I've been to amsterdam.. and people in amsterdam are very unusual. Some ethnic groups try and start fights with you. They try and frustrate you enough so that you'll hit them. They don't say normal stuff that you may hear to boil the blood. Like "yo pussy." Their best and most used phrases include something like "your mother has cancer." But, other then that it's a grand time. I'd advise spend some time in one of their many clubs if you're looking for some enjoyment and partake in their local customs.

Hrm, what makes you say that? Compared to who, Sweden? lolerskatesIsn't it sad that I knew that would come as an example?... Denmark is such a sad little country, and we have NOTHING to offer. LOL
IT'S HARD TO PUT YOUR FINGER ON IT; SOMETHING IS WRONG

I would suggest going to Amsterdam
Yeah, Het Rijksmuseum is leuk, but fuck that the Red Light District, the "Coffee Houses" et all beats that shit out.
Paris is nice, but god knows you can't see anything meaningful on a whirlwind tour, you wouldn't even have time to visit the Arc de Triomphe, Invalides, Musee de l'Armee, Eiffel Tower, Sacre Couer, Moulin Rouge, Notre Dame, Concorde, Pompidou Center, Picasso Museum, etc in any reasonable time.
Rome, Florence, Sienna, and all of Tuscany are worth a visit, but you probably can't do any of that in such a short time.
Venice is great, but it is getting to the "smelly" season there, so you should probably avoid it.
I love Seville, Barcelona, and Toledo (Salamanca). Again, you would need to focus on that and stick to probably Seville, Barcelona, Gibraltor, and La Costa del Sol to see anything there.
Lisbon in Portugal is fan'fucking'tastically gorgeous, but far removed from.... everywhere else!
Brussels would be a good place to pop down to from the northern countries, if you already plan hitting Denmark.
The Ardennes are cool if you want to do a bit of hiking.
London is "uber alles", but you need someone who knows it and you need some serious time. The City Tour buses are ok if you are being a cheesy tourist but it would still take several days to do.
Edinburgh is lovely, the castle and the parks below it are nice, while the pubs in the area are a great place to chill in the summer. They also have some nice city bus tours in the summer months, but it is a couple of days at least to cover the major sites.
Dublin is a nice place to go out in the evening, and if you can get in to the Trinity to see the Book of Kells, that is a fantastic museum spot. There are enough castles, pubs, and museums for at least a full trip.
I like Koln(Cologne), but I can't remember much about the area, or Munich for that matter (which I also like).
Switzerland was a bit boring for me, but damned beautiful and sweet for outdoors activities (not like New Zealand sweet, but certainly scenic).
In any case, have fun and try not to see too much. You will miss out on seeing anything but a car/train/plane if you do!

Switzerland is beautifull
Tons of nice landscapes !
Around the Geneva Lake (Leman lake is right name thought !) there are beautifull sights. If you have time, try to make a trip in the mountain but if 3 or 5 days....maybe you want to visit some city.
If you go to Basel (which is near german and french border so you might stop there) there is actually an egyptian art exposition at the museum (sp?). First time this collection "toutankhamon's gold" leaves egypt so might worth a look.
Appart from that...well almost every city has an old center who is nice to see
Dont forget if you go to switzerland that we are not using euro as money. Euro are probably accepted in the shop of cities near border but you may want to change some money before coming.
Cant really think to more place, i guess there are too much of them
Outside switzerland:
- Dublin is a really nice city...tons of pubs, historical spot, guiness brewery...and the conemara's aera has really nice landscapes.
- Brussel: Really nice city too, but if you go to belgium try to go to a city which french s name is "bruge". It is a really nice city.
- Of course there is Paris...lots of beautifull things to see but i dont really like going there (no good reasons for non liking it though, just a feeling)
- London is very interesting city, as are barcelona, roma, berlin, amsterdam. Too much to say bur each of them has something special !
Edit: Added the outside switzerland

Sacre Coeur, Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Picasso Museum, Napoleon's Tomb, a walk from Arc de Triomphe to Concorde along the Champs Elysee, and a tour of the Louvre are the basic things to do.CobsTheWarlord wrote:im here in paris atm. using comp at the hostel im staying out. really fun place went to the red light district last nite got drunk and went to something basically same as moulin rouge. moulin rouge was full so they directed me to another place thats similiar.

I also like the walk from the Louvre to Hotel de Ville (City Hall).
There is a nice little park (Parc Monceau) that is nice to have a picnic lunch in that is only a short walk from Arc de Triomphe. I used to rollerblade over to it and eat lunch in the summers.
Hope you enjoy the city!

Seriusly tho if you in Paris now a one day rather cheep trip might be the Normandy beaches. If you have any interest in ww2 and D-Day its the place to se it sure was a strong experience for me at lest.
Else as mentioned many things to se in Paris and if you whant action just tell them you from US and think Mc Donalds is the way to go .

heh, i love denmark and sweden, except for the fucking weatherDrolgin Steingrinder wrote:Hrm, what makes you say that? Compared to who, Sweden? lolerskatesIsn't it sad that I knew that would come as an example?... Denmark is such a sad little country, and we have NOTHING to offer. LOL
Denmark especially is the cleanest fucking place on earth. Copenhagen is like some city out of a fucking fairy tale book, taxi drivers drive brand new mercedes and you wont see a peice of trash on the street. Its freaky going up there though and seeing that 85% if everyone is blond and blue eyed with light skin. The garbage men have a masters degree and speak 8 different languages. To top it off Danish chicks are hot as hell and pretty wild,

In general though i would stay away from tours. When i went on family vacations we would go on lots of tours which i would always find meaningless, i prefer to experiance the culture first hand then to look a bigass rock and hear a story about it.
