How come nobody gets sued when people kill in the name of < insert diety name here >? I mean hell.. someone goes out and says God said to kill people, sue the Catholic church! Sue the local Jewish Temples! Sue the Baptists!
Give me a break.
Maybe someone will sue Nascar the next time some idiot speeds on a highway and hits/kills someone in an accident.
The gene pool is contaminated.

I saw this lawyer on Headline News this morning and he was asked why the parents didn't stop the kids form playing these games and he said it was Walmart's responsibility not to sell them. He also said that all these games were made for the military so they could condition young recruits to kill easier. I never saw a single fucking video game during my time int eh service. What a fucking crackpot this guy is.

So it's Walmart's responsibility to not sell scissors, because kids could cut themselves or stab other kids with them.asked why the parents didn't stop the kids form playing these games and he said it was Walmart's responsibility not to sell them.
So it's Walmart's responsibility to not sell silverware because it contains forks that could be used by kids to stab other kids, and butter knives to do the same.. let's not even mention the steak knives!
So it's Walmart's responsibility to not sell garbage bags because kids could suffocate themselves or others with them.
How about car batteries.. touch the two posts, boom.. how about Drain-O? How about bleach? Rope? Ladders? Blenders? Hammers? Nails? Glass products?
It's always someone ELSE who's responsible for your child's stupidity.

I spy a grammatical error. I'm docking Voronwe's pay.cnn.com wrote:The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in the case last year that it was "simply to far a leap from shooting characters on a video screen to shooting people in a classroom."

Wal-mart actually does not sell M rated games and lately they have even gone as far as pulling maxim and stuff and all those other phony porn magazines off the shelf in the name of good christian family values. They make exceptions when it comes to huge sellers though. GTA3 sold something like 4 million copies in north america; and Wal-mart is responsible for something like 60% of all videogame sales in north america. It's pretty hypocritical, but capitalism is capitalism.Zamtuk wrote:While I disagree with everything this lawsuit is about, I do, and always have, wondered one thing. Why is it that Walmart sells rated R moves and games like GTA, but won't sell a parental advisory cd?
I don't think Wal-mart or any shop should be selling GTA games to kids under 17 years old though, and I think the lawyer suing has a point in saying that Wal-mart should not have sold the game to those kids. In fact GTA3 probably even did have a hand in convincing these kids to shoot at cars with guns. I don't think violent videogames make you a violent person though.
i'll never understand how somebody can sue in a case like this. the parents probably bought the kids that game, it doesn't say anywhere in the article that wal-mart sold it directly to the kids. (jfc shoot me, i'm fucking defending wal-mart.) and even if wal-mart did sell it directly to the kids, how can it possibly be said that it's wal-mart and sony's fault the kids stole guns from their parents and shot people?
anyone can say they were "inspired" to do something. i'm going to spare you all some very lame analogies, but inspiration means jack diddly pupu if you've been taught some very basic shit by your parents that runs counter to your so-called "inspiration".
at the ages of 14 and 16, if those kids don't understand the difference between playing a video game and target practice on the freeway, i'm of the opinion that it's nobody's fault but the parents'. perhaps this makes me an asshole, but oh well.
