Once Upon A Time In China - Bamboo Ladder Fight!
If you're not a martial arts fan, you're in the wrong thread!
This is a clip from Once Upon A Time In China when Wong Fei Hung is fighting Master Yu in a grain warehouse. A lot of the fighting is done in the air between Bamboo Ladders.
Thank God I don't have to worry about file size constraints anymore, cause this sucker is almost 9min long!

Searyx : More Specific?
Well, if youve seen Wheels on Meals with Jackie Chan, you know what fight i am talking about! )
Wheels on Meals , Jackie Chan VS Benny The Jet Urquidez.
The final fight they have in the Castle at the end of the movie when they are trying to rescue the girl.
If you have it, post it! )

Actor = pussy.Kwonryu DragonFist wrote: Karae, define pussy and non-pussy and how do you implement it on these fighters.
Neither of these guys are 'fighters' they are both 'actors' and, therefore, both pussies. In case you haven't noticed, Kwon, movies aren't real life. I have no doubt that any professional fighter of any discipline could take BOTH of them out by himself. That's why they hire bodyguards.
Since you love quotes so much, here's one for you:Searyx Faggot wrote: You do realize that one of those actors is Jet Li, right? Just like Bruce Lee before him, they often have to slow down the camera for him.
I'm not even sure what the hell you mean. Does you mean he can't keep up with the camera?Shania Twain wrote: That don't impress me much.
In conclusion, if Harrison Ford and Bruce Willis can look like badasses in a movie, anyone can. Even some 5'4" 120 lb. pussy who spent the last 20 years learning how to grunt. Even you, even me! But any REAL fighter would still kick our asses. Welcome to real life, retards.

Karae, you must understand that many Martial Artists that later in their career became actors have had a long martial arts background in both competition and fighting, such as Jet Li for example.
Bruce Lee was a Martial Artist that later in life became an actor to fulfill a dream. Bruce fought many people during his days, before and after becoming an "actor".
Many Martial Arts actors are martial artists/fighters from the beginning and then become actors. They are not trained just for that role, but have a long martial arts background, be it fighting or forms.
By Professional fighter i assume you mean someone like Kazushi Sakuraba or someone competing in UFC, Pride, K1 and such.
Both Jet Li and Brude Lee have competed in fighting competitions as well.
Acting and the moviebusiness generally pay more money as well, which makes it more attractive than fighting for money while getting older.
And even though some Martial Arts actors (Jackie Chan have Ken Lo as Bodyguard for example) have bodyguards, does not mean that they cannot defend themselves in a fight.
They just pay someone else to defend them, so they can be in shape for the next movie.
Jet, Bruce, Jackie and the rest have had the same training as many of the UFC fighters you see nowadays Karae. They trained in both condition, strength, speed, techniques and have fought opponents both in competition and real combat. They have trained standup fighting as well as Grappling.
The reason they chose Acting before Professional fighting in their later days is probably because it is more lucrative and that they are not young anymore.
But they can still fight, and they have fought.
That is why i consider these two people in the clip Searyx provided fighters.
They can fight, they can defend themselves even if they have now turned into Actors.
If Ken Shamrock would make a movie i would still consider him a fighter, not an actor and not a pussy.
Professional fighting like UFC is good between 20 and 30 years.
When you get older, there are better choices for your body.
And you say that one professional fighter could defeat both of these two gentlemen fighting in this clip at the same time in a real fight situation.
I say, one can only speculate. All parties are trained in striking, kicking and grappling techniques.
Even an untrained person can knock out a trained person if the attack is unexpected.
Even a smaller woman can knock out a larger opponent, hitting the right spot and at the right time.
Calling them pussies would not be appropriate even if they were "merely" acting martial artists.
In this movie clip they show excellent form specifically designed for the movies which is the intent with the movie.
The techniques are fluent and performed correctly. I can only see an improvement in the fight choreography, but even if the choreography was really bad, i would not call the fight choreographer a pussy.
Even if they were "merely" acting fighters, why do you compare them with professional fighters when these "actors" had no intent of comparing themselves with other fighters?
They have not said that they are better than other professional fighters.
They are skilled performers that execute their techniques well and have displayed a good fight for the movies. That is all i see in this clip.
Skilled Actors, Skilled Martial Artists and Skilled Fighters are not people i would call pussies. They show excellence in their areas.

BULLSHIT.
Jet Li did forms competitions. http://www.netasia.net/users/sgc_wdi/biography.htm
Jackie Chan worked as a stuntman before becoming an actor. He's been training as an actor since he was a child. http://www.jackie-chan.com/eng/legend/seven.html
Bruce Lee's life is so shrouded in controversy it's hard to say what is true and what is false, but there are no reports of him every fightingprofessionally http://www.ohio.net/~rabbit/BruceLee/Bruce.html
In short, you're talking out of your ass about a subject you're completely ignorant in. You are the one trying to compare Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, etc to real fighters, not me.
But really, this isn't even about me calling Jet Li a pussy. It's about me vicariously calling you a pussy because you model yourself after him. Well guess what? You're a pussy too.
There, I said it. Now you can stop your fucking whining about Jet Li and start telling me how you kickass because you can do the splits in the air and pose with a rubber gun.

LOL Karae! You are a funny one indeed.
I do not model myself after Jet or any other Martial Artist, infact, i have my own fighting style.
I would not call myself ignorant in the subject, i have met one of Jet Li's teachers and also met a good friend of Jackies(who was training at a Wushu School outside of Shaolin) when i trained in Shaolin and visited several cities in China.
One of my friends that i trained with in Shaolin worked as a bodyguard before becoming a monk and also starred in several movies in Hong Kong.
I have not talked with neither Jet or Jackie, but have gained OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of information through friends and teachers.
Yes, Jet was mainly a forms competitor and that is where he got his merits, but he did fight as well.
He did not compete in fighting though.
Jackies Opera background is well known, but not only did he as a youth learn to act, he also learned how to fight.
Not fight for money like a professional fighter, but fight nonetheless.
There is more to it than what is revealed on the websites of internet.
The information i have on Bruce Lee is what i have read and of course what Linda Lee Caldwell has told my friend that often visits her since he is a JKD representant for this area.
So, my questions for you Karae are these...
Do you consider a Professional fighter someone who fights for money?
Would you consider someone not fighting in competitions but outside the ring a fighter?
Do you consider every Martial Artist that sooner or later in his/her career features in a movie, a pussy?
What made you believe that the fighting gentlemen in this clip, Jet Li and Yen Shi Kwan, could not fight for real? WHat made you call them pussies etc (by analyzing the fight choreography or the techniques?)
Explain how i became a pussy regarding the movieclip above?
Can a fighter only be a pussy or a badass, and nothing between?
Or is the title pussy merely reserved for Actors? )
-
I didnt understand your last request though, should i tell you that i kickass because i do splits in the air etc?
I am not badass or kickass, i am just a Martial Artist.
What i do would like, is your definition of a badass Karae!

The difference is, I make no denials of my being a pussy. Nor do I make any claims in the opposite direction. And, I wish they would kick my ass. Nothing aids the bank account like getting beat up by a rich movie puss...er actor.Searyx wrote:Karae? You do realize that all of the people you mentioned could kick the living shit out of you, right? If they're pussies, then what are you?
This is an irrelevant question. What is relevant is that I do not consider Jet Li a fighter. But if you wish to consider him a fighter, go right ahead. I suppose you think professional wrestlers are fighters too...Kwonryu Ninja Gaiden wrote:Do you consider a Professional fighter someone who fights for money?
No, I'd call them a dumbass and a criminal.Kwonryu Ninja Gaiden wrote:Would you consider someone not fighting in competitions but outside the ring a fighter?
If all they ever did with their years of Martial Arts training was forms, bar fights, and then acting, yes. This may surprise you, but it doesn't take much courage to fight a drunk.Kwonryu Ninja Gaiden wrote:Do you consider every Martial Artist that sooner or later in his/her career features in a movie, a pussy?

First, it's a movie - I think it's fairly well established that movies are fantasy. Second, they actually did 1/100th, approximation, of what we saw. The rest was computer editing and trick filmography.
7 of 9 Asian Swedes wrote:Can a fighter only be a pussy or a badass, and nothing between?
I think I've made it blatantly clear that I don't consider them fighters. I consider them actors, who are inherently pussy.
My definition of a badass? Badass is far too ethereal to define. Essentially I'd have to be afraid to call someone a pussy if I saw them walking around for me to consider them a badass.
P.S. You agree with Searyx. Neener.

Hrmm Jet Li was definitely a world champion martial artist before he became an actor. I've seen some of his fights from long before he was an actor.
Wushus are a lot different than sparring. Jet Li has championship medals from both disciplines. Plus his Wushus were (I think) all weapon intensive and there is no such thing as weapon competitions involving combat even in China (legally anyway).
Jackie Chan is an accomplished martial artist, and he was raised as a performer in the Peking Opera, which has one of the most, if not the most physically intensive non-religious training regimens in the world in ballet, dance, martial arts, acrobatics. They start training you for the Peking Opera at around 5 years old, and it's pretty much torture the whole way through. You live there, and you aren't allowed to see your family, and they put you thru hell almost every waking moment. You don't last there if you are a pussy. He also does 100% of his own stunts, of which none of them are fake or use funky camera tricks.
A lot of movie actors are phonies. Probably none of the HK action stars are. Almost all of them are drawn from the martial arts circuits. The asian film industry is a lot different than hollywood. Those fuckers are intense and they get hurt a lot during shoots. I watched a pretty fucking awesome documentary on the HK film industry a couple years ago. If I can remember the name of it I will post it here.
I have been doing martial arts since I was 8 years old and I think I'm pretty good at spotting what's fake and what isn't. Yeah the films are fake, but the talent isn't.

the music i'm listening too goes right along with that boom shakalaka humping banana avatar. I can't stop wathing it.
Before Ken Shamrock was famous and cheesy I used to take submission wrestling lessons from him at Park Cities Personal Training in Dallas. That guy isn't human i'm pretty sure. Master ching chong dong wong 17th degree ninja belt couldn't make a dent in Shamrock. Not a fair comparison because he was created in a lab somewhere.

Yes, they are using tricks and wires in this movie clip, but the techniques are real Martial Arts fighting techniques.
You can do a lot of tricks with modern moviemaking, but a Martial Artist can see if the fighters in a movie can fight for real or not, if the techniques are really applicable etc..
And the fights i was talking about outside competition and the ring was not barfights, include alcohol.
And now i see...
If we had seen Jet Li and Yen Shi Kwan in more well known fighting competitions like K1, Pride, UFC and the like, before making this clip, you would have called them badass.
Now that you havent seen them performed in such a well-known competition and can merely speculate, you decide to call them pussies instead of excellent performers of skill?
And somehow it seems to me that you also connect courage(lack of it) when you call someone a pussy.
It does not take courage to fight drunk etc
Do you manage to see any lack of courage in these individuals while watching this clip?
It seems to me that you quickly base your statements without really knowing if they can fight for real or not?
To me it feels as if you call someone a "pussy" not based on anything concrete, just by speculation.
I would not call someone a bad name like weakling or say that he cannot fight merely based on a moviefight without knowing the truth.
Even if i did not know any background information about these two gentlemen, i would call them fighters merely by analyzing the techniques.
Not by watching trick filmography, effects etc and think to myself , this whole fight is trickfilmed.
Both of these exponents have great skill and deserve compliments instead of being called bad names and i am sure they would defend themselves real well in a real fight (without alcohol) even though i have never fought them.
Jet Li and Yen Shi Kwan have dedicated many years of their lives to Martial Arts and have attained exceptional skill, for that they should be complimented, not being called pussies.
It is a pity that some people resort to calling other people bad names so quickly, especially when they base their attitude on mere speculation.
Moviefighting is made to look good for the viewers, wider movement, many spectacular techniques not often used in real combat) and Real fighting is Anything goes as long as it is effective.
Of course there is a difference, but even thought they are using many moves not wisely implemented in a real fight in this clip, merely watching this clip(and not any other fights these practicioners have done) you could see that they both possess good fighting techniques and skill.
Whether Jet Li or Yen Shi Kwan would win against Kazushi Sakuraba or Andy Hug in a competition match or real fight, one can only speculate.
But i am sure they could defend themselves well in a real fight(by analyzing techniques and skill shown)
To me, a fighter is someone who has skill, technique, speed, timing, strength and knows how to defend themself.
Someone who can fight, be it on the mat, in the ring or outside.
And if they should decide to make movies in their career , i would be happy for them and not call them Pussies merely for the reason that they made a movie.
And i am not agreeing with Searyx, i am merely happy that he posts some Martial Arts clips!

Shamrock is very good, but so are many of the fighters from Shaolin and many other places.
There are good fighters that people have not seen all over the world and its wrong to assume that this particular fighter is "undentable" by someone we havent seen fight him yet! )
Submission Wrestling and Shootfighting are effective arts as well as Shaolin Chin Na and Grappling.
No matter how good a fighter is, there will always be someone who can beat him.
Thinking you are invincible is the first stage to losing.

Kyoukan:
What styles/arts have you trained since 8?

Butting with the head
Groin attacks
Kicking the head of a grounded opponent.
Kneeing the head of a grounded opponent.
Stomping a grounded opponent
Spiking an opponent to the canvas on his head or neck.
Holding the ropes or the fence.
I saw all that shit first hand. I happened to catch UFC on Fox Sports last week and it was actually entertianing despite all the new rules. You're right, these fuckers are not human. Dan Severn wrked out at a gym in Coldwater, MI (near me).
I don't care how many years of training you've had in martial arts, because when a guy like Dan Severn comes at you, it dosen't mean shit. You could whack him in the head with a telephone pole, and he's still going to take you to the ground and break your spine into a thousand pieces.
I'm surprised no one mentioned Chuck Norris or Steven Segal when they talk about martial arts and movie actors. Chuck Norris competed professionally for years, and Steven Segal trained Navy Seals before his fame. I hate Steven Segal, but that mother fucker knows his shit. All his moves are meant to cripple his opponent by twisting limbs, breaking fingers/hands, and going right for the throat. That bastard is hardcore, and there is really no way to use his fighting style in a competetive environment.

Royce Gracey would probably be mad if you called him Joyce.
I had no idea all of those rules had been implemented. Gracey beat more than one opponent by locking up on his back and kicking them in the kidney with his heal. In UFC 2 (i think)Keith Hackney tapped some chubby chinese guy by punching him in the groin about 6 times.
Those were the things that made UFC cool.

Don't blame me if you see my old characters acting like asses.
From what I understand both those fighters sustained serious permanent injuries. I don't watch a lot of UFC, but I understand that they let in all kinds of different disciplines with no limitations. However a lot of different types of martial arts specialize in crippling or otherwise permanently damaging attacks. Regardless on how extreme the sport is supposed to be, it's still a competition, and you shouldn't have to worry about being paired up against a guy who is going to try and permanently cripple you in order to win. Heelkicks to your kidneys, small joint locks or serious blows to a guy's testicles are going to damage him for life. I would personally rather watch two skilled fighters try and breach each other's defenses over what dumb mother fucker can hit the other guy in the balls first.
As for what I've taken; private message me if you really want to know. It annoys the hell out of me when people yabber on some internet messageboard about how l33t their martial skills are, and I don't feel like listing them out. I will however say that I'm taking Systema right now, only because I highly recommend looking into it if there is someone in your area teaching it. It's easily the most fun I've ever had learning a discipline, and very different from a traditional Asian art.

Go watch UFC #4 where Joyce Gracie (skinny little guy, well comparitivly ) beats Dan Severn after a fifteen minute fight by making him tap out.
That is a good example of a smaller fighter defeating a bigger fighter thanks to effective Martial Arts. Not only the art of course, Royce is a good fighter, so is Dan Severn.
But no matter how big the opponent is, there will always be a way to defeat him. If you are a skilled fighter, you will find the weak spots and the way.
Royce defeats Dan Severn(which is a much bigger and heavier fighter) one day, and loses another day to Kazushi Sakuraba(much smaller than Dan Severn).
Anything can happen in a fight.
A good example of this is a fighter i trained with for about 10 years ago, Omar Bouiche.
Back then, he primarily used Tae Kwon Do and Wing Tsun and later found interest for Pancrase due to his rolemodel Minoru Suzuki.
Back then he must have watched OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of tapes of matches with Suzuki, motivating him to train better and be good etc.
Then a few years ago, Omar gets his first big Pancrase match in Japan, and guess who he meets, his old model Minoru Suzuki!
The match ends with Suzuki tapping out and Omar winning over his old model, which brings him strange feelings.
He is partly happy because he won the match of course, but then he is also sad because he defeated his old rolemodel!
That could be compared to starting training Martial Arts because of Bruce Lee movies and books and then later defeating Bruce in combat.
Strange things happen in fighting...

A good fighter that is very skilled in both standupfighting(punching, kicking) and grappling, groundfighting is Bas Rutten.
Bas Rutten and Frank Shamrock had a good fight which i would like you all to see if you can get hold of it.
