The writers of this show are fucking geniuses. Masterfully placed after the Sopranos, there has never been better Sunday night programming. Hell, most nights the Sopranos is preceded by a full hour of The Simpson.

beautiful.

It really is one of the best written shows I've ever seen. Al Swearengen is such a bastard and absolutely one of my favorite characters of all time.

"I'd rather try and touch the moon than take on a whore's thinkin"

He had a really good one this week, when talking shit to Montana, but I can't remember what it was.

The last episode was fucking good. I'm giving it a fucking B+ only because fucking Calamity Jane wasn't fucking in it. Those cocksuckers are doing a great job showing me how they spoke and acted in the wild fucking west.

I just realized tonight while watching "A Man Apart" that Timothy Olyphant who plays Seth Bullock also played Hollywood Jack in the Vin Diesal movie! LOL

Yeah, the doctor is Brad Dourif...most recently of LotR fame, but also in a lot of David Lynch movies such as Dune and Blue Velvet.

The toy maker from Blade Runner's also in Deadwood...

I'm not even going to try to get into it, HBO's too big of a ripoff for the amount of time the wife and I watch it. As of next Monday, that $22.99 for HBO is going to be used for something else.

That boggles my mind. Each one of the HBO hour long dramas is at least 12 hours (call that 6 movies worth) of new, original material every year. So only watching two shows for a whole season throughout the year would cost you no more than you and your wife going to the movies once a month. And that's disregarding all of the movies and specials and things that they play... HBO is totally worth it, imo. I'd probably get rid of all of the rest of basic cable before HBO.

We watch Sopranos and Curb Your Enthusiasim. Sex and the City is over and the Sopranos will be as of next week.

What boggles my mind is someone thinking that everyone else actually watches HBO's programming even to the degree that you listed.

For about 20 hours of entertainment each year (soon to be only about eight), $276 is way too much. You watch it more than we do. End of story

Are you implying that Sopranos is over for good next week? It's just the season finale, there is a sixth and final season coming.

Damn, you pay a lot for HBO. DirecTV doesn't charge that much for the 5 or 6 HBO channels you get including HBO-HD.

Sopranos and Deadwood are top notch and the only series I watch on any channel.

HBO also usually has the best new premium channel movie releases and they look awesome in High definition.

I guess if you only watch for sopranos and deadwood, dropping the service until they start up again isn't a bad idea. I'd also look into why you're being charged so much for HBO.

They begin to film in 18 months from what I understand. And since they film quite a bit of their material about 5 minutes from me, I'll be sure to get the heads up on reinstating our service.

I watch on a RCA 25 in circa '90 TV w/wood-like panel siding (because when I think "high tech", I think "Wood Panel Siding") , Win. It's our only TV. Obviously, tube watching isn't our primary form of entertainment.

18 months? Is that a typo? I can't imagine them waiting a year and a half before starting production on the last 12 episodes.

It's not 18 months, they havent given an exact date yet but the filming for the sixth season starts in "early 2005". So I'm guessing 7-10 months.

haha, bullshit. The new season is supposed to air in 18 months. They are already working on the script, and have been all season. (think about it, they wrapped up shooting this season 7 months ago...) At the rate you are talking the show won't air until late 2006, and there is no fucking way HBO would allow people to wait 2 fucking years to see the new episodes. After digging around hbo.com, I learned that they are going to start filming next month and *should* have it ready in 18 months.

Sopranos stuff in the sopranos thread, plx.
This thread is for that cocksucker Al Swearengen. :)

Speaking of which, anyone else feel really sorry for him? I know his going to off the preacher.. but he actually feels like he's truly goign to regret doing so, like it tugs at his soul.

I didn't realize that Ricky Jay was a writer for the show. I knew that he acted on it but last night it said he was the writer of the episode too. If you've never seen his live comedy/magic show, check it out. He's amazing and very entertaining.

And God, Swearengen was funny last night. When he was getting that blow job I was laughing my ass off.

The finale was very good, I'm pretty pleased with how everything turned out and eagerly await the next season.
[Show]
Was anyone mad that Swearengen killed the preacher? If anything it seemed like merciful euthanasia to me. I'm also happy that he killed that magistrate, and Bullock kicking the shit out of Alma's dad was great too.

You had to know that Bullock was going to become the sheriff.

Wasn't mad, felt bad for Al that he had to do it, tbh with you.
I wonder if Alma still beleives in Bullock after seeing him on the balcony with Al, however..

I watched the NBA Finals instead of Deadwood so will be watching it Wednesday when it's back on the High Def HBO channel.

The good news is the Lakers lost so it was worth it.

Downloaded and watched this cocksucker series (horay no HBO!). Wow. Fucking brilliant. I can't believe that's Lovejoy playing Al! Only problem is that it's an HBO show so I'll probably have to wait until 2006 for season 2.

Well there's one thing we agree on. Deadwood is an awesome series. Anyone not offended by the word "fuck" should be renting this when it's released on DVD or checking it out on HBO if they replay the episodes sometime in the future.

The other word around the campfire is that it will start right after Carnivale. So for those counting, in about 13-15 weeks. Then after that will be a new series called 'Rome". No word on if it is another Band of Brothers type show or one with numerous seasons. Entourage will come back over the summer/fall. And after all of that, you guessed it, more Sopranos.
