Brisket is still a low quality, less desirable cut of meat. It's tough, muscle-y and generally very fatty.

The most common brisket cut is basically stew meat. It needs to be slow cooked for a long time because it's tough, chewy, almost inedible if it's not.

The better quality 'brisket' cut (front cut) is actually quite good, but wasting it in a sandwich would be idiotic. It makes a good pot roast.
