The Lakers were outplayed in every game of the series. Excellent defense, excellent job.

I feel truly sorry for Karl Malone.

I kept expecting the real Lakers to show up.

Hat's off to the Pistons. They wanted it more and outplayed and outhustled the Lakers every step.

I'm so happy that we won it all.

I kind of hate how everyone is like "this is one of the biggest upsets ever!!!" Apparently the analysts and sportswriters were just wrong, and favored the wrong team. Besides Kobe hitting a deep 3 with 2 seconds left, there was no period in the entire series that Detroit wasn't in control.

I've heard people say that Pistons' ball is boring to watch, I hope this series has changed your mind. There's something to be said for playing as a team, hustling 100% of the time and playing smart basketball.

Detroit is occassionally fun to watch but overall boring to me. I can honestly say I did not actually sit down to watch any of the games, I always did other things because I got bored watching them.

That said, is Malone greedy for loosing a lot of money to try for a championship? Debateable I suppose.

He stayed with the Utah Jazz his entire career when he could have gotten more money and better location at any number of teams. So in the last year(s) of his extensive career, he takes the veteran minimum to do something for himself? If anything Stockton retiring paved the way for Malone to do his own thing. He stayed as long as John was there. When John retired, Karl was free to go on his own.

Pull your head out of your ass. Saying Malone is greedy is right up there with some of the other stupidest things you've said.

If anything, it probably helped Utah to be able to begin their rebuilding now without having to focus the team around Malone who is very obviously (though good) not what he once was.

I was just really happy to see the Lakers implode on the weight of their collective egos. I feel a bit bad that Malone didn't get a ring, but I don't feel the least bit bad for Payton. Shaq can also eat a fat dick. Learn to shoot free throws, you fucking retarded baby.

I'm not a Pistons fan and was a Piston hater in the late 80's early 90's but I'm impressed with what Larry Brown has done. Hopefully that team can stay together next year.

As for the Lakers, if Kobe can pull off an OJ, he'll be a Sun next year. (My predicition. Laugh if you wish). I almost feel sorry for Shaq. It's hard to feel sorry for someone like that but he does come to play every night and his team looks like it's going to be a heaping pile of shit next year. They need lots of help and will probably lose Kobe.

I'm not so sure that Kobe needs an OJ. Not a HUGE Kobe fan and consider what he did wrong, but the case stinks.. Will be VERY interesting to see what the text messages the girl sent right after the incident say.

I think Pistons might be very exciting to see live if you are a Pistons fan. Their play style can get people excited, but it doesn't transfer as well to TV as a more "showtime" team does.

Anybody willing to make a bet on starting lineup for Lakers next year? Here is mine:

Guard - Fisher
Guard - Rush
Forward - George
Forward - Walton
Center - Shaq

maybe i used the wrong word...he's greedy for not retiring like he should have...he's a utah jazz and if he was going to get a ring it would have happened with the utah jazz. until this season the man spent his entire career with the utah jazz. joining the lakers to get a ring, that's greedy to me.

Layup after layup, dunk after dunk, fast break after fast break. the Pistons pushed the tempo all series. If anything, it was the Lakers that tried to slow down the game not the pistons.

Why should a player who is number two on the all time scoring list, and has the ability to defend BOTH Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett AKA 'The MVPs for the last two years' retire?

How is it disloyal to give a team the best years of your career, to stay through thick and thin, to lead them to two NBA finals, to make your teammate the all-time leader in assists, and then... when your game starts to slip, and you're unable to contribute what you once were, to go to a team with a legitimate shot to win a championship?

He gave the Jazz the best of Karl Malone... Unfortunately for him, and for the Jazz, his best came at a time when Michael Jordan was also at his best...

Sad to say, but Malone is still a damn good defender while his knee holds up, and his passing game on offense is deadly. And btw Tuncan and Garnett would make MVPs for the last 3 years not 2!

I feel sorry for the Lakers next year because the dismantling they got in these finals. I doubt you'll see many teams doubling or tripling Shaq anymore, because it has been proven theat their roleplayers are pretty much useless. They will let Shaq have his and make the other Lakers beat them. It could potentially be a long season for them but Shaq would lead the league in scoring and be close to the top in rebounding.

If he doesn't retire, you were wrong, but not an idiot. Retirement is a very reasonable possibility. The only thing I think it questionable is him going to another team. I think it's either Lakers with Kobe and Shaq and probably some new players, or retirement... I just don't see him going somewhere else.

He is too proud to be a bench player. If his knee isn't 100% he will retire for sure. Not because of not winning this year or being greedy, but because of his own pride in his game. He has a fire for the game that a lot of other players could learn from.

And Duncan rules! But then again I am biased, I am a Spurs fan and lived there long enough to see what both Duncan and David Robinson did for the community. Once again, a lot of athletes could learn from them.

On the subject of Malone... I really don't understand why people don't like him. He's such a nice person, and such a good character guy (based on every interview with him I've ever seen) and he's always man enough to face the reporters if things are going well or going bad. He's a pretty honorable guy in my opinion. I hated him as a competitor when he'd play against the Bulls or the Lakers, but I always respected himand like many LA fans, I was so glad to see him come here.

As far as Duncan goes, he's another great guy and probably one of the most quality players in the NBA on and off the court. Unfortunately, his style of play just bores the hell out of me.

I don't know, I found watching the team which hustled their asses off each and every play to be a shitload more exciting than the typical NBA experience of post-up dumps and isolations.

What I really enjoyed about the game is that the Lakers gave up about 10 seconds into the 3rd quarter and allowed the Pistons fans to celebrate a championship for an entire half of basketball. Ben was fucking flying all over the place grabbing rebounds.

That was a 30 point blowout disguised as a 13 point win. I actually think I enjoyed watching Phil get a dick rammed up his ass more than any one Laker (except maybe Payton)

To me, it wasn't an upset, Detroit was just that much better all-around and as a whole than the Lakers were. People just overestimated the Lakers and underestimated the Pistons.

Everyone from Las Vegas Sport books to EPSN analysts had the Lakers heavily favorite so when you say it wasn't that big of an upset I disagree.

The best team this year IMO was the Spurs and the Lakers took care of them in 6.

It was a meltdown of epic proportion...not taking anything away from Detroit, they earned it.

IMO, it wouldn't have mattered whether it was the Laker nor the Spurs, the Pistons were playing better than any other team when it counted the most. In the finals.

Spurs would have fell in four, at least the lakers had the heart/luck to win one game.
