Apparently SoE has plans on implementing a "real" casino for the Shadowhaven area. I'm not a huge fan of casinos but this will probably cut back the amount of times a GM will have to hit the macro button (/tell player, "Their's nothing we can do about it.") for when some dingus get's ripped off by a player owned casino.
I am interested in seeing how well this will work and if we'll have the added benefit of stepping over the drunken casino hobos who have pissed their money away

Oh, and your poet Eliot had it all wrong:
THIS is the way the world ends. Cortana
Akaran of Mistmoore, formerly Akaran of Veeshan I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.
Using my amazing psychic powers, I predict that once the Casinos go live, guild banks across the server will mysteriously ( and coincidentally! ) begin to deplete at an astronomical rate
Supposedly someone got a prismatic weapon from a casino on test.
As outdated as avatar procing weapons are, being able to put money into a casino and receive something like prismatic, or a nerfed item, or a no longer dropping item (gnome mask, SoD), seems really really wrong.
Make unique casino items, and put them on par with stuff already in the bazaar, but please don't hand out prismatic or holgresh beads ><
Current Incarnations:
Flintler, EQ2, Crushbone, HOOAC
Grahmiam, WoW, Firetree, The Crazy 88
Primal thing was just a joke that got turned into a rumor.
As far as the other things, well, the masks I could see since they are more toy effects than anything else. But the Beads and pre nerf Fungi staff are still abusable items. I think if I were one of the few people on the server who legitimately got a gnome mask and some schmo (lets even say a seekers of lore tard) got one just by dumping plat into an NPC, I'd feel like my experience was cheapened. But they just started doing full gear transfers, so the fat lady can deffinitely be heard warming up in the distance.....
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .
Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."
Taking money out of the economy, but at the same time adding items to the economy at a greater rate than normal (ie through camping, etc) doesn't sound like a sound idea to me.
I would rather see a purely monetary casino be put in place if the goal is to just rid the economy of excess cash. Parameters can be adjustable based on the health of the economy. Say, for every 100pp gambled, 40pp goes to jackpots while 60pp is wiped out, or more aggressive at 20/80. You get the point. Money to winners is then paid out from the pot (ie jackpot type payoffs vs. odds).
I bought 20 tokens (2kpp) to play. I ended up winning a ton more tokens, and was able to get over 100 plays for my 2k. In the end, I walked out with 4 stacks of some shitty stat food, 1 CFE, 1 Troll Illusion potion and 3 gnomish fireworks heheh.

Played another stack of tokens last night before the casino was despawned. I got a deluxe sewing kit, which I was pretty happy with. I still haven't won a goldent ticket, but wouldn't really expect to with the (relatively) small amount of pp that I've thrown at it.
