I can't exactly put my finger on it, but there's something about that guy's diction that is the exact opposite of what fits in rap.

And he also raps like Data from star trek. Use contractions and abbreviated words my man.

Those are both part of it, another is his distinct pronunciation of the letter "g" in words that end in "ing".
