The Island - DVD

Post by Fairweather Pure »

This movie was compelling, well acted, and visually stylized. In short, I can't believe Michael Bay made this movie. Sure, there were several 360 degree spinning shots, which is a Bay trademark, but the rest was just extremely well done. I was plesantly surprised. Going into it, I was hoping for a 6 at best, but after having watched it, I give it a solid 9.

The story is a mix of 1984, The Matrix, and Logan's Run. Still, it manages to become it's own film thanks in part to the excellent acting by Ewan McGregor, Steve Buscemi, Scarlett Johansson, and several other faces you will recognize.

As with most action movies, you'll have to suspend disbelief at more than one point during the movie, but all in all, it defiantely adds up to a great summer flick. There is a highway chase that was as breathtaking as the chase in Matrix Reloaded, which I didn't think could be beat.

Give it a chance, I think most people would really enjoy it.

I enjoyed the first half better than the second. (I think I already said that somewhere else in another post about this movie)

Good stuff but the shaky camera, super long chase scenes in the second half of the movie didn't add much to the story for me. Still worth watching.

I really liked the film. I'll definitely be purchasing this one. Scarlett has mega hooters.

Those aren't hooters, they are water baloons.
Does she think those things actually look good?

Well, at least they are real and not injected into her. Bad dress for her but she does have some awesome ones.

Oh, come on now...red carpet dresses are rarely attractive--unless they are made out of red carpet, of course.

Miir, that image is possibly the least appealing I've ever seen of the lovely lady Johan. They certainly do look like water balloons in that picture.

Rented it tonight.
The last 30 minutes or so really dragged.

It was a decent time waster. Well worth the rental price.
