hahah...The competition in Japan and Europe is so much stronger, not counting Brazil. Even so, the Brazilians primarily compete in Japan or Europe. While there are some great American fighters, the competition in the continental United States is not as strong as in Japan...

Bob Sapp and Takayama aren't too representative of either country. They're more for crowd pleasure ;) Though both have had some great outings against superior fighters, for sure.

Bob Sapp is popular due to the Godzilla VS King Kong syndrome. The Japanese love that thing, to see real big monsters fighting in the ring!

The fella weighs in around 170 kg!

Not a great fighter, but strong and sells tickets!

Sapp is learning though(he came from american football), but he will never be a good fighter.

What's fun to see is that he is using grappling now!

In his first fights he just used haymakers and didnt know anything about kicks or grappling.

In every fight he is in, he uses something new! Which is a good thing for him! :)

He is so popular in Japan that he is in a crapload of japanese commercials , have made records, shows, have toys made after him, etc etc etc

Bob Sapp TV-Dinner etc etc

Hilarious! He was on Jay Leno show once and scared the crap out of Ben Afleck! :D

Yeah he's fun to watch sometimes, like when he almost bashed his way to a win over El Minotauro. Can't say he isn't trying very hard; he's learning everyday ;) But yeah, his body type will never allow him to become a great fighter. Even though he's all muscle, he is just too frickin huge and not enough stamina! Fun to watch sometimes though!

Yes, with a weight of 170kg, Cardio will always be a problem for him.

He is powerful in the first 30 seconds of the round though!
