You really would be doing them a favor. This is the first time I ever truly thought the *majority* of americans were dumb.
Your country is controlled by religous, soicial conservative, country music singing, nascar\wrestling loving, nutcases. Run for the hills.

If that's what passes for an intellectual these days the whole world is fucked, not just the US.Pardon me while I stab myself in the head and hope the ambulance doesn't come in time.
You're 18 fucking years old and consider yourself an intellectual? Did you fucking graduate high school at 9 yrs old and spent the last 9 years matriculating?
You don't have enough life experience to know anything other than pull your fucking pecker out of your pants to keep from creaming all over yourself when some little hottie swishes her ass in front of you.

I applaud him for being so passionate about the election. 83% of his age group doesn't give two shits about the election and the fact that he cares so deeply about it is commendable.Neost wrote:If that's what passes for an intellectual these days the whole world is fucked, not just the US.Pardon me while I stab myself in the head and hope the ambulance doesn't come in time.

I have voted in every election since 1978 with the exception of one. I was in the military in Germany and didn't get my absentee ballot mailed in time.
And I don't fault Rellix for being passionate and participating in the electoral process at all. My biggest issue is his flat out statements about what is going to happen and how ignorant the American populace is after making comments like "i think i'll stab myself in the head".
He cast his vote, he lost, now he needs to learn to accept it and stop all the drama queen bullshit.
I doubt mommy will let him move to Canada anyway, but we can hope.

Interesting that you view every 18 year old American male as a horny parent-dependant fuckoff.
I've been following politics for much of my life, so kindly screw off.
I'm entitled to an opinion just as much as you are, and just because my representative has lost doesn't mean I'm not allowed to bitch and whine and I must lose my perspective.

18 years old. You are exactly the type we need voting.....you have held a job for what? year? year and a half? You obviously own your own home and have dealt with MANY MANY issues since you have been of voting age.
You are the reason that people like me lump you into the sterotypical category of liberals who are students/jobless/Canadian.

Honestly I can see the viability of not allowing people to vote until they're 25. At 18, you've got a lot to worry about and probably don't give two shits about who's running the country and making decisions for you..

To be honest I care a lot more about who's running this country than anything else at this point. Regardless of what's going on in my life I have just as much of a chance of dying from a terrorist attack as you do.Akaran_D wrote:Honestly I can see the viability of not allowing people to vote until they're 25. Edit: Interestingly enough, voters between the ages of 18-29 made up 17% of the vote (CNN), which means we're voting just as much as all the other age groups.

This liberal-minded canadian holds down a good job, supports a family, is on his way to buying a house and pays all his bills on time and is also working down student loan debts.
It's quotes like this by arrogant assholes like you that give all americans a bad name on the world stage.

Me? You are the one that lumped the majority of americans into the unwashed ignorant category.I want you Neost, to imagine if I said I was 26 years old, maybe even 30 - then you may realize what a sterotyping asshole you're being.
That's what really cranks me about this whole deal is you make accusations like that while doing the exact same fucking thing, but its ok when you do it. Anybody else gets called a "stereotyping asshole" if they disagree with you.
You sanctimonius, self-righteous twits think its fine to call names and make broad sweeping statements until someone does it to you then you cry "foul!".
If the situation were reversed and Kerry had won you would all be saying "stop your whining, its time to heal the division this election has caused, come over to our side, blah-fucking-blah".
I hope Michael Moore and his band of Slackers show up in 2008 to help out the democrats again. For anyone heading out of the country, be sure to pick up a copy of F/911. Whining liberals sicken me but I embrace them as part of the greatness that is the United States.
For the less whiny democrats, take this defeat in stride. The next 4 years were going to suck no matter who won. Take the time to reorganize and get a strong candidate prepared to go up against McCain/Giuliani in 2008.

I know you're not saying that the voting should be 25, but, didn't you just finishing saying in another thread, old enough to die for the country, old enough to drink? You could add, old enough to vote.Akaran_D wrote:Honestly I can see the viability of not allowing people to vote until they're 25. Seeing as you're such an intellectual, I would have expected you to go by the numbers instead of blindly following what random_CNNcommentator_03 says. But what do I know, I'm just an ignorant redneck. This was not the breakout year for young voters that some had anticipated.
Fewer than one in 10 voters Tuesday were 18 to 24, about the same proportion of the electorate as in 2000, exit polls indicated.
Freedom of speech makes it much easier to spot the idiots.

C'mon there sparky, address how calling the majority of americans ignorant and is different from my challenge of your 18 year old view of the world. Or are you going to continue to pick out pieces of the post that move attention away from your attempts to appear morally superior to half the country while you are a "sterotyping asshole"?Neost wrote:

I think you will have a problem here. The present strategy has worked too well. Just want to apologize for actually voicing my opinion. Here's an idea: why don't you guys try to ban me so it ends earlier?

I don't forsee McCain being a strong candidate anymore, I would have voted for him in 2000, but after seeing how much he bent over for Bush this year after how badly and lowclassedly (if thats a word ;p) Bush smeared him in the 2000 primaries, I don't think as many will find him an appealing candidate.Winnow wrote:I hope Michael Moore and his band of Slackers show up in 2008 to help out the democrats again.
