While I appericate your concern for the other people on the Vault and while I know we do not and have never gotten along, for myself, the right action was to apologize and then offer. At the time, there were 2 - sports, VG. Incorpriating the EQ discussion into a FF area in the hope to draw new posters to it failed, and as such, conversations ensued that corrected my assumption and the assumptions of another individual about what we could / could not do and it's been a dead point since until this post.

Uh, EQ flames and insults are the complete, entire, whole reason this board was started. It's what drew everyone to this board, and the IGN board when we were there. I cant tell you how much a section of a messageboard is fun, when it doesnt have personal attacks every other damn post. There is no real modding. The sports had a simple rule and ASKED people to stay on topic and not spam threads of soandso sport sucks dick. When we had 12 postsout of 17 that was accusing eachother of being a pussy IRL at a fanfair in a thread of a Kobe and Shaq thread, I edited it out.

Should ark step down? No. You people crying like bitches should shut the fuck up. Did he mess up ? Not in my mind, but he should have been more clear and asked the Ok for it.

I voted for Kerry, but Im over the fact he lost so the rest of you people can get over it also and stop tring to blame ark for bs!

I agree that Akaran was going about what he was trying to do in completely the wrong way, he was deleting and editing posts, as well as taking things personally.

However, the direction for moderation was unclear. Sylvus said as much in the moderators forum. If you need further evidence of that, look at the way the sports forum was being moderated, and is (to my knowledge) still being moderated.

The role of the moderator in the subforums should be to maybe spark interest in related topics. Moderator shouldn't mean anything more than that.

There are some very useful discussions that take place in computers, sports, video games, emulation and mod forums but they tend to handle themselves.

There's no reason a flame war can't break out if someone is posting faulty info or is fanboi'ing a particular crap product though!

(And to address Spang's comment, from what I understand, forum moderators are supposed to add relevant content to areas they are moderating. So for example an EQ moderator would post patch messages, etc..)

I appear to have made 1 post in this thread that is legitimately discussing the topic, and one clarifying the reason the moderation was briefly unclear.

The moderation level for all forums has been clarified by those in power (READ: Xouqoa, Pyrella and Sylvus), and as far as I know, all moderators have adjusted accordingly. That said, go fuck yourself if you think this is even REMOTELY like IGN. That doesn't even have a place in the discussion. I am in full agreement with Aslanna, and Raistin on what they believe the moderation SHOULD be like in some of the subforums. If you're keeping score at home, it will be painfully obvious that Raistin, Aslanna and I do not always agree, so that should say something right there.

I can pretty much guarentee Aranuil, Raistin and Winnow do not tend to agree on many things, however:

To state that it is ok to have more strict modding in any forum is contrary to the very spirit of this board. Do not get me wrong, I can understand some anon dick being banned, but whoever decides to create their own little boards to throw their weight around needs to realise this is the wrong fucking forum for it. The wrong site entirely.

I am not in disagreement that in certain forums we should be keep on topic, but to create FF forums is bullshit.

And I have respect for Raistin, Winnow (somehow, the big neotard!) and Noel but I just cant agree with what is a rewriting of the rules. It's unnecessary and not one persons place simply because they wrangled a modability.

Finally, if you are a mod on this site, surely it is your responsibility to act like a mod on Flamevault, not a regular mod on IGN. If you forget this, I dont see why you should be a moderator.
