So it comes to pass, we can transplant faces, what do you all think about it?

Well now Kyoukan can become the black woman she always wanted to be. Although I am sure the cadaver would object to having any part of it grafted onto a shit head.
Cadaver to Kyoukan: Hey what the hell is my $10.00 face doing on that worthless head.
Interesting story though could cause problems for the living relatives of the donor.

You know, I guess I should voice how I feel on the issue. I am surprisingly neutral because I rarely value someone by their face unless they make it apparant that they expect to be valued in that manner. I cannot see it being a big issue for the religious groups, nor for political groups, of course I wonder how long before people start having "acceptable faces" grafted on to win elections, hell Gore might have won if his VP choice looked more like anyone other than his VP choice, a lot of people vote almost entirely based on looks.
What about average looking people choosing to look like Nicole Kidman? Brad Pitt etc, will there be auctions of faces online?
It is a really interesting time to live.

Keep in mind, all they're doing is taking the skin tissue and muscular structure. They're not doing what would be considered a full face transplant, which would include removing the entire front section of the skull, to match the actual makeup of the face itself... then you'd have to match that with the appropiate sections of the recievers' skull that would also have to b cut off, ect.
You could graft, say Paula Abdule's face onto Bill CLinton using this tech, and it wouldn't look like her. I'm willing to bet that the only way it'd be an exact dup is if done on identical twins - and even then, any errors caused during the procedure would cause a different "face" at the end result.

I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

Well they could shave, build, alter, etc bone structure to make you look more like the original face and I am sure in terms of cosmetic work they WOULD do so.

Major problem with doing that is that you run the risk of damaging or modifying the sinus passages, and that can lead to hgiher rates of infection, I beleive.
Not to mention sinus pain durring pressure changes (air, that is).

Hrm, cool data. So the nasal area is not very prone to alteration at our current level of technology ( LOL someone should have told Michael Jackson that)
But I am assuming and correct me if I am wrong, chin, cheek, eye socket etc could all be altered, so Charles Manson might not be able to be Brad Pitt, but Charlie Sheen could be Martin Sheen.

I'd think it's safe to say that's a good possibility.
I'm not 100% sure on the modifcation of the sinuses. I could be way off base. But I think I'm accurate.

You could get away with some minor modification to the bones, but major modification isn't really possible on the face. Muscular origins/insertions and innervation are quite tricky not to mention potential for damage to the cranial nerves...So while a you could shave a bit here and there you could not make radical alterations in the basic structure without very high risk
