Ultima X:Odyssey the MMORPG

Post by Animalor »

Looks like the true sequel to UO is coming at last. Seemingly dubbed by it's developpers as UXO.

I wish them luck....

I played the old UO before I came to EQ, they had a better trade skill system at the get go, but thier economy was screwed up, PK's were too common, exploits everywhere, and the game play was not up to par.

I mean literally you could play for 6 hours and then get your ass handed to you by a chicken...unless you macro'd up etc.

I don't know how much of a clean-up job they did because I only played for like the first 2 months before I had my fill.

That's cool. I hope they do well, they deserve it, the original is such a classic.

I won't play if they keep pvp in. When Ultima Online first came out I played it for about 4 hours and was loaded down with cool equipment. While running back to town a stranger fireballed my ass and I lost everything. I deleted the game right there. In that 4 hours I had killed two mobs. What a worthless piece of shit that game was.

Wow, in my first four hours I managed to get killed by a chicken...just a regular chicken...not once but twice.

Then I went and bought a pickaxe and put some rocks in my bag, then some 3 guys on horses killed me wearing full plate and casting fireballs. They took my rocks.

So then I went and got some cake. I wandered back into the woods, naked...to gather more rocks....and a theif stole my cake, and then some more full plate wearing guys on horses decended on me and the other naked people and killed us all again.

It was great fun. Somehow I managed to continue to play it for a few months...even in all that lag. I ended up having nightmares with lag in it. And I was getting real pissed off at red lights... I mean vein popping mad because it reminded me of lag. I had to quit before I killed someone IRL.

Some of the screenshots look very similar to others that they released over a year ago. They were using a sci-fi setting rather than fantasy like these thought.
