It's about time, we do it anyway. I know Carter is happy right about now, now he can die in peace?

I've been to Cuba. Beautiful country. Lots of happy people. Quite a few in poverty but hey that's what happens when the most powerful country in the world decides to punish the Cuban people because of a 50 year old political feud.

I'm pretty sure he's forbidden to travel abroad under the conditions of his parole.

i wouldnt mind visiting cuba myself for a week or so and see what its like, becouse all ive heard my entire life is of the festering shithole it had become

Yeah lots of wealthy and formerly wealthy and extremely influencial Cubans hate Castro because of what he did (mostly nationalizing US owned businesses that profited from Cuba's tourism). I don't blame them for not liking him but I blame the US government for being servants to their lobbies that have propagated an unfair embargo against the Cuban people for decades longer than it should have gone on for.

I don't think much of Castro but he is popular in Cuba. He had a vision of an independent Cuba where the profits from the land and people stayed within the country instead of getting exported abroad. I just don't think that the people should have to suffer because another country disagrees with their leadership.

Yeah Castro is such a great guy eh Kyoucunt? Tell that to all the people that stood in front of the firing squads or are in prison for simply speaking out against Castro. The embargo isn't there because of the lobbiest, they're there because the mother fucker dared to A. bring communism within some 90 miles from us and B. he fucking parked some lil nukes there too...I think your mind is corrupted from all the Cuban prostitutes that'll fuck your brains for a pair of shoes and some panties. We all know that's the reason so many Canadians go there. Yeah for "Vacation". Yeah I'm Cuban-American, but I have never gone to Cuba. I'll go there the day that mother fucker is DEAD so I can go to his grave and piss all over it!

Actually he was a marxist nationalist until the USA embargoed him and the only major country that would trade with him was the USSR. Try to learn some motherfucking history you clueless fucking babboon because you are an embarrasment to your heritage.

So you could say that the US brought communism within some 90 miles of the US.

The united states trades with many, many communist countries and countries with far, far, far worse human rights violations than Cuba. Or are you going to deny that too? The only thing that keeps Cuba under sanctions is the Cuban special interest groups throwing money around in DC.

and B. he fucking parked some lil nukes there too...
actually no he didn't. the missiles never left the soviet transports they were on. the US had and has nukes closer to the soviet border in eastern european countries anyway so I fail to see an difference.

Yeah that's probably it.

Well you've never been there and you know fucking shit all about the country's history, so I guess that makes me more Cuban than you. So..

Whats with all the anti US comments Kyo? You really do seem like you hate everything and anything american and protest anything the US does. It really is time for you to shut the hell up. Thx.

Oh will this get me another of those catchy comments? Perhaps with all caps? Or maybe just a stupid "this is what my country learned me in schools" comment that you are just so good at making?

No it'll get you another post wondering if you'll ever say anything relevant to a discussion or if you're just going to try and pad your post count with your wimpy little efforts to assert yourself.

The Batista government was so absolutely corrupt that when Castro first took over he decided the best course of action was to kill them all and let God sort them out. While I'm not condoning what Castro did, he had the best interest of his country in heart.

The reason the embargo has lasted so long is because of the stupid childishness of the US government. They put Castro in power expecting to keep the status quo and were none to happy when Castro decided that his country came first before the US government.

I'll be very happy if we can finally get rid of the embargo, its a lousy policy (even just the tourism portion in this particular piece of legislation is at least a step in the right direction).

Although I am sure the embargo has had an effect, I would imagine that a fair deal of cuba's economic problems are the responsibility of their own government. That style of Socialistic/Communist state hasn't exactly had a sterling track record for generating healthy economies.
