well after drowning my sorrows after the England game im gonna post a comment:

Shit.

Ronaldo should be shot, how U can get ur fellow club team mate who U have to spend 10+ months with sent off is beyond belief.
Rooney stamp... well i don't know, the papers in England are blaming him for the result but the media in Britain is bollocks anyway so, i dont think it was a stamp but the ref's decision in the end.
Our penalty taking has been shit for years...
Lampard was the biggest dissappointment in the tournament, for Chelsea for the last two years he has been the best player in the league and he is a good player in the Champions League but on the World Stage he bottled it. His Penalty said it all... dull and lifeless.

my 2 favourite teams went out yesterday... for me.. the world cups over.

GO ITALIA !!!
fucking french! why the hell after 8 years do they start playing good soccer in the LEAST opportune time! spain could have easily taken brazil and lost to germany in the finals :-x

italy has been slacking big time, germany has played a flawless game. unless there is a major upset, i would say they have an easy world cup win...if FUCKING FRANCE :x keeps this streak alive then i wouldnt be at all surprised to see them in the finals either, but it will likely be portugal germany

WE were shit throughout the tournament and got what we deserved. I would have dropped Lampard and Beckham after the second match.
I don't think Rooney's stamp was deliberate but the shove was a straight red so we can't complain.
Fuck Eriksson for only taking one fit striker with premiership experience. And double fuck him for that being Crouch. We defended well throughout and passed through midfield well but you'll win fuck all playing 4-6-0.
Christ.

True. You wont find any better supporters than British soccer supporters. That is, when you ignore the bad apples. And even with those bad apples.. heh that is nothing compared to Galatasaray vs Besiktas. That might as well be war!

I am soooo ready for the Germany v Italy game tomorrow. Not to discount France or Portugal, but this feels more like the final to me given the history of the two teams in the World Cup...yes, I choose to ignore Germany's record against Italy in the World Cup.

heh you speak as if italy has a chance

if italy beats germany, i would go as far as to say that would be the biggest upset in this world cup (not like there has been that many :-x , no godamned underdog teams even in the round of 8, such a lame, boring world cup)

Every single one of my predictions and wagers on this tournament has been a laughable failure so far so I'm not going to argue :)

But Germany lost 4-1 to Italy only a couple of months ago.

in Florence when they may not have "believed" as much as they do now! Ok, maybe not, but I still pick Germany over Italy today.

Italy really hasn't been tested. Sure, the only goal they gave up was one that they scored on themselves, but the attacks of most of their opponents were not as frequent. The Italians have skated through their games so far relying on fouls and penalties while controlling the ball more than their opponents. Their own attacks have been infrequent as well. It's like Germany plays in the attacking half, and Italy stays at midfield. You can only win by doing that if you're able to fend off attacks yourself. This is where I see Germany edging ahead.

But that's been the Italian way for decades: Sit back and soak it up, nick a goal on the break then dive like girly men and time waste til the end of the match.

The "blue diver" did win, but in the end that is not how they beat Germany. The first goal caught too many Germans attacking the ball and opening up too big of a hole in the box, but the second was just plain pretty.

I had hoped to see France v Germany in the final, but now I want to see the two in the consolation game. Italy v Portugal in the final, and Portugal wins with a man or two down, hehe.

Italy did well to win, it's just a pity their professional pussies team of acting wankers are an embarrasment to their country and all Italians everywhere.

If it turns into an Italy V Portugal final this world cup will have shown nothing more than that cheating ham actors will prevail.

Maybe you haven't been watching as much as I have, but all the teams do this. Italy may do it 5% more than many others, but they all do this shit all game long. It is awful and I wish for it to change as well. But, it's a huge problem everywhere, not just teams like Italy and Portugal.

i agree about italy, but for the most part they played damn well yesterday (for one of the 1st times in this WC), you could tell they were yearning for that final much harder then germany, despite there thespian crew, that 1st goal with like 2 minutes left in overtime was one of the best in this world cup, either way they are my pick for the final. cant stand portugal or france!

Italy deserved to win, but they have had a reputation for years and years to be cheaters and divers. Sorry Midnyte, even though they did not really show this in their last two games it is true and they did it early in the cup as well.

Personally I hope France blows Portugal out of the water today. I can't stand Portugal, they have become worse than Italy by far.

No doubt. Those first 3 games of group play were pathetic with all that flopping. The last 3 have been much much better. I noticed all the teams have played more and acted less since group play ended.

I think a big part of that is that the ref's, in general, have stopped paying attention to the dives and letting the players just play. The problem is that they are supposed to CALL the dives, not ignore them.

There have been yellow issued for diving. Problem is, it is very subjective. The refereeign though was phenomenal yesterday. They let the players play. FIFA needs to make the other refs watch that game.

There was at least one dive in that game that I started laughing at. I think it was Zambrotta who went down and looked towards the ref. When the ref did not blow the whistle he blatantly went into "dive mode" and grabbed his leg and started rolling. This was on a close up of him after the fall too. It was so damned obvious. The refs did, and should, let play continue, but these players do nothing but hurt the image of the sport when they pull crap like that.

Boog, i agree Italy deserved to win, but it was in a poor way. The 2 goals were nice, really the shoot of Grosso and the way Del Pierro aimed the top corner...two beuatifull goal...but after more than 100 mins were so few happened !

And beside if Italy plays Portugal it is gonna be a show...Portugese are playing quiete rough and Italians are diving divas.

As someone said, sometimes during the match it was sooo obvious...the player falls, look where the ball is going and what is gonna happen, and decide to act or not to stop the game.

I hate some players like Gattuso, who keep making little fouls even when they help someone to get up. I hate that..really

The first 20 minutes were entertraining but for the rest...France stopped playing during 2nd half...bouuuuuh hope the final will make up for all those boring games.

that was the ref who did the US, Italy game who should have been fired right after that game!

france did clearly play better, but that penalty kick was VERY subjective, i just hate to see any game decided on a penalty

This has been my most enjoyable World Cup. But, I attribute that to the fact, I work from home and have been able to watch every match, many of them in HD, and ITALIA is doing great!

Statistically it's been the worst world cup ever, I've read. Lowest number of goals in the knockout stage ever - even beating the woeful Italia90 that led to the back pass being outlawed.
Too many card-happy refs (FIFA's fault, tbh) have led to subdued play and Blatter's aim of "protecting skillful players" has led to the death of the fantastic tackle. When it's too risky to tackle the opposing strikers you just have to choke off their supply by playing insanely boring 4-5-1 formations (the debil).
Time for instant-replay officials. I don't like the 2-refs idea.

Hopefully the final will see an early goal. It's more likely to be another tedius stalemate though :/

Well a low-scoring game doesn't have to be boring though. I thoroughly enjoy the chessmatch that has been going on in many of the games. Some of the most entertaining games I have ever seen have been low scoring.
