Hmm, so these voting machines... they were used when Davis was elected?

Are they suggesting that they don't work correctly?

I wouldn't really consider the hundred thousand or so signatures they had to get to force a recall in a state of 30 million people to be the will of the people. I would call it an electoral process in dire need of reform so it can't be manipulated by jealous conservatives to circumvent democracy, however.

And I think Gray Davis is a shithead so don't bother playing that card.

They actually collected..... 1.4 million signatures? Something pretty close to that. 3% or so of the electorate.

If the will of the people isn't behind tossing Davis out, he won't be removed. No smoke and mirrors with electoral votes, just punch your ballot and have your say.

Thus proving that voting is too hard for most of the populace.

the voting machines in question were already scheduled to be replaced, but they were on schedule to be replaced by the date of the normal elections, not the special recall elections.

this is all part of the political game gents. you should not be surprised if this sort of thing comes up along the way, and unless the GOP in Cal. is run by morons, they saw this coming down Hwy 5 as well.

having limited (if any) real legal knowledge, i would still be surprised if this does anything more than stall the process a bit. it is probably a diversionary tactic to get the GOP to have to waste time in the courts instead of focusing more effort in their campaign efforts (which are slipping).

Whole hearted agreement if you put a period after the word manipulated and leave your left wing venom out. That's what drives me crazy about your posts - you oftimes present good ideas and then fuck up the message with a hate injection.

Lol. Ash, if you're interested in knowing more about election manipulation (especially in the case of voting machines), just type in "Texas" and "18181" in a Google search. Kyou's invective isn't as misplaced as it may seem in this case.

this is all part of the political game gents
But should it be?
If the courts got involved in the UK election process this often I'd be worried.

No they aren't fine. The ACLU took them to court after the last election for the same exact thing, you know, when the democrats were voted in. The machines were supposed to be replaced before the next election. Well here is the next election and the machines haven't been replaced. Therefore, they moved to block the election again.

The entire nineth circuit appeals court will be meeting to review yesterdays decision by the 3 judge panel who made it.

Yeah the ninth circuit know they screwed up now and they will probably reverse their own decision. California as a whole doesn't seem very happy about a bunch of judges blocking an election.

They are only the most overturned because they are predominantly liberal and the only court capable of reversing their decisions is predominantly conservative. If the situation were reverse they would still be the most overturned panel in the country and it really has nothing to do with the decisions they make. Although I'm sure in your mind if it were the other way around then they could do know wrong and SCOTUS would be the most evil bastards in the nation.

I think its fucking sad that even your justice system is so partisan but its cool that you can ignore law in favor of personal politics.

Why all the discussion? It's Arnold hands down. California is a joke of a state. Most of our west coast is ruined because of retards in that state.

Smart companies got the hell out of California long ago. Let that fucking state rot! The remaining big business will survive by relocating.

You people in California should be ashamed!

I live in one of the counties in question, we will have our machines in by the next scheduled election, also known as November. The recall wasn't a planned election, hence our people aren't trained on the machines/all the machines are not in yet. The recall is actually going to make it more difficult for them to be up in time (very little time for training) and we are not, as a county, being reimbursed the expense of this extra election.
