I think it's nice to see the generosity some people either are truthfully expressing or just professing they have and will do, however, they will have enough money without you. They will recieve so much money from the countries around the world, they will have plenty left over for scandals and scumbags to profit and retire from.Krimson Klaw wrote:Thanks for the link Chmee, I encourage everyone to hit amazon up for at least 5 bucks. It's a combo meal at McDonalds and if everyone did it, they would have more than enough aid.

Not at all. Im saying the people who collect the monies will have some among them who are corrupt. They will claim they don't have anough money and they will pocket a lot of it. Look at the way many of these people lived. In huts? What's the rebuilding expense involved there? 40 bucks?Lynks wrote:So negative...
Are you saying the American Red Cross is corrupt?
I saw on CNN, something like 10,000 extra Harley Davidson T-Shirts were heading over to one of the countries hit by the tsunami. It's no wonder when you go to many third world countries you see all sorts of odd clothing with american logos. Our companies send off all the poor selling things to them as donations. I'm sure they're happy to get them though.

I would rather donate (and did) to this cause then to some political party crap that does absolutely nothing but waste it on money attacking the other person. At least the survivors will see some of it and it may help them.I think it's nice to see the generosity some people either are truthfully expressing or just professing they have and will do, however, they will have enough money without you. Glad to see the holiday spirit is so strong in you Midnyte.

If "holiday spirit" means "foolishness", then you're right I don't have any.Tyek wrote:I would rather donate (and did) to this cause then to some political party crap that does absolutely nothing but waste it on money attacking the other person. It's really amazing to watch the number grow on Amazon's donation page. It jumped by over $20k when I refreshed the page after a couple minutes. Fortunately, the vast majority of people have big hearts, and the outpouring of support (financial and otherwise) is awe inspiring.

"A merry Christmas, uncle! God save you!" cried a cheerful voice. It was the voice of Scrooge's nephew, who came upon him so quickly that this was the first intimation he had of his approach.Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:If "holiday spirit" means "foolishness", then you're right I don't have any.Tyek wrote:I would rather donate (and did) to this cause then to some political party crap that does absolutely nothing but waste it on money attacking the other person. "Bah!" said Scrooge, "Humbug!"
He had so heated himself with rapid walking in the fog and frost, this nephew of Scrooge's, that he was all in a glow; his face was ruddy and handsome; his eyes sparkled, and his breath smoked again.
"Christmas a humbug, uncle!" said Scrooge's nephew. "You don't mean that, I am sure."
"I do," said Scrooge. "Merry Christmas! What right have you to be merry? What reason have you to be merry? You're poor enough."
"Come, then," returned the nephew gaily. "What right have you to be dismal? What reason have you to be morose? You're rich enough."
Scrooge having no better answer ready on the spur of the moment, said "Bah!" again; and followed it up with "Humbug."
"Don't be cross, uncle!" said the nephew.
"What else can I be," returned the uncle, "when I live in such a world of fools as this? Merry Christmas! Out upon merry Christmas! What's Christmas time to you but a time for paying bills without money; a time for finding yourself a year older, but not an hour richer; a time for balancing your books and having every item in 'em through a round dozen of months presented dead against you? If I could work my will," said Scrooge indignantly, "every idiot who goes about with 'Merry Christmas' on his lips, should be boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart. He should!"
"Uncle!" pleaded the nephew.
"Nephew!" returned the uncle, sternly, "keep Christmas in your own way, and let me keep it in mine."
"Keep it!" repeated Scrooge's nephew. "But you don't keep it."
"Let me leave it alone, then," said Scrooge. "Much good may it do you! Much good it has ever done you!"
Hehe, Midnyte, you are actually fun sometimes.
First you complain about some countries dont do anything, when thats disproven, you say whee, how good we all are to help, then when people say theyre gonna donate some of their OWN money you call them fools.
Oh well, i guess Midnite gonna be one of the first to complain about the rest of the world not helping when you guys need help when Bush are done running down your economy.
Oh, and about corruptness, how much money was it Haliburton managed to "loose" of those rebuilding funds?

Asshole! I was talking reality. Yes, I too agree Haliburton or companies like it make extra money during times of need. When there is so much money being thrown at a problem, money gets lost.Hesten wrote:Hehe, Midnyte, you are actually fun sometimes.

The "hippocrisy" in that statement is just awe inspiring.Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:Yes, I too agree Haliburton or companies like it make extra money during times of need. I guess it's OK for KBR/Halliburton to steal because they're on the "good team"?
Did you ever stop to consider that Halliburton / Cheney possibly might have manufactured the whole Iraq war for no reason except profit?
Yeah but then I took my lithium and wore my tinfoil hat and got over it.Tenuvil wrote:Did you ever stop to consider that Halliburton / Cheney possibly might have manufactured the whole Iraq war for no reason except profit?

I don't think it was manufactured either. I think you could argue that Midnyte' statement that Haliburton "loses some of the money" that was thrown at them, but that the Red Cross and other Charities are stealing the money being earmarked for aid is just as stupid, and possibly more then the manufactured commment was.
he implies that Haliburton accidently lost some money, yet a charity purposely steals it, whatever. Sad to think I actually belong to the same political party as him. I guess I should be happy that is the only thing we seem to share.

I would rather give directly to a specific charity.Tyek wrote:I don't think it was manufactured either. That pooled money makes it too easy/tempting for the system to be abused. It may not have happened, but the possibility is there for it to happen.
