After reading all the news and exclusives everyone else was getting, I was starting to feel left out. Just about that time, I happened to check my email, and I happened upon an email from my good friends at Sony that thankfully does not have a bunch of screenshots, because quite frankly, it's far more entertaining to see things with your own eyes. That's right, they are going to let me pick 10 Mobhunter readers who will get to participate in the LDoN Beta test.

After some internal debate, I've decided that you must tell ME why you deserve to be in the beta test. Write a one paragraph explanation and I will pick my favorite 10 and those people will get into the beta. Please make SURE to include your first and last names, along with your Station Name (NOT YOUR PASSWORD! ) or your entry will not count since those are things Sony requires.

The deadline for submissions is Friday the 22nd at 5 PM PST. At some point over the weekend I will post the winning entries and submit the names to Sony and hopefully they can get everyone started early next week.

I encourage you to be creative with it, and good luck.

Anyone interested in participating and posting what they think of the expansion, here's your shot. Personally, I welcome the return of the dungeon crawl, but I'm not too sure if I like where SoE is taking things with Augemented items.

Any opinions?

The beta is a hellhole atm.
Can't say anything more.

Game design looks great. People, on the other hand.. are abusing a certain (test) command.

I have never looked more forward to an expansion. LDoN sounds like a breath of fresh air.

i heard that you could respawn and exploit the Ring of Emperor Crush.

playerauctions has been absolutely flooded w/ Dwarven Ringmail Tunics via Stormhammer.

More than likely he is refering to /testbetabuff or /betabuff

Pretty sure you can ding 65 off typing that...I think /shrug

It is sort of like the version on the Test server where if you type /testbuff you will ding 25 and have all your spells scribed and 3 bags of decent equipment.

i heard you get lvl 65, with some AA 8kpp and an entire bankfull of gear, and you get equiped with pretty good gear too, ie: monks get REBBs etc..

yeah, I could see how that would be abused.

I was talking to a 54 ranger today who was in the beta. He was talking it up like it was the greatest thing in the world, and then I asked him if he actually played a character or /testbuffed himself to 65 and 100aa... he shut up pretty quick.

I've had fun playing around in beta, even met a few people from Veeshan, heh (/wave Rellix!). It's really neat how they've set up the instanced zones and such. I haven't got the test out the raid content, but I do know it's limited in the amount of people you can use (i.e. no more zerg). The GMs/Devs have been very active and helpful, it'd be awesome if it were always like this.

Anyways, you're all basically right, /betabuff [class] [level] and you LD. When you come back on you're equipped with a bunch of gear and such. The characters are supposedly someone's live character, so you're assigned race and even sex. They are really unbalanced though (i.e. Bard is lacking while Beastlord is really nice), but it's not biggie since the point isn't to salivate over your /betabuff'd character but to test the dungeons and such, and all the characters do that fine.

Log in with your EverQuest username/pw and fill out the form etc. I've registered two accounts and they were both accepted instantly, so I'm guessing as long as you sign up you're accepted.

Anyways, I wish I could give more in-depth explanations of the new content, but I'm an honest fellow and wouldn't want to break the NDA! ;p
