I know the list should be out tonight... but I thought I would jumpstart it and start a discussion about who you see running California, and why.

You also forgot pornstar Mary Carey. D.L. Hughley also supposedly took out filing papers.

so many conservatives running that the vote will get split and Davis will get re-elected and California will become even worse off than it is now after spending 300 million on a recall and another election. This rules because laughing at the american democratic system is becoming a favorite pasttime of mine.

I predict Arnold's own party buttfucking him once someone draws his social views out into the open, which is a shame because I really think he is the best person for the job. Hate to say it, but next to Arnold, Mr Flint is the most honest of the bunch and he has even more experience dealing in politics than Arny. He doesn't have quite Arny's level of business savvy though.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .
Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

California's secretary of state is already estimating that the special election will cost you fine citizens of California between $53 million and $66 million. But hey whats another couple of million when your already in the hole for $38 Billion.Kargyle wrote:I agree with you Kyou, except you are exagerating the cost of the recall election. The most recent figures I've seen still place the cost between 30 and 40 million.

what? of course he can re-run, and he is doing just that. he is already fucking campaigning you stupid shit head. why do you waste my time and yours by arguing with in every single fucking post when you are always so WRONG? is your life that boring? grab your flame thrower and go deer hunting or something you shitheel and stop stepping on my toes to get my attention.Fallanthas wrote:Davis can't be re-elected in the recall vote. Might be a good idea to get some information before you try you hand at prognostication.
Actually Kyou if the vote to be recalled goes through Davis is ousted and whoever had the highest votes will finish out Davis' current term. There will be 2 questions on the October ballot.
- Should Gray Davis be recalled as Govenor?
- Please select one of the following candidates for GOVERNOR.

You're arguing semantics.
Correct, Davis isn't running for re-election, but he is campaigning.
Davis is campaigning to not be recalled.
The ballot asks:
1. Do you want Gray Davis to be recalled as Governor?
2. If Gray Davis is recalled, which candidate (of the following list) should take his place?
Gray Davis is not in section 2, but instead keeps his job (not, not "re-elected", simply not thrown out of office) if the majority of the votors vote against recalling him in section 1.

Hrm, think I have may have been interrupted by work in my reply and got it in after yours because I don't believe those last two posts were on there when I clicked reply.
If I wanted to pharm I could do it a lot easier by just quoting pro Bush/anti Bush propaganda in the "Current Events" forum, but I find both sides tiresome.
My apologies if my post appears redundant.
Have a nice day

How can he "re-run" for a recall vote if he never has been part of one before? It's quite clear what line of reasoning you were going down.kyoukan wrote:what? of course he can re-run, and he is doing just that.
You really suck at backpedalling, probably a reflection of you having legs about ten inches long irl.kyoukan wrote:same difference. voting to not recall davis is the same as voting for him.

In the above statement, re-run = campaign as used in the statement: "Governor Davis was campaigning not to be recalled."Brotha wrote:How can he "re-run" for a recall vote if he never has been part of one before? Her statement is 100% correct. To paraphrase your misplaced insult: You really suck at reading.Brotha wrote:You really suck at backpedalling, probably a reflection of you having legs about ten inches long irl.kyoukan wrote:same difference. voting to not recall davis is the same as voting for him.

Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.
I don't think that Re-run is really the correct terminology to use, but that is a fairly minor quibble.
Kyoukan's initial quote was:
Kyoukan's initial quote was:
This is impossible the way the recall is currently structured, as others have pointed out its a vote for if you want Davis out. Then a vote for who you want to vote for (in a list that does not contain Davis). Any split of the conservative vote will have no effect on the Davis recall item. Davis has petitioned the California State Supreme Court to allow his name to be in the second list. I haven't heard that they have ruled on that particular petition, I would be suprised if he is successful though.so many conservatives running that the vote will get split and Davis will get re-elected and California will become even worse off than it is now after spending 300 million on a recall and another election.
Where did I even hint at that statement not being correct? However, it's not what she said in her original post- in other words, the whole backpedalling thing I was talking about. If you're going to criticize someone's reading comprehension, the least you could do is pm their post to someone with above tenth grade reading skills and have them double check it for you- sort of a "spell checker" if you will.Aranuil wrote:Her statement is 100% correct. Look at the quote Chmee posted as well.

I didn't know Bustamonte threw his hat in the ring. This changes quite a bit. I was under the impression that no democrats were going to run against Davis in the recall.
I don't like Bustamonte at all but giving Californians another democrat to pick on the ballet might screw Davis' chances pretty hard.

There are two items on the ballot, whether or not to recall Davis, and then a vote for govenor. They will both be voted on at the same time.
I saw someone post on another board that Davis's petition to have his name on the second part of the ballot where in the group that the state supreme court had already turned down, but I haven't found a solid reference for it yet.
