REALLY?????
What the fuck would you expect?
Seeing as you didn't even offer any coherent reason as to why you thought it sucked, I would just assume that you didn't even play it.
Sorry, but I don't usually judge games by what someone who has never played it says about it.
I never said anything in my last post related to bugs, although I mentioned it earlier in the thread, the bugs didn't deter me from this game, while it may deter others.
Yeah, I never played it miir. Keep believing. I bow to your superior gaming prowess.
/sarcasm off
One, of the many reasons for thinking this game sucks in a nut shell is that first impressions are everything. If you don't grab the attention of your audience in the very first minutes of gameplay (much like the movie did), you're not going to keep them interested in paying for the entertainment or continuing to play.
For example, the entrance storyline with WoW with every character race flyby was something I had never seen in an MMO before and gave me a storyline about my character early on. That laid the groundwork for me to go out and explore and gather more storyline about what happened with my character's race lore and the like. It made me want to play and experience the world more.
M:O had me as a Red Pill being rescued ala Matrix movie style, but not in the way I would have liked to see. It put you in the perspective on the ship seaching for your character and narrowing you down from other people in the Matrix. The update where you saw the ship doors opening up picking you up was an addition that was nice but not enough. I felt very very disconnected from my created character after I entered the Matrix.
What if the beginning gave you a first person perspective of everything that was going on around you. Meeting a Morpheus style character in a normal setting to bring you out of the Matrix. Waking up in the pool of the pink stuff and looking around at the other "battery" tubes surrounding you before a machine grabs you and disconnects you, then you go down the tubes and fall into the pool before the ship saves you. Then add some storyline while you're choosing your skill bases and other things while your "muscles and body are being rebuilt" like Neo had to go through in the movie.
A first person perspective would have made things much more believable
to me at the beginning and definately during gameplay. (much in the style of something like Half Life when the lab malfunctions in the beginning), but like I said, this is just one of the factors that leads me to my opinions of M:O.
I was unimpressed with everything the game involved, much after the first moments of gameplay. The quests never seemed to matter to me. I got tired of delivering disks, or talking to this person on the 3rd floor of the building, or kill this guy for the information he has. I understand you have to have a quest system in a game to advance, but it's not something that was very "Matrix" to me.
Like I said before, the most excitement I had was running into a subway station and running into an Agent and being chased until I got bored and let him kill me. The fighting styles were cool, but was not enough to keep me interested. It just seemed repetitive to me, jack in, do a mission, kill a couple guys, get another mission, jack out.
I never said I played for just a few hours, but you assume I did. I played for several days, honestly, but I didn't have a timer on when or for how long I played.
Honestly though, if you find enjoyment playing this game, by all means, play it.
