to remove this, try to use this freeware soft - HijackThis or search in registry for suspicious .exe, .js, .hta, .vbs here:
Start->Run->regedit

For some reason, I have this alternate search engine come up when I type in the url for msn or yahoo. The message on the bottom reads like this :

VBS.Bootconf is a Trojan Horse that modifies the TCP/IP settings to point to a different address. It also changes the Internet Explorer home page and search page to connect to http://www.royalsearch.net.
