Look, Kirruu... we have gone over the ways in which you can block specific images ad nauseum over the last few days. Thanks for the review. Nice to see that in your ~20 posts, you were paying close attention. Also nice to see that with your 20 posts, you think your opinion should matter. I'm sure you've been lurking for eons, so no worries there either.

How to block/disable images is not what is at issue. What you can say in a flame is not at issue. What a person does or doesn't do at their place of employment is not at issue here. Whether or not you feel opressed is not at issue here. Censorship is not the issue here. We have a forum for posting whatever the fuck you want. Feel free to make use of it. What is at issue is consideration for other posters. I don't like the vast majority of you. I can't fucking stand several people here, but I'll be damned if I'll stand by and allow this environment to change into one where they can't post (I'm not saying they're specifically the ones raising the issue, just saying that I wouldn't want anyone to not be able to post here, and that includes everyone).

Well, Master with 5k posts, hate to say you're wrong in this case but... the only reason why I came to VV few weeks ago was because I was looking for an item that I couldn't get ahold of for a while. I have never lurked on VV (guess the amount of posts you have doesn't make you omnipotent afterall). I've glanced at VV once before, got completly turned off by the amount of flames and stupid empty hate posts, never came back. And after my very first post, I knew why. It wasn't 30 seconds between me posting something and someone called me a jackass (simply because I didn't get my signature to work right in the first place).

I have been a contributing member of Veeshan server for years now. It's been my home for a long time, and yes, I do care what's going on.. but I've been quite informed and happy without VV and all this flame and insults. I'm actually regretting I let myself to get sucked in this thread, but I really do disapprove of censorship of any kind on contents directed at adults. That was really the only point I wanted to make.

So feel free to call me an idiot few more times, insult me some more (yes, I know, I should have farmed about 1000 more posts before posting anything with an opinion), but don't put too much effort into it because I'm leaving VV forums so your work won't be as much appreciated.

Well, according to my speculations on what I've seen on today's posts, next post should look something like "Quote Kirruu" Good riddance!

I have been a contributing member of Veeshan server for years now. It's been my home for a long time, and yes, I do care what's going on.. but I've been quite informed and happy without VV and all this flame and insults. It's not about censorship. It's about consideration for the other people that post here. Out of consideration, the moderators are moderating to ensure that people can use this board.

About the goings on: A static image may not be enough to get the attention of those office nuns but the animation may be just enough to capture their attention as they walk by. Regardless, we are a community and have a lot of people from all walks of life.

I haven't read every novel posted in this thread so I don't know if this has been brought up or not. The main stink about all of this is about those viewing from work. That is just one place of possible problem. What about those who have kids. Or those who have wives and girlfriends.

Now I know that there are a lot of you jumping up to say this and that about how the kids should be under control and all that bullshit but that isn't always the case. Kid does not just mean those under 10. Also, kids are not always able to be controlled. Am I right parents?

Wives and girlfriends for the most part I am guessing are cool and don't give a shit but there are always those few who tend to freak. My wife doesn't care because she hates EQ and has no interest in the boards. (don't tell her about my NWS posts) I guess even husbands and boyfriends could be freaks as well.

I am sure that there are other reasons and I am just as sure there are as many arguments to counter those reasons. I guess it all comes down to whether or not you are truly hurt by not seeing Cid's avatar in her slut pose?

to find the solution to this issue, i think you have to try to come up with a compromise, so that both sides walks away feeling like they got the better part of the deal

yea i know that seems hard, especially in an online forum with people who love to flame

you have one extreme (party 1)

the people at work that can't view anything NWS
when i worked at a big company it was deemed inappropriate and unprofessional to have even a girl in a bikini on your computer desktop etc

and then the other (party 2)

full out porno everywhere we dont care yay boobies

how can we fix it temporarily so that both sides are happy until a better more permanant solution(turning off avatars/sigs) is available

well seeing as it would be unfair to party 1 to allow nws avatars to remain at the time being, we would have to stop their use on the non-nws forums until the permanant solution is implemented, the promised permanant solution should appease party 2 but maybe not enough to make them feel like they have walked away ahead so we may need some other bargaining chip thrown in for their side (5k vvs to keep your booby sig off til permanant solution!) that is just an example ok, so now that party 1 and party 2 both feel like they have walked away winning there is resolution and they can still both continue viewing the forums at their own descretion, be it from work or from their computer chair naked at home

All flames aside, when did the core of our community here become such a pack of flapping vaginas? A lot of you posted from work during the IGN era when you knew damn well it could get you in trouble with your employers. The entire reason we founded this place was to allow people to say and do whatever the fuck we want, whenever the fuck we want, and however the fuck we want. The fact that some of you want things adjusted so that you can break your workplace's rules more discretely, is just pathetic. You basically lack the discipline to follow your employers rules and lack the balls to accept the consequences of getting caught fucking around on the job.

Anyone of you who's job would be endangered by one of those avatars (for which, really, only flat out nudity should be restricted) are obviously surfing so brazenly at work that anyone can see what you are doing. The avatars are visually small and inoccously named and through the magic of CLOSING THE BROWSER WINDOW YOU LAZY INATTENTIVE PIECE OF MONKEY SHIT whenever someone else approaches or you turn away from your workstation, you can break company policy with impunity. Chances are if something like Cids avatar is used to fire your ass, your company was just looking for an excuse to can your ass for something else, anyhow and if you have any degree of awareness of your local office politics, you would have known better than to surf from work at all. If you truely cannot get through a day without the stupid day to day penis jousting of this board, then you should damn well disable the avatars on your fucking browser or install Opera. Punishing the rest of ufor your apathetic work ethic really pisses people off.

As for the annoyance factor, I can say when Fesuni had the naked man ass in chaps avatar, I was fairly annoyed, since contrary to rumor I am not about teh cack. There are several other avatars that got on my nerves too, but I managed to survive through the miracle of tolerance and POINTING MY EYEBALLS IN ANOTHER FUCKING DIRECTION, which I am sure most of you can manage to do. Fact is, I have been far more offended by several people's behavior, stupidity, and opinions than I could ever be by a fucking avatar, but with the exception of Devereaux, no one has ever been banned for having those. Whole Devereaux thing was my fault, but got resolved.

No one has been banned for avatars.
We *asked* that people tone down avatars (and they did!)
We disabled offsite linking to avatars (for now) because of hugis file sizes.

If anyone actually read all of the admin's responses in this thread - we all quoted or acknowledged ideas (not rants) about solutions. Just like we didn't want to ban Searyx, we implemented STFU instead. Give us time and we will put in the ability to turn off avatars and signatures for those who are in restrictive workplaces. Give us more time, and hopefully we'll be able to turn off avatars/sigs per user just like STFU.

Problems with the server, plus existing plans for upgrading/retrofitting were going on before this, so it's low priority at the moment. Always remember, things in the site development board getting taken seriously and addressed.....just not in the most timely of manners always.

That would be true if it had simply been bitching about the NWS content of the avatars, but people were bringing up the sizes and being flagged by SMS or other workplace watchdog apps. The fact is, if you dump your fucking cache regularly and never let anyone ever look at your screen, the only way to get nailed for surfing this site is because they logged your browsing (which many places can and will do). In that case, it wouldn't matter if you had JPGs of the pope or of Fesuni taking it in the ass from a donkey in live 3D, they are simply going to see that you hit this site for an average of 50% of your work day or more and can your ass for that.

Simple fact is, if you fuck around at work, grow some balls and accept a measure of responsibility of the possible outcome. If your office is so anal that you will get the axe for a postage stamp sized picture of a chick in a bikini, then have the fucking sense not to surf from there. The fact that the word fuck is used 100 times a day here has not detered anyone from browsing at work, its just some thin skinned pussy with virtually no posts decides they don't want to see it and "teh fnord" all get clenched assholes over it. Profanity will be the next thing bitched about, mark my filthy fucking words on that one.

Edit: Its not so much the actual act of avatar restriction that annoys me, as much as everyone playing the pussy angle in the issue. A lot of the people who jumped up in favor of this had a fairly good run of questionable avatars themselves. It would have been better for Xoo just to simple post a sticky saying "Because some people are pussies, we are disabling certain avatars until I find time between my scamming pussy and drinking to implement a fix. So let it be written, so let it be done." and been done with it instead of four pages of people humming America the Beautiful while telling us its our duty to make fucking around on the job for them less risky.

Jice, in my last job (I work from home now), my desk faced away from the door. People walk by all the time, so it didn't make sense for me to close my browser anytime someone "approached." I only "fucked off at work" when there was no work to be done, so I would never get in trouble for surfing the net, provided it did not involve offensive images. It was common for us NOT to have work.

I don't think I read a single post by Cid the entire time I was there because I had to quickly scroll down everytime I saw his avatar. Same for any others of an offensive nature, although they didn't seem to be so bad till recently. Last thing I wanted was for a coworker (or worse, boss) to come into my office and see that shit on my monitor.

Why people have to get so emotional over their porn, I don't know. Big fucking deal, it's an avatar. Respect the other people on this board who have jobs who don't allow that kind of thing.

How bout know your subject matter before advocating it? The very fact that you used the word reason to justify your blatant abuse of work time is fucking offensive and pathetic. I know it might be hard for you to follow me here but try. According to your "logic", the majority of criminals use roads therefore we should ban roads. For the record:

1. I'm allowed to browse at work. I work at a call center. When there's no calls, there's no work. Web browsing is lightly moderated. My boss has seen VV and honestly doesn't care too much. He asked that I refrain from threads where the avatars from Kwon and Siji were posted, in case IT decided to check weblogs.

2. I am against the restriction of off-site Avatar linking. I've stated so in the appropriate forums to the Admins themselves.

3. I do, however, agree that making this board available to people who choose to browse from work is in the best interest of the board and community as a whole, even if it comes at the restriction of Avatar size/content.

I'd rather have a large group of diverse and outspoken people posting here than 3 jackholes with avatars from Buttloving Biker Bitches.
