Damn Truant I can read, you seem to be unable to get the subfuckingtext of anything however.

Kyoukan could give a fuck less, she just wants to argue, if someone posted about how great the RIAA was protecting artists she would argue that they protect companies not artists. She will argue for or against anything depending on which way she feels at that moment or who is involved regardless of her personal beliefs or actions. Kyoukan is a troll, merely a troll.

And you would argue with anything Kyoukan says, regardless of what she said.

So that makes you a Kyoukan-troll.

I haven't been to a drive-in in ages but I'm pretty sure they use a radio frequency now. No more walkie-talkie on the window.

I'm kind of pissed that they all closed shop. If anything, it would be something different to do.

As far as mp3's go, record stores could make a killing. If people are really walking around w/ mp3 players all over the place they should just set up an option to buy the single at a demo booth or something. You like the demo, you plug your unit in and dl the full version, swipe you MAC card, and be gone. Bring the whole "impulse purchase" to music again.

Yes, all sound now comes through your car stereo, which is awsome. Coldwater, MI has a very nice drive-in theater that plays 2 movies on 2 screens. They start at dusk and always play 2 movies per night. It costs $12 per car load, and that gets you 2 movies per screen. It's a great time. Definately a nice change from indoors and brings back a lot of good memories from my childhood.

My ass was once fat, now it is not. I can improve myself, how about some of the other VV'ers doing the same?

But seriously, the RIAA is gonna sue, Once broadband becomes more prevalent or someone cooks up a decent audio/video compression codec that lets people drop standard movies at decent resolution to under 500 megs then it will be the next big issue.

Oh yeah, you know that subpoena list the RIAA is using, you can bet there is some clerk at a company provided for by the Movie companies who has one job, collecting names and data of people pirating movies for THEIR first wave of attacks.

For those seeking a clue, Pirating on one hand, then calling others out for doing it regardless of how they said it, is hypocrisy.

Kyoukan never said she was against piracy, she just flamed people that try to justify the act of stealing as anything other than being a thief. We probably need to make the kyoukan piracy topic a sticky. I get tired of explaining this every week.

I never said the RIAA dealt with movies, try reading comprehension 101. Eat a dick, little starfish.

Nostalgia may substitute for surround sound in your tiny world, but it doesn't for me. I would rather go a comfy theatre with true surround sound, have snacks that I don't have to clean up afterwards, and enjoy air conditioning without keeping my car idling for 3 hours.

Gee, it sounds like I know exactly what I'm talking about. Unless you're an NBA supastar with a Lincoln Navigator so tricked out it actually HAS 7.1 audio, in which case, not only will I retract my statement, I will eat my own ass.

Movie theatre sound has fallen quite behind compared to what you can set up in a home system. The quailty of the speakers, plus the sheer volume of air that is required to be pushed to fill that room tends to lead to a pretty sub par sound compared to some of home setups.

hypocrite

\Hyp"o*crite\, n. [F., fr. L. hypocrita, Gr. ? one who plays a part on the stage, a dissembler, feigner. See Hypocrisy.] One who plays a part; especially, one who, for the purpose of winning approbation of favor, puts on a fair outside seeming; one who feigns to be other and better than he is; a false pretender to virtue or piety; one who simulates virtue or piety.

The hypocrite's hope shall perish. --Job viii. 13.

I dare swear he is no hypocrite, but prays from his heart. --Shak.

Syn: Deceiver; pretender; cheat. See Dissembler.

hypocrite

n : a person who professes beliefs and opinions that they do not hold [syn: dissembler, phony, phoney]

Source: WordNet ® 1.6, © 1997 Princeton University

hypocrite

one who puts on a mask and feigns himself to be what he is not; a dissembler in
religion. Our Lord severely rebuked the scribes and Pharisees for their
hypocrisy (Matt. 6:2, 5, 16). "The hypocrite's hope shall perish" (Job 8:13).
The Hebrew word here rendered "hypocrite" rather means the "godless" or
"profane," as it is rendered in Jer. 23:11, i.e., polluted with crimes.

I don't see how your interpretation of a hypocrite falls into one of the above

Masteen, you have not been to a drive-in in a long fucking time by your own admission. Your stupid comparisons mean nothing because you're basing your entire argument on guess work. I, on the other hand, was at a drive-in movie 2 weeks ago and can assure you that the sound, picture quality, and atmosphere is far superior to an indoor theater. Just the fact that you insist that you are right, when you are obviously completely misinformed and ignorant of modern drive-ins, is making you look like a fool. I suggest you learn what you're talking about before you start forming an opinion.

yeah 95 degree heat and eating mosquitos, not being able to hear shit, etc.

anyways, i imagine in the north they may have modern drive-ins because in the summer it can be more mild. In the South, they pretty much stopped building them in the 60s i think.

i went to one in Jacksonville, FL a couple of years ago, don't think i'll repeat that fun :p

So I take it they have a giant fucking climate controlled dome so you don't have to run your car's AC?

I might believe that the drive-in is using the new HD FM, but even that does not contain surround information. So no matter what kind of Uber system you've stuck in your vehicle, it's not surround. If the movie sounds coming from your car stereo are better than what you get in a theatre, then your theatres suck, PERIOD.

Fair, I'm not arguing against your right to enjoy going there.

However, it's fucking pure stupidity on YOUR part to argue that an OUTDOOR venue that broadcasts the movie sound over the radio into whatever setup you have in your car will give superior sound and picture vs. an indoor, climate controlled, stadium seating, true Dolby 7.1 system theatre.

I owned them and shared them in a responsible manner like that of cassette making, I considered Napster once briefly but the fact that trying to upload my list crashed everything and that when I examined it sharing nothing I found it to be mostly junk.

I do not thief music, even when my FTP server was going all out, if I did not own it, I did a few listens, then bought if I liked, and trashed if I did not.

The concept still applies when one crook gets on another for their justifications it is bloody well stupid.

I do not thief music, even when my FTP server was going all out, if I did not own it, I did a few listens, then bought if I liked, and trashed if I did not.

The concept still applies when one crook gets on another for their justifications it is bloody well stupid.
wait a minute...

i read the linked thread. what i'm reading is that you bought cd's, ripped songs off of them, then gave them away to friends. (please correct me if i'm reading this wrong.)

how on earth is that not stealing music? other than in this case you weren't the downloader, you were the downloadee?

and what exactly does "shared in a responsible manner" mean?

i'm not attempting to address your flame war with kyou, i know you're arguing with her about justifying your actions, that's another issue entirely. but i seriously don't understand your rationale here in saying that distributing ripped songs "isn't stealing." please relp. ><

Just because you think you shared your mp3's in a responsible manner does not make it legal.

You are now a criminal, a hypocrite, a liar, and by third definition, a whore.

Shall we continue? :)

Indeed it does...watching you justify your being a crook is making me laugh to great degrees after seeing you slam others for doing the very same thing.

I particularly liked the part where he said (paraphrased for viewing pleasure):
I tried to use Napster but I was too stupid to get it working so I didn't.
Glad he's not configuring 802.1x authentication servers!
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

Just to clarify for you folks - no i'm not bashing

DD-EX is a 6.1 sound standard, not 7.1. Same goes with DTS-ES. 7.1 that you hear bantering around is just the rear channel being mirrored on a second rear speaker. Though having a 7.1 speaker setup is far more superior than the 6.1 (dual rears instead of single) because with a 6.1 setup you tend to get a lot of collapsing of the rear sound stage.

mmmmm dst-es mmmmm

Interesting paraphrase, it was actually a flaw with Napster itself and limits on list size.
