http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/11/06/massou ... index.html

This guy was assassinated by persons acting on orders from Bin Laden on 9/9/01.

This guy was the leader of the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan at the time.

Supposedly in April of 2001 he warned the US of a threat from Al Queda in a speech he made at the European Parliament.

quoting the Defense Intelligence Agency's document:
The Cable wrote:In April 2001, Massoud Addressed the French and European Parliaments in Paris. In his televised speech he warned the US government about UBL {1.75 lines of text blacked out}.

{next section 3. Relationships}
After the terrorist strikes on the U.S. Embassies in Africa, and receiving intelligence for his forces regarding UBL's future attacks Massoud began to warn the west of UBL and Al-Qaida {blacked out lines}

COMMENTS: (C/NF) {whole paragraph blocked out}
Not writing this to say that 9/11 was Bush's fault, not Clinton's, or to say it was Clinton's fault not Bush's. Just thought it was interesting. Seems like we had a fair amount of warning, but even still, was any of it really specific? What could have really been done if anything. Who knows. i'm not somebody who is of the opinion that we have to go on a witchhunt to find agencies to blame for 9/11, etc either.

It's always been the American way to feel, 'It won't happen to me, it'll happen to someone else.' Both individually, and on a large scale.

I'm sure we had ton of warning. And I'm sure we disregarded it all.

I think whenever a major tragic event happens thats leads to war is going to have some paranoia to it. I'm not saying nothing happened behind the scenes, but theres always a possibility. Like how many people thaught and still think we knew Pearl Harbor was going to happen.
