Mid,

The Kierkegaard quote in your signature is from "Either/Or." Have you read the book or was the quote something which just struck you?

Just so you know, I'm not trying to belittle you in any way. I'm genuinely curious about what you thought of the book.

That quote grabbed me. But, I have not read the book. If I can ever get caught up at work I might pick it up and then I'll let you know.

You do realize that Kierkegaard was an existentialist right? Just like Nietzsche but Religious. If you want to read him I would suggest Concluding Unscientific Postscript as an excellent read. However be warned. While he is very religious in his ideas on Knights of Faith, which I agree very much with him on, he is also... dare I say... pretty libreal in how he interprets the world and how we should draw meaning from it.

I truly find his understanding of Christanity as a model for my own but it's not something you will find in your average Church, it's more what I believe Jesus was trying to get across but hey, he was a liberal too right?

Just giving ya a heads up!

Someone with your 'beliefs' using a line from Kierkegaard is ironic. Read any of his work and you will see why.

As I said, it is a relatively simple concept.

See it's not simple though. Just because he may or may not hold belief very different than mine doesn't mean I cannot appreciate some of the things he has said. Whether or not he may have been a wacked out far left extremist liberal, the quote I have in the sig line, is absolutely beautiful and rings so fucking true.

Only two lines after he said this (an uneducated viewpoint remember in this particular instance)
Whether or not he may have been a wacked out far left extremist liberal
Which he isn't......

It is still ironic, and your point is moot as I never claimed anything contrary to what you just said.

Exactly. I'm sure you could find a quote or two from Hitler (since that seems to be the de facto standard of evil on VV) that taken out of context or without knowing who said them, would be decent quotes.

If I cared enough I am sure (as the two examples above show) I could find a plethora of instances where you have been both racist and bigoted and small minded and a "pigeonholer".

Wrong. I made an observation. I didn't presume to know everything about this man.

Dimebag? I said it was shocking it happened to a man named dimebag. Trouble finds people who open themselves up to trouble happening to them by partaking in troublesome events. With an increased frequency your chances of being ain a troublesome situation increase as well.

What y'all need to realize is that even though Midnyte does everything he bitches about other people doing, it is all ok because it is him. It is a typical "Don't do as I do, do as I say" example. Quite amusing to watch actually, and leaves me to wonder just how fucked up his kids will be.

There's your actual quote. It's funny how skewed your view of the world is. You absolutely pigeonhole people and are probably the biggest hypocrite I've ever seen. Please note that you're the one who calls people liberals as if it's an insult, says "Fuck Muslims", and shows no pity nor respect for two dead artists that you admittedly know little about other than to judge them from one or two factoids you heard about them.

You are the king of the pigeonhole.

That is downright laughable right there. People don't like it because you say something asinine and then stick to how right you are when you're totally fucking wrong or completely contradicting yourself.

It is ironic because someone used a quote from someone that has the opposite general beliefs of the person who quoted it. In some way it makes Midynte a worse person, although I have not been able to figure out exactly how.

In other words, it is someone attacking Midnyte just because they have beliefs opposite of his. You want some irony, then choke to death on it Teeny.

This thread cracks me up!

I think it's great that Mid is going to check out some of his philosophy! It's better to encourage open mindedness than to bash someone because they don't have it... doing that usually results in just the opposite :) Not saying I haven't been guilty of doing it, just saying it's usually not the best way to proceed. Hey we are all human right?

Ok guys, my mum went into hospital tonight. I reckon she will be ok, but it's made me think as I browse through this endless barrage of hateful ignorance, what is the fucking point of me coming here?

At one point you could rely on Aranuil, or Voronwe, or Laliana, Or Zamtuk, Zealath, or Raistin, or Sartori, or Xou, or Drolgin, or Sueven (even Winnow! :P) (much much <3 to you chaps/chapettes), or any number of intelligent people to post interesting intelligent concepts here, many of which would be built upon and discussed and even while venomous, a semblance of intelligence definately shown through.

That is seemingly dead in this particular forum for the most part (especially in regard to US foreign policy and that age old chestnut - fact).

I said the same in a much less subtle way a while back.

Maybe I have been much too militant in my views with some of you, then again I am not the one using my military to force those views on others, but I don't expect some here will ever understand that oh so subtle little issue.

You certainly haven't so far.

Your idealism is wrong because it excludes the majority of the species in which you are nothing more than supporting bit part players, in the reality of things.

Anyway, the following no doubt will be met with both apathy and ecstasy from various board members, no doubt the Carts, the Kilmolls, the Arumans etc (oddly enough I easily hold Mid above these reprobates, hmm) will be ejaculating all over their children (poor kids) at the thought of me not posting on the CE forum anymore, but that's what I am essentially saying.

It's not defeatism, I just simply don't have the time or effort now to keep calling people out on the stupidity that many members of this community see.

Balls to this, you are wasting your own time and other peoples if you cannot take part in even vaguely open intellectual discussion.

You are fully aware of who you are and until you sort that out (if ever?), good luck, but I'm out.

Get your digs in now lads, because it's the last chance you'll be getting for the forseeable future.

I'll see you on the other forums.

i dunno where you think he contributes well to the current events board(not that i do), but in reading, all i see is a bunch of anti-american posts from him that are inflammatory 99% of the time or some very negative responses to other peoples' posts to bait them

i see teeny as a forum troll more than a contributor :P...though i hope his mom gets better on the unrelated topic front.
