Can someone explain?

Post by Sirton »

Ive always been facinated with politics all my life since I was brought up in it and Im wondering by what Im looking at....why is the media basically saying Kerry is the winner?

Now Im a moderate Republican....so Im not voting for any of these guys, but Im for knowing everything about anyone that may become my future President(I dont care much about what idiots tell me about em on TV...I want to see everything for myself.)Im wondering why wont the media let this play out and let the people decide without trying to manipulate the outcome when they think its a good time to knock someone out.. I HATE this whole media thing of building up HEROS for groups of people THEN tearing em down when it will make em abit of money. Hey the guy was a wrestler at one time and maybe hes off the wall, but they went over board in trashing him....So the guy doesnt know how to yell or maybe he was hoarse...Well he actually looked drunk when I watched it live he was stumbling all over also!!!

I understand Kerry has momentum and thats the main thing...but thats from a NE state and Iowa....Yea Dean is also from the NE, but hes pro gun, NRA which plays better in southern states and HES an outsider of washington and a governor all pluses for the whitehouse.. I must say.

I just look at it and Edwards will win SC...Dean has a good chance in coming in second there..then sharpton

Oklahoma...clark then kerry and edwards

Missouri...all out Kerry

Arizona...Kerry, Dean, Clark all in contention.

New Mexico Dean and Clark

Delaware Dean

And I understand Dean has a decent chance or in contention in Michigan, Washington, Virginia, Texas, California, New York, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Illinois, Pennsylvania ect ect ect. Major States!

I got most of this from polls at:
http://www.davidwissing.com/demstatepolls.html

And also just listening to the news at states Dean or others still have a shot in.

Also I found this interesting....according to CNN delegate count Dean is winning and he even gained 2 delegates as of today alone. He was 111 last night and Kerry was 94..
This info. is at....
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/primar ... index.html

I tried to goto the primary explainer there and it wouldnt come up for me.... Again I do understand momentum..but Im just thinking this may of just brought Kerry from OUT OF THE RACE into contention or may get him front runner status after next tuesday.

I guess what Im trying to get at...is how exactly do these delegates work?? Does each Senator or house member=1 delegate each then the voters get the rest, so endorsments really matter.....Like I see Dean already has won 15 delegates from California, 10 from New Jersey, 8 from New York, 7 from Washington and 111 in all to Kerrys 94??? Hows that? Why wont the media show the total delegate count on TV if this is what they are showing on the internet if ya search for it?

Maybe one of you Die hard Democrats can explain it better for me than what the media is able.

Thx

You know, after having lived in the US for 5+ years now I have come to learn that the political system here just plain sucks. I'll take my multiple-party direct election from back home any day of the week.

I know that is not an answer but damn.. this has been bugging me for a while!

Them Yankees loves them a circus! My favourite part is the candidates holding rallies to convince people that were going to vote for them to vote for them, or give them money perhaps. Money, that's the root of evil in American politics..

actually Sirton the media is not saying Kerry is the winner.

HOw do i know this? i watch 50+ hrs of media a week!

they are saying he is the "front-runner".

every analyst i have heard says that just about anything can happen on Super Tuesday, but there will be a lot of clarification there.

The only reason Dean is leading is because of unpledged delegates. These are people that can change their vote at any time. The majority of the votes from these states have not come in yet. The only states with pledged delegates so far are Iowa and New Hampshire.

Actually, the laws for unpledged delegates change from state to state. Some states have the winner take the unpledged delegates, some allow them to vote for whoever they want.
