Baldur's Gate 2

Post by Pahreyia »

Got this game months ago and I've finally gotten around to the point where I feel comfortable with the interface and game system... Now...

I've been playing a Ranger/Stalker and have kept with the storyline provided NPCs for my party. However, I'm finding myself second guessing my choices for my class. Basically, I'm playing this game for the first time because I want to see the storyline, not as much for any challenging encounters or to see if X class can be successful.

I'd like to get people's recommendations on classes that they particularly enjoyed playing through the game as. Also, which characters did you use in your party. I am definately going to be keeping Minsc and Jan Johnson because their exchanges are great. However, as far as Valkonia or Yoshimo or Aerie (however thier names are spelled >< )... Which did you particularly like, and what class was most enjoyable to you to play through the game with?

Personally I went as a cleric tank. I like clerics (obviously), and I wasnt very impressed with the npc clerics you could pick up in the game. And I went tank for several reasons- As a cleric I had enough hp to do it, it meant that I never had to worry about being tied to a particular npc having to always be in the party since he was the tank, and it left all the other npcs free to do what they do best without worrying so much about their armor or how good their missiles were. Just slap the boots of speed and uber armor on your 18 dex cleric and charge the critters. You'll get there first with your speed and draw most of the aggro since youre closest. While they flail away at your huge ac the rest of your group either showers them with missiles (which your cleric is useless at anyway, and so wouldnt be able to contribute well at if someone else was tanking), or or catches up and engages in melee with their more vulnerable ac's. Worked very well for me. As for npc's Imoen, Minsc and Dinaheir were common for me to fill out the basic skill sets needed, and I could experiment with the remaining spaces. My last run through I was experimenting with Aerie and the bard whose name I forget, but it was going fairly well. :)

*Hugs*

Well, I *FINALLY* got into this game. Lord that was hard to do. Anyways, I went with a paladin. It's not too bad. I've stuck with the same group of NPCs for the most part, tho I've swapped them all in some at one point for the storyline. My standard group is Minsc, Jaheira, Amenomenomenoen (was Viconia until I got too good and she told me to piss off), Aerie, Yoshimo/Imoen, and my paladin. I'd do it differently if I played again. Minsc is cool, Jaheira is ok, Aerie's stats are fucking pathetic. If I played again, it would be an evil themed party to try out some of the other NPCs for a significant amount of time. But then, I'd only play it again if I got and played through the first one.

Speaking of which, if anyone can hook me up with BG1 + its expansion, much <3.

I played as a sorceror. They're horribly overpowered if you chose the right spells. It's been 2 years though so I can't tell you what they are, but I had a blast playing regular and expansion as one.

Summon monsters own the lich fyi! That one took a while.

Throne of Baal roxxorz!

Pah Pah. When i played BG2, my main was a Monk! I found some real kickass Gauntlets in the Sahuagin City and really showed em teh Fists of Fury!

When i played i created a whole party of my own though.

Main was Monk and the crew was 1 Priest of Lathander as Cleric and 1 Invoker-Mage for Firepower.
Also used a Blade(Having some kind of Bard in the crew sounded fun!), an Assassin(The Thief) and a Kensai to fill the Warrior spot!

I sometimes swapped the Kensai with a Berserker for certain situations! And sometimes the Assassin had to stay home etc.

The classes that i always had in the party was the Main Char, the LathanderPriest and the Invoker. The Blade, Assassin,Kensai and BerZerker changed spots every now and then depending on the situation.

Never used Paladins, Rangers, Druids or Sorcerers so cant comment on those.

I also liked the music OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS! Some tracks are actually good workout-music and some are good to rest to! :D
-

Most fun fights that i remember was Kangaxx Teh Lich and the Dragons!

Pahrey, im sure you'll go 'WTF!' the first times encountering Kangaxx before coming to the conclusion! :D

Need info and hints Pah Pah?
