were...
I'm also betting that this Cylon fleet is made up of the final 5s and is competing with the other 7 models. These are the hybrids that are more human, they beat the "Cylon" test right? The Dir, said these guys were fundamentally different so I may be wrong. It may be that the final 5 are truly just the final 5 and there aren't copies of them... who knows.

I don't think I can wait until 2008, but I know I'll have to. What torture.
I wonder when that 2 hour movie thing will come out. Hopefully some time in the middle to tide us over until January.

Re: Battlestar Gallactica - The Final Five?
SighThe upcoming fourth season of Sci Fi Channel's "Battlestar Galactica" will be its final one after all.
After months of speculation, the show's producers are set to make the announcement at a press conference Friday.
Ending "Battlestar" with the upcoming 22-episode fourth season was a creative decision made by the hit show's executive producers Ronald Moore and David Eick.
"This show was always meant to have a beginning, a middle and, finally, an end," Eick and Moore said in a statement Thursday. "Over the course of the last year, the story and the characters have been moving strongly toward that end, and we've decided to listen to those internal voices and conclude the show on our own terms. And while we know our fans will be saddened to know the end is coming, they should brace themselves for a wild ride getting there -- we're going out with a bang."
The fourth and final season of "Galactica" will kick off in November with "Razor," an extended two-hour episode, with the rest of the season slated to run beginning in early 2008.
Sci Fi executive vp original programming Mark Stern said the channel's brass "respect the producers' decision to end the series."
For months, Sci Fi had dispelled rumors about "Battlestar" ending its run after the fourth season.
A couple of weeks ago, one of the show's stars, Edward James Olmos, was quoted as saying that the upcoming batch of episodes were definitely the last ones. Sci Fi issued a statement denying such a decision had been made.

Re: Battlestar Gallactica - The Final Five?
Well, ill rather have it end after season 4, than have it just drag on and be cancelled without an ending.

BG has had some narrative pacing issues, imo, so maybe this is the best thing, as much as I will be sad to see it go. The Season 2 story line was rushed and the Season 3 story line felt like it lost a lot of its steam. Better that it go out while its still a great narratively-focused show.
God, I will miss that sexy Lee Adama though...

I'm ambivalent. I want it to go on forever, because this is my favorite show on TV. Yet, as I said above, I'm glad because this way it goes out on top. Four seasons is enough to tell the story they wanted to tell. We'll find out about Earth, we'll find out about the Cylons, and we'll get answers to everything we need to know, all in the next 22 episodes. That's exciting and saddening all at the same time. Oh well, I can't wait till January.

Re: Battlestar Gallactica - The Final Five?
Here's a thought. Do you guys remember way back in the beginning when Roslin was getting into the prophecy stuff, and her cancer became more pronounced? She talked about how "a leader was supposed to bring them to the promised land, but they wouldn't make it there." or something of that regard.
Well, Roslin has been thinking that she was this leader that was talked about, but as we all know, prophecy is pretty murky. What if Baltar is the leader that is going to lead them to the promised land, and he's the one that ends up dying? That's God's plan for him, to lead his people to salvation, resulting in his death? It would give Baltar, one of the best villians ever, a chance to be redeemed. The extra bonus is that Roslin gets to live as well and settle down with Adama and have lots of cute, raspy voiced babies.
It's just an idea, I haven't checked the forums or anything for any possible correlation. I was watching the mini series again recently, and that popped into my head.

Interesting theory. I buy it. Would certainly give a nice twist to Baltar and Roslyn.
Oh and LOL at the "cute, raspy voiced babies" comment
Edit: the more I think about it, the more I like it. I love a villian that redeems himself in the end. Good reason to justify my fantasies...and yes, I think Baltar is hot in that revenge fuck kind of way.
