Gift Ideas - 25th Anniversary...
I need help! We're throwing this surprise bash for my parent's 25th anniversary tomorrow and I still haven't gotten a gift for them. Does anyone have any good ideas to consider? One more day of shopping left!!

How much do you want to spend?
Cruise would be nice, some time away... but there are other things as well. Someone mentioned bread maker but you might consider getting them a new computer if they need one, getting email/IM setup etc... Many parents also don't have surround sound DVD system but usually love to watch movies, there are digital cameras as well so they can take TONS of pictures of kids/grandkids...

a card saying
"you first know what true love is after 25 years of marrige"
Bernard Shaw
i think it was him that said it .. have to look it up.
could be a typo on the quote btw
but it's pretty close though.
uh and a big bag of yellow m&m's , they'll know what it means even if you don't.

I just barely saw this post and wanted to reply even though it may be too late.
For something as special as the 25th anniversary of a marriage, I'd want to give a gift that would hilite the many memorable moments of those 25 years.
First, try to find all the old family pictures of the last 25 years that truly bring back those memories that made your parents smile, cry with joy and happiness, etc. Starting with their old wedding photo, newborn pictures of each of their children, etc if you can find it.
Once you found enough memorable family photos of the last 25 years, save it onto a CD-Rom, Video casstte, or photo allbum. There's even software out there that can make great photo albums with special effects, etc from pictures.
In addition to existing photos, take pictures of any old items, or family heirlooms, souvenirs, etc that bring back happy moments in their 25 year marriage and add them too.
The point is to let your parents know and see all the wonderful moments in their 25 year bond of marriage that they may have forgotten or need to be reminded of once again.
I know this may take a little work so one day wont be enough to complete this important gift idea. 25 years is a long time to be married and something even I dont see often around me.
Either way, I know you'll get something that will be from the heart and that's what ultimately counts...your love for them.
Just a gift idea of mine even though a little late....oh well.
Congrats to your parents on their 25 years being together, Coatlicue. Least I can witness one of their great moments...they had you
Ok, Samo is outta here....

25th is silver no? maybe something to match what they have a small silver trinket of some kind...or watches or jewelry - anything along that theme
if silver is too pricey maybe go in on a gift for something nice - like a silver necklace for mom and a silver watch for dad
something useful might be better than a tray or vase if they won't use it or display it - but if they will that might be cool and you could get it engraved

I agree with Calandra, something silver, maybe a silver picture frame with one of their wedding pictures and/or baby pictures of their kids? Engraving is always a nice touch too.
Stay away from appliances or knick-knacks for something like their 25th. It should be beautiful AND meaningful, something to display, and something to commemorate their marriage.
