this looks way too easy, it seems like there should be a lot more involved in getting an epic.

Most epics are fairly easy. The only thing that made them "hard" in the old days was the rarity of some drops and the spawns that everyone had to compete for.

the weapon is entirely too good for an epic. its amazingly better in stats and ratio than the other weapon epics.

I was running through Culdron the other day with my Bard going to the LDoN guy and that epic mob was up at the water. It quickly ate my level 49 ass in a hurry. Proced something that made my screen look like I was drunk then hit me with a stun much like wirl till you hurl, followed by a 1200 pt nuke and a few attacks for 400ish..I went down faster than a $20 crack whore.

i helped kill that fear mob last night. the ireblind imp. he hits for like 200 max but his ae is nasty. its about a 300 range AE mez. and his agro range is insane. we killed him with like 30 peeps and about 15 adds by the end. the easiest thing to do is put a small dot on yourself and "wake" your self up from the mezzes. personally i went into lich form and broke the ae every time. id say he has maybe 75k or so hp. a 9k HT didnt do a whole lot of damage to him

The fun thing about that Ireblind Imp is that his AE mez is also a memblur for mobs there. Was a real treat while helping some people on a CR the other night to run over to him and get mezzed for 15 seconds and lose all aggro after the 5th random see Shroud of Stealth mob came charging for me.

Had a long discussion about the Zerker epic in irc the other day. Actually, I don't think the weapon is "too good for an epic" - if it had comparable stats to the other epics, then noone would ever do it, it's not even a spectacularly unique look. In my opinion, the problem lies with the difficulty of the quest - far, far, FAR too easy to complete for the caliber of weapon that you get.

If they want to tune up a new "epic" quest in reward, then the difficulty of the quest should be scaled up as well and not be something that a group of semi-random 65s can do in an afternoon.

Teoa, our 55 Zerker in Kratos, has his Epic.

Believe it is second on Veeshan.

Also, don't forget that the difficulty shouldn't be based on what a group of semi-random 65s can do in an afternoon. Epics are meant to be Kunark era and obtainable by those people.

If that's the case then why do beastlords have to camp mobs in Fungus Grove that are clearly omre difficult than mobs of similar level that you would expect to find in Kunark?

The game evolves, as new classes are introduced, their epics should evolve with it.

If that were the case, then the weapon should be of that quality, not of PoP-level gear. Either or.

Disagree.

And if the bst epic does involve a mob in Fungus Grove, it sounds like a dev screwed up when they made that quest. All epics should be obtainable by people with the orignal EQ+Kunark. If you look at the BER epic you see all the steps are completed in Kunark and a few original world zones.

As far as the actual stats of the item, that's not really relevant to the quest itself. That's a different item for debate.

I'm pretty sure you need to have the Luclin Expansion to even make a bst anyway, don't you?

This part. I don't see the point of making 'new' epics kunark weapons if you need whatever expansion they belong to anyways. It's kind of like the rest of the crappy quests we used to do. Is there a BST / BER version of lambent armor?

Perhaps the point is the the power of creatures in GoD far outweighs that of mobs in Fungus Grove.. hell, mobs in Luclin.

The BST epic starts in Shar Vahl btw!
