Anyone played Icewind Dale 2 ?

Post by Funkmasterr »

I was considering buying it, but want to hear from a few people that have played it first.. I generally like D&D games, but as embarrased as I am to admit it, I don't think I was able to figure out how to get out of the first dungeon in baulders gate 2.. got trapped in some room. At any rate, would like to hear from anyone thats PLAYED this - not the normal blah blah blah it will never be better than eq crap.

I plan on getting Icewind Dale 2, the first one was excellent. The expansion (Heart of Winter) left a little to be desired since it was rather short... but it's a good game overall.

I hope the sequel is as good as the original. =D

How does that series compare to the Balder's Gate series storywise?

Just as engaging?

I think the story in Baldur's Gate was pretty top notch... Icewind Dale's wasn't bad, from what I remember. It was a much smaller scale, I think... it's been a while since I played it. =)

scale wise - baldurs gate 2 had the largest. And from what I have read, Icewind Dale 2 is big, but still not as big as BG2. The pros I have heard for icewind dale 2 are that the new version 3 or whatnot set of rules for d&d are used, and that makes the game a bit better. Downsides I have seen were that it is extremely fight intensive, and can sometimes be too complex with its puzzles and such. That does'nt suprise me since , like I said before - I got stuck in the first dungeon of baldurs gate 2 ( which now that I have resurfaced that though, pisses me off so bad that I just bought the strategy guide off ebay and plan on getting thru the whole damn game if it takes me the rest of my life.) Anyhow - thats about all I have heard so far.

yes tactics...

Keep an eye on game boy releases then if you are looking for more titles. While square is going to continue releasing the FF epic titles on PS2, they are planning on smaller titles to be released on Game Boy advance or whatever. I haven't seen any titles listed yet, but I know it was being developed, etc.

Also, keep an eye out for FFO, supposed to follow a more advanecd FFT class system.

SORRY HIJACK TT
