Info: UT2K4 Demo/CoH Beta

Post by noel »

UT2k4 Demo is out today at 12PM PST. Should be up on fileplanet, etc.

To be guaranteed to get into the City of Heroes beta, simply preorder.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

It should also be noted that you can always cancel your preorder after you get into beta, and still be able to play.

Err so you pre-order and they email you the beta account info? Or is the info actually in the box you have to purchase?

Friend said it had some weird helicopter type thing, that looked similar to what Serpentor had in GI Joe heh. Also had a tank and a hummer type vehicle as well. He's going on 2 hours of sleep and hyped on coffee, he's not very coheret, I think he liked it.

Many vehicles -

Land:
Tank
2 seater jeep
3 person humvee
single seater cycle looking thing

Air:
The GI Joe thing mentioned before
A thing that reminds me of the defense droids in Halo....but bigger, and you get to fly it.

They also brought Assault back, and the included demo map is quiet nice.

The new gameplay (Onslaught) is pretty much identical to Planetside except with less people and screaming graphics.

Everyone has a main base, and there are power generators in and around it. Fight your way to domination of the generators until you have a link to the enemy, then destroy their main generator, and the round is yours.

Is anyone hosting a server for Veeshan players? Got this last night and played team deathmatch on some random server but the people I was playing against weren't much of a challenge :/

When the full game comes out I may put a server up. I had one installed for UT2003 but we never really did anything with it. Have to see how it runs... UT2003 had bad pings.

The demo is really nice though, I'm looking forward to the whole release.

Love it, but having the same problem with it as I do with UT2k3 - every 45 seconds or so, I get a hard freeze for about 5, 10 seconds, then resumes as if nothing has changed.

Any clues what might be causing it?

I might buy it if a lot of my friends do, but I might hold out a bit longer for Tribes Vengeance. Tribes 1 was about the only FPS game I really got into or was ever really that good at.

Spinfuz0r and mortar for the win. Man, I loved Tribes and I can't even remember why I stopped playing that game.

Ditto. Tribes 1 was my favorite FPS for sure.

How do you use the voice chat in UT2k4? Ive never played a game with you can actually speak to people in. Ive got the demo, and so far it's fun, but I always suck at FPS or "twitch" games.

heh, i just played this game for the first time since the first unreal tourney. My first game I won in a 8 player deathmatch 25-14-everyone else. Either, I am that damn good or they really suck (i did go in a 'rampage'). I loved the game, it is really easy to jump into and play, and the levels were pretty cool. The graphics were more than necessary, but if your computer can handle it, it is heh, unreal. I will most certainly buy this game when it comes out next month.

I'm getting better, I got to "GODLIKE" twice in one game, using rocket launcher and lightning for snipe. Im so-so at close combat, but I rocked while sniping/defending. What are peoples names in in UT2K4 demo?

I'm Ajax. Add me to buddy if you like. Post yer names here so we can make a clan :P

xZiBiT is my game name

they nerfed my flak cannon, translocator, shock gun, sniper rifle, and rocket launcher since the original ut, at least the mini and pulse still do the job

i was playing with my ut clan last night was a blast, after playing ps, it took me half hour to get back used to the speed but after i did i murderlized 'em

i missed my dodge, dodge, forward flip, rocketspam/shock-combo, monster kill, thrust taunt, "BOOM!!!" move

still doesn't compare to the original or the tribes series but it was much better than ut2k3 imho

don't know what servers you fellas play on but it'd be fun to frag with y'all

had to redownload it last night and it finally works on my PC. All I can say is WOW the graphics are top notch and game play is ultra smooth. I have yet to see the vehicles but the CTF map I played last night for over an hour was well built and offered a good challenge on both offense and defence.

I will look that one up soon as I get home. On another note, does anyone run a server yet or do VV people play on a specific server that I can get in on?

This game is really starting to piss me off, in assault mode it works fine, but in onslaught the game crashes at some point after 1 minute. Its really getting annoying. I have the graphics ALL the way down and it still happens.
1.2ghz winxp 64geforce mx 310ram
i was able to run battlefield on this computer with minimal problems, that onslaught level cant be that big
