Enterprise....

Post by Lor »

I thought the first show of the season was pretty good, it seems like they are going for the Babylon 5 look to the aliens, That Mantis creature was a definate rip off, it looks like they are trying to liven things up with the fighting , those commando types were a pretty cool addition. The scene where the vulcan chick (can't spell her name so i'm not even gonna try ) takes off her shirt and you got a nice side view of her bresteses was pretty nice too.

Thoughts?

I thought it was just ok. I've seen much much better season premiers.

I think it set a great standard for what we will see this season. They promised more action in every sense of the word and I think if the season continues on like this it will be really cool.

After a while you get tired of the, "let's be friends" mentality towards everyone and you need to see some all out ass kicking. DS9 had some great episodes with combat involved (remember Nog losing his limb).

It's kind of interesting, since I'm pretty sure one of the stipulations Scott Bakula had for taking the role was that the show would be along the more peaceful, happy go lucky feelings. I haven't watched Enterprise since like halfway through the first season tho.. just didn't catch. The engineer and the doctor were the only characters I liked.

Enterprise is by far the worst Star Trek series to date. It's just not interesting to watch.

Enterprise is still around? I thought it was long gone. Guess there's no accounting for taste.

I've watched "a bit" of a couple enterprise episodes. Just isn't interesting to me. Must appeal to someone, as it gets renewed...

The Episode tonight was good as well. Personally I wanted them to resolve this last week but it looks like most of this season will be spent in the expanse which if Archer suffocates anyone else may prove to be very interesting.

Yea, Ta-pal's (sp) boobs list week were very nice. My wife and I both just died laughing wondering how many lonley geeks are watching that scene over and over again in slow motion... :)

Going back to the formula that made DSN such a hit, great ship combat scenes. I was loving it last night. As far as Archers evolving personality, it seems forced, he's struggling with ethics way too much to be believable. Earth is at stake, these decisions should come easily for him. Just seems too fake. Everything else though, great. I did not watch the first season out of sheer boredom. I am giving this season a chance. Did not like the premiere, but loved this second episode. Until next time.

I like the direction the show is taking this season. I thought the best shows of the first season were the conflict driven episodes. They have a decent cast, but trying to have character driven episodes week after week is fucking boring. The Federation was founded by phasers as well as friendship.

I liked TNG a lot, mostly because of Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner. The writers knew where the talent was in their cast, and exploited it well. I thought that DS9 and Voyager were total ass from start to finish.

I thought Wil Wheaton was the talent behind ST:TNG?!

But seriously, Brent Spiner? I guess he plays an android pretty good, but when he started trying to learn emotions and such in a few episodes (or was it one of the movies?, I can't remember)....wow that was fucking terrible.

Man.. DS9 is the only star trek series worth watching. Avery Brooks, Siddig el Fadil and Colm Meaney are top notch actors and they had a (for the most part) great supporting cast. Andrew Robinson will always be the most creative and complex alien ever cast in the entire show. There were NO FUCKING VULCANS (thank christ), and Sisko was an immortal asskicker.

I really enjoyed the serialized storylines too. I hate how the other treks fucking resolve everything at the end of the hour. That's also why I marginally enjoy Enterprise too. Although it seems to be going the way of voyager where the main hottie who all the nerds are sposed to drool over's clothes get tighter and nastier in proportion to how bad the ratings are.

While I loved TNG and like Enterprise I loved DS9 as well. I thought it was really piss poor that the person who played Dax couldn't have stayed ONE more season and had to screw up the storyline right at the end. Esrie just wasn't the same.

I agree with Kyou 1000% , DS9 was the Best Star Trek by leaps and bounds... I really wish that they would have made a Star Trek that picked up after TNG and DS9, Something that would have gone forward with the story not back 100 years, think of the possibilities..............

Marb, I didn't like the new dax either, she was just too much of a wuss for the show.

I liked the new dax. She was a nice counter balance to all the other characters who were basically all a bunch of hardasses from fighting like every alien species in the trek universe for 6 seasons. It was a shame they stopped making that series because I thought it still had a lot of stories to tell.

I also sort of hoped that they would make a trek series on a frigate or some other bad ass battleship where their mission was sort of the opposite of what the enterprise is for (all the dirty shit). I heard that they were throwing around the idea for a series about those nasty starfleet intelligence dudes they introduced in DS9, but instead we got this Enterprise crap. Yeah okay guys we know that the federation is some socialist utopia by now. How about a series about the people that keep it a utopia by fucking up everyone else's shit?!

Yeah but unfortunately the brief for a new star trek series from Paramount was "must contain a ship called Enterprise", I gather.

A series about Section 31 (?) woudl have ruled especially if they could have kept old wossisface in the role of chief tosser. You know the guy, played Death in Bill and Ted, the bad guy in Die Hard 2, one of the guys in Shawshank. THat fella. Wossisface. Yes.

Garak was my favourite character in DS9.

And Jadzia was the hottest of all the beam-me-up-totty ever.

The evolving storylines is what made me finally start watching DS9, after they ditched the TNG type storylines. I am still hoping that for the next star trek series they break the mold and perhaps do a Star Trek: Klingon. Imagine a show from a 100% Klingon perspective, they could make it interesting I'm sure..

How about a unified storyline altogether?

The best parts of DS9 were the half season runs of the dominion wars and cardassian BS... I don't claim to be an expert, as I watched the series somewhat sporadically through the run, and usually only as new episodes. But what I liked the most about them was that each episode continued the progression of the last one.

TNG is destined to be the "classic" ST series. Even more so than the original. However, nearly every episode is a stand-alone, by which you need not see anything before or after it to understand the story.

DS9 wasn't quite so easygoing on the story writing aspect, and to some extent, Voyager was the same. Enterprise has been following the pattern until the whole Xindi story arch. I hope that they continue it through the run of the season, but I'm not holding my breath for this to go past 5 episodes, honestly.
