Recycled and rehashed crap!

Post by Dups. »

You know what I find very annoying with TV shows these days. How predictable the dialogue has become. It seems to be the same damn thing over and over just different characters and show name. It seems like the writers are unable to think of anything new and fresh. So they just take what has been done before and alter it 0.001%.

Examples of such.

Example 1:

Bob the dumb one: I have an idea. Let's just take a taxi to the place.

Hank the smart one: That's dumb. I have a better idea. We can go to the place in a taxi.

Bob the dumb one : Any dumbass line revolving around "Why didn't I think of that?"

------------

Example 2:

Bob gets news of something that "should" bother him.

Hank , his friend, freaks out and panics. He then tries to console Bob , even though Bob is being calm , cool and collective.

Lather , rinse, repeat!

-------------

Example 3:

This one is harder to explain but it'll try.

Bob is confused about a situation. Hank and George are speaking a little bit away from Bob. As they are talking Bob continues to add input even though he is confused and has no idea that what he is saying is so far off and does not make sense.

Basicly that one is the "Im dumb and do not know it." routine.

--------------

Example 4

This one is to a lesser extent. However it's still annoying.

Bob is saying something.

Hank overhears the last part of what Bob said.

If Bob said something like "My dog had sex with another dog."

Hank would hear 'had sex with another dog" and assume Bob was doing so.

----------

Example 5

Bob says a joke.

Hank laughs his ass off and finishes off with a "I don't get it"

God that one is so overdone.

---------

Example 6

Bob says "No I did not."

Hank says "Yes you did"

Bob says "No I did not."

Hank says "Yes you did"

Bob says "Yes I did" --- OHHH the ol' reversal!!!

Hank says "No you did not" BOOYAHHH Bob just fucking smoked the shit out of Hank!

---------
Example 7

Bob has an object of some sort , usually a football. He says "Hank.. go long!. No longer!!!... Keep going!!!"

Hank just keeps on a runnin'

Bob turns around and does not through the object in question.

-------

Recent shows I found guilty of the following rehashed crap are:
Friends (god , I can watch a new episode and tell you relativly what's going to happen next)
Will and Grace has been guilty of many of those examples as well.
10 Simple rules to dating my daughter seems to have a lot of predictable writting.

-----

So what do you think? Are shows of today way too predictable and rehashed? Or am I some sort of demi-god with powers unseen by many!?
I have no sense of decency. This way , all my other senses are enhanced!

I stopped watching sitcoms sometime in 91 or 92, they are way to predictable, that 1-2 second pause between someone saying something and a punchline, plus canned laughter, taping before live audience with stage staff pretty much signaling people when to laugh, when to say "awww", is aggrivating-.

Also what bothers me in today's shows is leaving you hanging before something funny/shocking is suppose to happen until AFTER the commercial.

Thank god for movies and DVD's, otherwise I'd probably turn on my TV maybe for 2-3 hours a week.

I hate TV shows about TV shows. Or sitcoms about characters that happen to be actors in TV shows. Or about how TV shows are made.

Even more though, I hate it when the news reports what's happening in TV shows. The. People. That. Care. WATCH THE FUCKING SHOW.
It's not news.

Scrubs is one of the few shows still on tv that I can stand watch. I have yet to find any new sitcoms that I can sit thru for more than five minutes, before I vomit myself into convulsions and wake up bent over the couch with my pants around my knees.

I <3 Scrubs. The best part about it? No laugh track. I'm now boycotting any shows with laugh tracks.

Fox's Sunday night lineup is pretty good. I was disappointed when NBC got rid of Coupling. I guess I was one of the few that thought it was a good show.

Its all about CSI and Without a Trace nowadays. Those are the only shows I make a point to watch. Scrubs is the only good sitcom on right now. All the others are old and tired, or just flat out bad.

Oh yeah, I also like Joan of Arcadia. A suprisingly good show in my opinion.

I love Curb Your Enthusiasm. A lot of people miss out on it, cause its on HBO. It's by the creator of Seinfeld and often has that sort of comedy, just rated R version of Seinfeld.

I love this show but I've only been able to catch one or two episodes due to it's friday time slot :( I'm never home.

I enjoyed the original UK version quite a bit, but this one was not nearly as good.

Too often it seems it is the peaceful and innocent who are slaughtered. In this a lesson may be found that it may not be prudential to be either too peaceful or too innocent. One does not survive with wolves by becoming a sheep.

Agreed! I watch the sporadic repeats on BBC America whenever I can.

I steet clear of the tellie as much as I can. My wife and I really only watch Law & Order, West Wing, and Las Vegas (much :<3: for Molly Simms! *sigh*).
