Akaran of Mistmoore, formerly Akaran of Veeshan I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.
Saw this tonight....damn. While it is certainly not the end-all-be-all of suspense thrillers, it is still worth the watch. I have always been a fan of the 'small set', ala The Cube...sorta. I will not reveal any spoilers, so I will keep this short...
I will indeed go to see this on the big screen later this month!
Not bad...lots of hype and a decent product for the genre. Parts of the film tear you a new one, yet other parts feel drab. It is certainly likeable, despite its flaws. Check it out and see for yourself.
Went and saw this tonight with my girlfriend. It was pretty good, some sub par acting by a few in the cast, but I would give it about an 8 overall. It's kind of a cross between seven, silence of the lambs, and Cube.
I saw (huhhuh) The Cube in this as well. I think it was due to the use of flourescent lighting and small sets.... either way, it seemed to work pretty well in its favor. Danny Glover plum sucked in it IMO, but the character was not actually that important.
And yeah, it certainly had that creepy Seven feel, but did not have the suspense...then again, as an audience, we are much more attuned to gore these days in modern suspense film(although gore was actually much less than I expected from the preview).
Went to see it last night as well; I thought it was a great movie but yeah, the acting ( from Adam and Dr. Gordon mostly ) was kind of disappointing. Other than that, it was pretty sweet.
I thought it was also like seven in the sense that the "killer" (although he really didnt kill anyone.) was punishing people for things they did (or didn't ) do
I also thought of the cube when the people wake up and don't know where they are or how they got there.
I agree with the statement about the acting of adam and dr. gordon being sub - par, but I felt danny glover did a good job.
Yeah, Adam and the doctor were REALLY pissing me off. They were ruining a movie that I had such high hopes for. Some of the acting was just total crap.
When the world is mine, your death shall be quick and painless.
After thinking about it more, the scene where Adam "pretends" to die was absolutely pathetic. I'm not sure if the director wanted Adam's character to be a shitty "actor" in that sense, but when I first saw it happen I thought Adam was joking and trying to mock Dr. Gordon's plan to get them out. Then Dr. Gordon said he did what was asked =(
Still, despite the acting flaws, it ranks as one of the best horror movies I've seen in a good long while. The rest of the movie more than made up for those two actors.
probably the best horror/suspense film since "seven". Id agree that the acting wasnt up to par, but considering that it was shot entirely in 18 days (pre-prod in 5, the bathroom scene in 6) and they chose not to rehearse before shooting, I couldnt expect much more.
/agree if I understand what you mean. It was boring. Here you're thinking from the previews that there's going to be various people locked up with a saw being the only way to get out.. the whole movie is about as exciting as All My Children. The ending was the best part, but read one of the spoilers above to get it and save the $4.99 from Blockbuster. No idea how people find this to be one of the best horror movies they've seen. There was no horror. There was no suspense. There were no 'scary moments'.
You understand me on this Siji, it was gratituous death shots, poor monologues, no solid character development, bloody hell, this was like a Porno Horror flick.
