I'd choose the electric chair and hope that my head burst into flames because of a mistake made by the executioners. The last thing you can do is ruin the lives of those witnessing the event so you need the most dramatic horrifying death to do that. Plus, if I did something worthy of the death penalty, I wouldn't deserve to die semi peacefully.

So a chance at exoneration is worth spending the rest of your life in prison, so strike #3 from the list. Death IS worse than imprisonment. Let's face it.Kelshara wrote:Now he wont get those 15 years back, but at least he is alive.

no. in most states with the death penalty you are automatically given up to 2 appeals whether you want them or not. the state also automatically allocates exponentially more funds to your public defender if you don't have your own attorney. millions of dollars are spent on the appeal process in capital punishment cases.Deward wrote:People who get the death penalty do get a lot of appeals but so does everyone else.
For those opposed to the death penalty, favoring life in prison with no hope of ever getting out, what is your position on the other inmates who are murdered by these people inside the prison? It's been said, someone with no hope of ever getting out has nothing to lose. Do we say "Stop killing people, dammit! We really REALLY mean it this time! You get another life sentence! That'll learn ya!"
What do you say to the families of the guards who are murdered by these guys inside the prison?
What do you say to the female guards raped by these guys who have nothing to lose?
Aside from being raped and murdered, they get the honor of having feces slung at them. They have the privelege of being pissed on.
How would you respond to those who would say that just putting murderers out of YOUR sight doesn't take care of the problem, especially in a case with several eyewitnesses or overwhelming evidence?
As for rehabilitation, can we get a show of hands on how many think that Bundy, Dahmer or Muhammad were candidates for rehabilitation?

not that penal conduct has anything to do with capital punishment to anyone other than a ranting shithead like yourself, there are avenues with which to punish prisoners who misbehave that are pretty effective. most prisoners are reasonably well behaved, but there will always be instances when you have that many anti social people.
saying that you support capital punishment because the prisoner might kill or rape a guard because "they have nothing to lose" is fucking stupid beyond what I thought even you were capable of. maybe you should go away for six months again.

With DNA evidence becoming more and more abundant, there is not going to be as much of a chance at falsely convicting someone. If they want to keep putting them in jail, they can make them find a way to feed and clothe themselves, as the taxpayers should not have to pay for it. They make the choice to be a usefull citizen or a criminal. We did not stick a gun in their hands and tell them their job was to rob a liquor store or kill someone so they could take their money to buy more crack.
Either start some Escape from New York style place where you can drop these fucks, or kill them to keep them out of society.

For the innocent people who could possibly get out of jail, yes death is worse. For the guilty who will never have a chance of getting out, hell no death is an escape. There have been quite a few cases where the person asks for the death penalty and refuses to apeal because they would rather not sit that time in jail.So a chance at exoneration is worth spending the rest of your life in prison, so strike #3 from the list. Of course, capital punishment is more of a punishment towards the person's family than towards the person itself.
